CM 10.2.1-ovation
Android 4.3.1
Date and time: Use network time
Kernel: 3.031-green+
After installing the latest CM "stable" update using the built in CM upgrade system, the google play store no longer works. I get "No connection retry" when loading play store. Prior to 10.2.1 play store functioned normally.
I googled this, and found none of the solutions worked. I've tried:
1. Ensuring network time is set
2. clearing data cache from play store app
3. Uninstalling and reinstalling play store from an apk
Wondering if this is a known issue with a known fix from someone in the community.
Thanks
If you were previously using CM 10.1.3 (Android 4.2.2) and have now upgraded to CM 10.2 (Android 4.3), you need to reinstall GAPPS for your new Android version.
So you'll need to download the latest GAPPS, found here: http://goo.im/gapps (for CM10.2.x) and then boot into CWM Recovery and install GAPPS manually. The automatic CM updater does not install GAPPS unfortunately.
Once you've done that, reboot back into Android and you're good to go. All the best.

Thanks! I did a factory reset and installed gapps. Everything works again. I guess when upgrading android versions using the CM updater, gapps will always have to be reinstalled? This is by design? Weirdly, no other gapps had any issues after the upgrade. Gmail, youtube, etc all worked fine, just not the play store.

You only need to update gapps when you do a major update like you did from CM10.1 to CM10.2. But you now have CM10.2 stable so there will be no more updates to it.

I am running jcsullins cm10.1 experimental Bluetooth ROM, latest jbgapps for job 4.2.2. Google Play does not work anymore. It roles no it install any new app when I click on "install". Also, Google play freezes when I try to get to "settings". I had already reinstalled gapps, cleaned cache, with no help. I would appreciate any clues. Tks.

If you have some apps installed, Take a Nandroid Backup and then wipe data, system, cache, everything.
And then install the ROM and GApps.
I Hope this should help you.

From what rom did you come before updating to the experimental?
I am also having the play store not loading on the same bluetooth experimental rom. Since installing with GooManager last night with no system cleaning. I didnt install any new gapps everything carried over from the previous rom. I think the previous rom was one the first if not the original cm rom for the tp dual booting webOs with moboot. It is also not showing charging but the percent stayed at 86% through multiple reboots and 30 mins of web surfing. I turned it off last night with it plugged in and now it is showing 93%. The wifi icon is grey but I still have internet on the tp.
Just loaded WebOS and it is showing 96% and charging.
I am not complaining and have yet to diagnosis or really trouble shoot. A fresh install might fix my problems and I will probably try it in a day or two. I dont need to save anything.
I think JC's bluetooth rom had a bug in it that caused play store issues. The bug was fixed in a later nightly but I don't think JC ever released a new version. I remember reading about it at rootzwiki - head over there and do a quick search. Maybe there is a fix you can install in recovery.
I just installed CyanogenMod 10.1 on my Nook HD+ by following the instructions for dummies thread. Yes, I did install the gapps for jb. And I installed the play store apk from android police v 4.5. But upon installing the apk, I got a message that said CyanogenMod account crashed and then I got another message that said gapps crashed. I said okay to both messages like it was no problem at all. I load up play store and I get "No Connection" Retry. I did it several times, but no luck. I tried to clear data on it too. Does anybody have any idea on what could be the problem?

You need to install the correct version of jb (20130812) and not install that android police version of Play Store. Gapps has Play Store already in it. Go to CWM and wipe /system and factory reset. Then install both CM10.1 and the right gapps and nothing else. It should work then.

the files I used for installation were corrupt.

I wiped my nook, installed cwm, then I installed cm-10.1, then I installed gapps 20130812. I got nothing. No play store. No google apps. I was about to complain on the forum until I thought why not try downloading gapps again.
So I did.
And the next time I wiped/installed/restarted my Nook, I follow the prompts and I get something different from last time: it is asking for Google account credentials right upon startup.
I cannot believe downloaded file integrity is still such a big issue. It turned out that the gapps I downloaded the first time was corrupt.
Just installed latest CM12.1 along with gapps latest pico (1204). Install all OK but on first boot it gets stuck at the "no sim card installed" screen. Every time I hit skip play services stop and then I'm back at "no sim card". Have restored to previous working backup of CM from 1202 (CM of 1203 was also OK but no otg).
Going to retry with earlier gapps in case that was the problem. Anyone else had similar?
Gapps Problem
I have heard reports of people having trouble with Gapps on 12.1 for the fire. From what I understand you have to use the ARM Pico Gapps for it to work properly. That is what I used and have never encountered the problem you are describing.

