So I have been using WiFi tether a lot, my phone said over 10GB last month. But Verizon says 2GB. I use the Xposed Moto Tether module.
I will keep an eye on it, but there is no way I only used 2GB last month. I was streaming video and music and using the internet a lot.

Hi, I'm using AOIP 8/10/13 ROM on my Galaxy Exhibit T679 phone and Yesterday when I was using my laptop using my phone as WiFi hotspot, all of a sudden, T-mobile warning sign came up on a browser window and since then, any web page i'm try to connect ends up a T-mobile warning sign saying you have to buy a hotspot plan. Wifi Tethering has been working with no problem on this ROM till today, so I was wondering what happened. Can anybody give me any advice? I thought if I root my phone and use these custom rom, Wifi tethering would work even without having T-mobile hotspot plan or whatever. BTW, I've been using this ROMs build-in tethering feature and I didn't use any tethering app like FOX-Fi etc...Any help would be appreciated.

Just curious do you have an unlimited data plan.

it's a so called "Walmart Plan" which includes: 5GB data, 100 min talk time and unlimited text.
When I checked the usage of my data, it was like 300 MB, so I still have a lot of data left.

Hmmm idk what to tell you I have a unlimited plan and never had a pronlem with wifi tether. Maybe try wiping data and cache .
What browser are you using? I ran in to this before with same wall Mart plan. I found online about changing the user agent in the browser can get you around the T-Mobile page. I was using internet explorer. Go to developer options and then go change user agent to opera. See how that works.
If all else fails, its only 15 bucks more for the tethering with Tmobile.
Didn't see a definitive answer: Anyone figure out Foxfi/PDANet wifi tethering? USB works fine, but Wifi tethering says to lock the screen, then either enter credential passwords that don't exist even after clearing credentials. Enabling the hotspot of course brings up subscription check. Any success or tips? Or is there another working wifi tether app, non root?
I'm picking up an X this week and this is important to me as well. I tether to me nexus 7 all the time.

Just updated to kit kat on my moto x and having the same problem. Verizon broke the foxfi app and none of the other non-root tethering apps appear to be working.
Does anyone know if the bluetooth tethering in pda net works on an unrooted kitkat x on vzw?
Very interested as well as I just got my Cyber Monday Moto X DevEd and my trusty Elixir Wifi toggle widget (or the Tasker equivalent) isn't doing the trick for me. This is vital to me as I have a grandfathered Verizon Unlimited plan and about 8-10 hrs of the day my Nexus 7 (and occasionally my laptop) is tethered.
This would possibly ruin my life... Not really, but I do connect to my phone far more than any other Wifi connection including my home Wifi. How else am I to bring down Verizons ridiculously immoral business model?
As for right now, I am keeping my trusty GS3 active until there is a solid fix, preferably root-not-required.
I used the method in this thread for native tether http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2536166&page=4
on my verizon dev Moto X. Used the script in post 35. Worked great

This is my exact situation.
Also, I just spoke to motorola and they said it's impossible to revert back to 4.2.2. except if you root the device, which voids the warranty. Therefore, rooting is not preferred.
Also, the tech said that if you do not update an android device it will eventually force update itself. Is this true?
Will try the method used above in post #35.
So that option requires root, back to square one.
hi, i have 3 uk and in my contract i have all you can eat data, it should be unlimited but for tethering they say it's 2gb, after that they slow you down, like from 10mb to 0.5 mb, there's an xposed module (or any other app/tweak) for use my phone connection as tethering, and not the real tethering? thanks

I certainly need this module too if there's one.
Strange thing is.....one of my mates usually tethers his laptop to watch online stuff and his monthly tethering usage could be easily more than 10gb....but he never gets blocked or slowed down by 3. He's using a windows phone tho.
However another friend had no good luck. His tethering got blocked as soon as 4gb limit ran out. Still unlimited data on his phone and not being slowed down either. His gadget is htc m8.
I know ee ain't got this limit tho....
I could be wrong on 3 myself I think it's something to do with the type of contact your on too I.e. If on old type of contract they don't do any more there's no limit of on new style current contacts it's limited

Hey all,
Coming from the tmobile LG g3 where autoprime has a fantastic mod that allowed tethering to be spoofed so it vans up under the unlimited data.
I have this old app i purchased a long while ago, wifi tether and it worked great before auto prime patch cache out, rendering the app useless.
Now I'm on the tmobile n6 64 gig and the wifi tethering app is just not working.
I have sent t the logs to the creator of the app and he cannot find anything wrong.
The problem is, I enable the wifi tethering app on my n6. I then connect my n9 to it to stream while I'm at work. Then, randomly, with the screen on and in the middle of streaming, or if I step away and the n9 is paused and the screen turns off, each time the n6 says it's still tethering. However, the nexus 9 is disconnected from it and when I rescan for it, it doesn't show up. So I have to turn off and back on the wifi tethering app for it to work again, until it happens again.
I'm following all his instructions and it is not working like it used to. So I'm posting here to see if anyone out there has any suggestions or advice to help me getting this to work on my n6 flawlessly please.
Thank you,
Whiteice

Opened sqlite editor and looked for the settings.db file for WiFi tether on T-Mobile and its no longer there. Was it intentionally hidden to prevent changing the files? Anyone know how to expose the files if they are there? 7gb isn't enough to tether. Thanks.
gg
i guess you dont know whats going down.. two weeks ago, tmobile started a crackdown on people that "steal" the data services, for tethering their home internet. if you arent powering your home internet with it, then 7gb is plenty. and dont say that you dont "steal" anything, as it is considered theft. that said, im not innocent myself. but it is what it is.
So, the best way to keep the ability to tether with T-Mobile (5gig pre-paid here) is to not upgrade to Marshmallow ?
If so, I am ok with that. I rarely tether anyway, but when I need to I need to.

i tether all the time, but the 7gb is more than enough for me now, as i dont have a home computer. you could try not upgrading, but they can still tell nowaday if you are or not. last year they caugt me, and i wasnt even tethering much. since then, every time they caught me tethering illegally, every time i went online with the n6 i had to contact tmobile because all my data would be stopped.
several weeks ago, tmobile and their leader made a statement about catching everyone that powers their home internet via tethering illegally.
We are on different plans, I think. I get 5gigs of data, 100 minutes of voice, unlimited texting for $30/month. They used to call this the "Wal-Mart" plan. It is prepaid and I don't think it allows any tethering at all, which is kind of stupid of T-Mobile since no one could provide home internet tethering out of only 5 gigs of data. I had to edit an sql database on my Nexus5 under KitKat to enable tethering, and that has persisted thru all the Lollipop updates so far.

I found this yesterday that worked for me.
