Good GM2 followers ! Today I bring you something I know a while , and I think it is ok to publish . It is about changing the device information, which together all in one post . Do not panic , it is very simple:
Let's change the name of our ROM , product name and version of Android (everything is fictional, but changing this, we can play games / incompatible apps)
Instructions:
- Rename the ROM:
1. Open a root file explorer ( Root Explorer does not work for me, so I recommend ES File Explorer)
2. Go to /system
3. Open build.prop file with a text editor
4. Write the following: ro.build.display.id = name you want
5. Save Changes
6. Reset the mobile
7. Go to Settings , Device Info , and see the name you chose
- Change Android Version
1. Open a root file explorer ( Root Explorer does not work , I recommend ES)
2. Go to / system
3. Open build.prop file with a text editor
4. Modify the following: ro.build.version.release = number you want (an existing android version)
5. Save Changes
6. Reset the mobile
7. Go to Settings , Device Info , and see the number you chose
- Rename sheet:
1. Open a root file explorer ( Root Explorer does not work , I recommend ES)
2. Go to / system
3. Open build.prop file with a text editor
4. Modify the following:
ro.product.model = pattern you want
ro.product.brand = samsung
ro.product.name = pattern you want
ro.product.device = pattern you want
ro.product.board product = Board
ro.build.product = pattern you want* You must put the same model in all *
* Find the model number on Google and the same mobile product.board want you to be *
5 . Save Changes
6. Reset the mobile
7. Go to Settings , Device Info , and see the name you chose
Example:
Since I know there are some who do not know what model to choose, if you searched well, etc. . I leave an example with the Galaxy S4:
ro.build.display.id = JDQ39.I9500XXUAMCH
ro.build.version.release = 4.2.2
ro.product.model = GT- i9500
ro.product.brand = samsung
ro.product.name = GT- i9500
ro.product.device = GT- i9500
ro.product.board = universal5410
ro.build.product = GT- i9500
After all this , go to device information (in settings) and freak out .
Note:
- No fakes do this, ie not rename your ROM and upload a screenshot Internet saying that you have created a ROM when you lie.
I hope you like this MOD

There is no point doing this.
I will move it to Development forum

Ok... @Moscow Desire
Huh? Wut? Somebody call me?
And NO, this will not be moved to development. Why? Because its not any type of development. This is a common knowledge alteration that just about everybody knows, and is literally spread all over XDA in millions of posts.
Also, messing with build prop files can cause you Play Store to not allow downloading of some apps, or certain apps won't function correctly.
In fact, to avoid people messing up their build props, and having to use adb to push a good copy, I'm just gonna close this thread.
Cheers

Edit build.prop and use sqlite to change settings.db
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
1. Unlock
2. Root
3. Download root explorer and sqlite editor
4. Open sqlite editor
4.a - under the files tab navigate to "data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db/global"
4.b - click the + symbol to add a new entry
4.c - In name section put "tether_dun_required" all lower case exactly as it appears here.
4.d - In value section put "0" thats the number zero.
4.e - click save and exit program.
5 Open root explorer
5.a - Under the root tab browse to "/system"
5.b - long press on file "build.prop" choose "open in text editor" choose "yes" to remount as read-write and continue
5.c - add this as a new line to the bottom of the file "net.tethering.noprovisioning=true" all lower case exactly as it appears here. Just 1 uppercase letter here can make it not work.
5.d - save and exit
6 Reboot
7 Native tethering should work now.
Thank you kindly!
Edit:
Unfortunately I followed your instructions exactly and when I turn on hotspot I get "Unable to connect to data network; you may not be subscribed to Tethering or Hotspot service; please contact your phone company"
EDIT 2: After TWO reboots it works! Thanks again.
I understand half of that but let's see
How to get free hotspot= Get rid of stock ROM, flash custom ROM instead.
After flashing some roms my device changed from xt1063 to xt1068 and i think this is giving me the error when executing updater binary when flashing roms.How can i change it back to 1063?
You can use something like ES Explorer and go to device/system, touch build.prop and open it with ES Note Editor. Scroll down to the line ro.product.model and edit that line to read XT1063.

cant find it, i can only find ro.product.name and brand
Flash a recovery for your device.
Or
Add the line in build.prop
or extract your ROM.zip edit update script (meta-inf/google/android/updater-script) and remove the device check lines, re zip and flash

didnt work :/
the model name is present on the build.prop file
it ROM must have that file, so if now your devices tink is any other name is just a name does not mean a thing, wen you try to flash other rom that rom will came with its on build.prop and will show the device name that is on that build.prop.
I dont see the problem you are mistaking things.:good:
but if you wanna to change try like other have told you... see pic you can set any name really will not change a ting.
how you can see my dont say XT****, wen i open app that show device model it show exactly what is on build.prop
Just Wipe ur /system/ directory and clean flash a new ROM (cm 12.1) , THis way ur build.prop is going to be wiped (as we are wiping /system ) and get recreated when u flash ur new ROM , Therby resoring the Original Build.prop

Hello ,
Here is the Best way to enable the A-Z Sort on HomeTouchWiz
I tried
Add <CscFeature_Launcher_EnableViewByAlphabetAsDefau lt >true</CscFeature_Launcher_EnableViewByAlphabetAsDefault> in others.html
but i wasn't able to create Folder Unless if i change the true to false beside its not the official way for S6 Launcher..
So
Download the 2 files from the zip ( its a MiX from VZW and RWC )
extract the folder CSC.zip and move costumer.xml and others.xml to the /system/csc/( copy it here ) and set the permission 644 and reboot.
download:
CSC.zip

Download the CSC Feature app from the store and go to the Launcher section and find the right feature and put it to true. Worked for me.

Re-update Please File Deleted
So this is for any phone that is rooted. I kind of stumbled on it by just modifying/deleting entries inside of com.google.android.projection.gearhead. I use mixplorer cause its the easiest most user friendly.
1. Open mixplorer and navigate to /data/data/com.google.android.projection.gearhead/files/phenotype/shared/
2. Open gh.phenotype.pb as text with the in app code editor
3. Search for
AppValidation__blocked_packages_by_installer
4. Delete the line of the app your trying to use and save the file.
5. Press and hold on the file and select I on the top.
6. Change owner to root 0 and set permission to rw 600 if it's different.
That's it. My file hasn't updated since February 21 and I continually update Android auto and won't lose any app like obd2aa or fermata and the like. Hopefully it'll work for you too.
Hello, I have looked in the folder /data/data/com.google.android.projection.gearhead/files/phenotype/shared/, but I don't have the gh.phenotype.pb file as you can see in the screenshot. Can it be in another folder? Thank you