Yes, using pico and no probs with two previous builds of CM12.1, only with today's build. Unfortunately I can't find either yesterday's CM build or gapps, thought I'd saved them. Going to try today's CM again with the only other gapps I have which is from a week or so ago.
Re the above, what are the risks of doing a more complete wipe in twerp before installing a rom? So far just doing a factory reset and flashing over but would like to make sure I wipe any existing gapps otherwise I suspect that an older version will not update a newer. Is it safe to wipe the system partition?
I am also having this issue installing the latest version of CM. Just got my tablet today so I don't have any previous versions of the rom or gapps to test with. If you find links to older versions of these can you let me know.

I can't find yesterday's version of ggow's CM but for an earlier gapps you can go to rootjunkies download site at rootjunkysdl.com and in the "Android Fire 5th gen" section under CM12 there are earlier versions of both CM and gapps.
Where I am now is with a working version of today's CM12.1 (to whit, 20151204) which I flashed over a restore from a couple of days ago without installing gapps so that I'm using the gapps that were in the restored setup, those, I think, are from the 1st or 2nd of this month. So far all seems fine but I've only just down it so there's not been much testing (eg. Otg)
It's also worth getting rootjunkies "SuperTool" as it has a convenient option to boot recovery when you have trouble starting twerp (at least it helped me)

Guess its a problem with the latest gapps build, or an incompatibility between gapps and the latest CM.
OTG is now working for me but with the problem that when a USB drive is removed android seems to think that the SD card is gone and invalidates any apps stored on it ( though it is still available in file manager) until a reboot. This is is not unique to CM so I suppose it's an android problem; the same thing happens on my Hudl2 running kk4.4.4 and my Moto G running L5.1, though on the Hudl2 you can get around it by just yanking the USB device without unmounting.. Makes using otg a real pain!
I have been having this problem as well. I installed the latest CM12.1 with the latest OpenGAPPS and the play store (google services) kept crashing repeatedly. I tried all the different latest GAPPS. and nothing would work.
The GAPPS from rootjunkies 20151120 did however work. Thanks for pointing me to that version.
Hi All,
I was running CM12.1 on my HTC One M7 and I saw there was a new update (OTA) so I've downloaded it and installed it from the recovery. Afterwards it was a CM13 update but it went well (a "dirty flash") but as soon as CM booted the first time I did get a lot of "play services is stopped" errors. So I thought, Gapps is not compatible so I've downloaded the latest version from http://opengapps.org, the nano version. Flashed it, cleared the dalvik cache and rebooted.
Now the Google Play store is working again and I won't get any "play services is stopped" messages but other Google apps like Gmail and Youtube crashes directly when I open them. Maybe I've to try the "stock" version of Gapps?
Any thoughts?
Try a clean install, thats what you should always do when installing a major update.
I'm afraid I've too... but it's a OTA update (CM Nightly) so I've to pay more attention on what updates I install and won't install, didn't see it was CM13. Now trying to install the stock version of Gapps (with all the apps instead of the nano version). I hope it works, don't have the time to do a clean install with backups and stuff now.
I've installed the "stock" version of GApps and now everything is working fine.
I just flashed 7.1.1 LineageOS 14.1-20170321-nailyk-z3c via TWRP.
I installed Gapps micro and after I read something about fixing the problem via Gapps I cleared dalvik cashe and flashed Gapps mini after this, still got no effect.
Somebody got the same problem?
At this moment I found a workaround to install the App "DisableServices" and I disabled in Google Play Services "CheckInService" but no effect too ...

Install latest version, calls works fine

Thanks Kunqa, and after that what do you think will be the best Gapps package to add? Mini, Micro ...? ?
I installed the latest version, had Error 7, fixed the ROM and go on ...now I got Lineages Android 7.1.2, Gapps Nano and after all I flashed AddonSU to get root back, it works.
Good to know XDA!
