Kindle Fire won't turn on - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It was charging for most of the day, so the battery isn't dead. I turned it on and then the screen went black. Now it won't do anything unless I plug it into the computer or wall. I didn't root it or change anything.

I pushed the power button again for about 30 seconds and now it works. I don't know how to delete the thread.

Kindle 8.9 Rooting gone wrong, won't turn on

Hi, I tried to root my Kindle Fire 8.9 with "BreakDroid" (with Mac) then suddenly on the 3rd step, after holding the power off button, the kindle won't turn on anymore. BreakDroid's instructions are to hold the power off button every step, then on the 3rd step it shutted down the kindle and I can't get it to turn back on. I've held the power button from 20secs up to 2 mins about 10 times now. I also don't think it's the battery because it had 60% when it turned off. Please help, thank you.
If you're feeling slightly adventurous, I would pry it apart and disconnect the battery for a moment. Just like a regular battery pull but no easy access cover. This is what I would try If I were in your situation. Unless you want to wait for warranty. I had this same issue with Motorola Xoom -tried an ADB reboot and never came on again. Was stuck in an in between state. Disconnecting the battery cable and connecting it again did the trick. Looks fairly simple:

[Q] Kindle Fire HD - Replaced Battery

I opened kindle fire hd and replaced battery. Kindle was working fine but the old battery would not stay charged for more than an two hours unless plugged in, so I replaced battery. Kindle Fire powered on and new battery stayed charged all day but is stuck at the orange arrow swipe screen. I have done the hard boot by holding power button for 20 seconds and it reboots but still touch screen is unresponsive and also tried with it connected to laptop, no luck.

Is it possible that you unplugged or damaged the touchscreen controller?

I think i know what's going on here, In any KFHD if you charge the device using a wall charger with current output less than 1800mA The touch screen becomes unresponsive while charging, I think that's because the device rely completely on external power source instead of the battery during charging and if this power source is not enough the touch screen doesn't work, I think the battery you put in the KFHD has a lower current output than the original, Try replacing it. Also can you please take a picture of both batteries, make sure the text on the batteries is clear?
Thanks

I am having a similar problem. I had the same problem with the battery not holding a charge, so I bought a new battery. Now the new battery does not power the screen. If I want it bright enough to see, I need to have it plugged in. It started out flickering for a few seconds before becoming clear. After 4-5 days, the flickering doesn't go away.. I'm pretty sure I used the correct charger.

I can hear the unlock/lock sounds but my Nook HD's screen wont turn on

On Friday night the tablet ran itself down and shut off after watching some movies before bed. The screen and the rest of the tablet was functioning normally up to this point. I didn't bring my charger home with me from school, so it stayed dead for a few days. The tablet is now fully charged (or at least almost full. I left it on the charger overnight and this morning when I unplugged it I couldn't get the screen to turn on. At first I thought I forgot to plug the charger into the wall, but now I realized that the tablet *is* on, but the screen wont come on. My computer reads the device, and I can transfer files to/from.
When I hit the power/home button I immediately get a lock/unlock sound. Holding the power button to try to hard reset just makes it make the lock sound twice. Any advice here? Is my screen dead?

How long are you holding the power button. When I get the sleep of death under CM11 I have to hold the power button for a slow count of 15 then wait a few seconds and hold it again for a slow count of 3.

Kindle keeps turning off and on

I have a rooted Kindle Generation 2 with CM on it that's been on it for years now. It's been turned off for probably a year now or so.
When I plug it into the PC or the wall to charge up the display comes on and shows the Kindle Fire blue and white words and then turns itself off and then turns itself back on again in a loop. It doesn't stay powered on long enough for the computer to detect it and do anything or for me to select any options. I've tried holding down the power button for 20, 30, 60 seconds and nothing. Just two seconds on and then two seconds off over and over again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rebooting and charging problems (TATE)

A while back my HD7 (TATE) running Beanstalk OS (Marshmallow) started acting peculiar.
If unplugged from the charger, it will boot up just fine into the OS. However, after the screen times out, it will instantly shut off and begin to reboot. It will keep doing this unless I keep the screen on (using it) or force it off completely (shut down, or press and hold power for 5 sec). It seems that my Kindle Fire HD 7 doesn't like going into Sleep mode. I looked up and tried changing some of the default sleep state values via kernel editor, but nothing seems to help or make a difference.
I thought maybe it was the battery dying at first, so I tried to plug it in. I noticed that if I plug in the charger during the boot process, it just instantly dies and refuses to wake up unless I unplug it. However, once it is completely on and booted up, I can plug in the charger and it stays on and charges. That is, unless I let the screen time out... then it attempts to reboot but instant death because the charger is in during boot.
Oddly enough, I'm able to charge the Kindle when it is completely powered off by plugging in. Or I can leave the screen on by changing the power settings, and let it charge that way. Its become very difficult to use like this, however. Everytime I put it down, I have to either power it completely off or come back to a dead battery from all the bootloops.
In a nutshell, it seems that my KFHD7 Tate won't charge unless completely powered off or on- during boot it causes it to lock up until the cable is removed. It also won't sleep, as once the system times out the display and tries, it reboots.
