Don't you have the T-Mobile US branded variant of the Z (C6606)? If so, you cannot flash any custom kernel as your bootloader cannot be unlocked. (I know your signature says C6603, but the model number changes if you flash an unbranded rom).
To check for yourself if your bootloader can be unlocked, enter *#*#7378423#*#* in the dialler, then look in Service info, Configuration.

So does that mean I can't install roms either?? I can boot into recovery and all that

You can flash stock based roms only. Anything that requires a custom kernel (CM/AOSP/AOKP/PAC etc) are not able to be flashed on a locked bootloader.

i've heard from someone that we can flash the kernel directly through our phone without using flashtool is that possible ???!!
Sent from my X8 using xda premium
yes, i think thats possible, I think it is quite complicated to do so since our x8 has lower level of configuration of hardware...
It is possible, Nobodyatall said in the future he will do that!
This Mail Was Sent To You Using XDA Premium!!
Well that's a great news let's see who's the first to bring it to our X8.
lots of people knows about it so its true , iam not the only one who wishing something like that afterall
If this is true..does it mean we don't need to unlock boot loader to flash new kernels.

Hello, im a Sony user and I just switched to htc. I want to know what are the custom kernels available and how to flash them. The method I used for Sony won't work here I guess.

I suggest you have a read around general and development sticky threads.
Just a general question really, is it worth unlocking my bootloader?
Not many custom kernels around so I guess it's only cm10 based Roms everything else seems stock based?

Its up to you.
I imagine soon there will be custom kernels with abilities such as UC/OC/UV etc
If you can root the phone without unlocking the bootloader and dont want to install CM then I would wait untill some new kernels come along.
On stock jb at minute flashed as soon as I got it not rooted yet though might do that later,

Hi guys. just gonna ask,
I've seen and learned about the build number, and the builds that i come across reading the forums isn't like mine.
Mine is JZO54K.I8190NZSAMC1 so i don't know if it is compatible when it comes to flashing ROM and kernels and other tinkering the OS stuffs to my build. Thanks to your answers in advance.
As long as the rom is for your device, lets say you got the 8190L then you can only flash 8190L roms

It depends does the rom include your model? if it does give it a go
i think it does include my model but to be sure since it's my first time flashing custom roms. i flashed enox revenge and it's going smoothly no noticeable bugs yet. thank you for confirming. now i have peace of mind when it comes to flashing stuffs.

Glad it worked out in the end for you! I tried enox revenge, but i wanted more of a s4 feel so i went with dmod. Both are excellent roms very stable to stuttering or anything.
i've read the thread about dmod. doesn't it drain your battery fast? i think that's one issue of the dmod right? and to fix that you have to flash something (which i've forgotten).
btw thank you again!

I've been searching around, but can't seem to find a straight answer on all ROM's. Which ROM's are usable with a locked boot loader? Thanks in advance.
Edit - Done some more reading... Can I do anything with a locked boot-loader really? Or am I forever limited to 4.1.2 based ROMs?
Take a proper look in the Android development forum dude!
There are loads of ROMs you can flash on a locked bootloader. Generally the ROM will say LB/UB and must be a modified stock ROM.
The only ROMs you can't flash are cyanogenmod/Aokp /aosp based ROMs.
Or upgrade to 4.2.2. with a stock tft via flash tool.

Thanks so much, sorry im new to sony bootloaders. So if I upgrade to 4.2.2 I can flash cyanogenmod/aosp Roms? I really want to use parandroid... Or is that impossible as of currently? Also, will the boot loader eventually get unlocked? I'll probably end up returning this phone if its not possible for a long time. Again thanks.

Do not flash paranoid on your phone with a locked bootloader , you will brick your phone.
