Hello,
when I switch off my phone and stick it on my charing station (Docking) my phone goes on to shop the battery is charging. All good. But than it switches off and on again over and over and over again.
And I am not quit sure if this is a docking station problem too: When I switch daydream on the phone do not charge at all... is this releated and I got a broken docking station?
Edit: When I switch on the phone and put it on docking station, it charges normally....
No one with the same problem?

My HD2 has just killed it's second car charger, grr! Has anyone else had this problem with generic micro USB chargers? Or genuine HTC ones?
The power light comes on in the charger but nothing happens on the phone. My car holder charger was in 2 sections, a mini USB cable to the cradle and then a converter to micro USB in the cradle. If you swap the mini USB cable the rest works, but with the broken cable, the cradle power indicator still lights up.
Thanks in advance if anyone's had the same problem or got some advice.

How hot is the phone?
If it is too hot (usually from a car charger in a hot environment), the Leo will not charge. The HD2 will blink green and orange.
Hello dizzi141,
Same problem here, already one car charger down. I have a red led burning on the car charger but nothing happens on the device ...
Grtz
My charger is working but charger is getting very hot and it charging the phone very slowly like 7-10 min one percent (%1) any way to fix this problem?
It's not a heat thing as far as I can tell, it works one minute and then next time it's dead. The phone doesn't recognise it's plugged into a charger even.
So the led is not blinking at all? (when plugged in to charger)
Shure that its your htc hd2 killing and not the car ? Cheapass chargers suks bigtime
Power consumption
Could it be that your generic charger is rated at 500mA and the HD2 can draw somewhere between 1500 and 2000mA ?
That might blow a fuse (or burn up the voltage regulator if unfused) in the "el-cheapo" car charger..
Personally, I'm using a 1000mA USB adapter from dealextreme.com
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.34040
and a standard USB cable.
Works perfectly for me.
(Sure, I might get the orange/green LED, but that's because of heat. I get that with original charger too, if it's too hot when I charge.)
Just my two cents...
I used to have a lower power generic car charger but it blew after a couple of months of occasional use.
For 'peace of mind' I brought the official HTC one as advised in the accessories section of their website, it's still working fine now after about 3 months of occasional use (just have to wiggle it around a bit to make a good connection in the socket sometimes).
I do have to align the screen mount to an aircon vent on the dash to keep it cool though, it overheats in no time - and that's just uk heat!
I haven't had any problems with heat or charging. I use this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882021129 , you can get them pretty cheap if you watch their email promos.
I'd agree with Bonzo.
I have tested few chargers (Samsung branded including ).
Everything what was not marked as 1A (1000mA) output was useless.
i use the origininale htc`s car chargers.
they work flawless.
CC-C200 for the hd2
i had a CC-C100 before.
I have recently purchased the original Samsung car holder.
After my tab reaches the 100% full charge, it beeps and advise me to disconnect.
If I don't do it, the tab itself begins to overheat after some minutes.
It oveheats really hi ! On the right side of the tab.
It seems like the car charger is not able to stop charging, differently from the house 220V charger.
Have you experienced something like me with your car charger ?
I have been using the car dock, sinds the beginning. Cannot say that i have noticed any excess heat. Note: i have used a brodit clip to install it on the air vent. Nicely in front of me without blocking line of sight.
All the phones i had "overheated" when connected in a car dock, having a forced air flow over it quickly eradicates this problem!
I use my tab in my car using the usb cable and a generic usb 12v adapter and it doesnt overheat, even when using the tab heavily (screen full bright, Torque app, and Pandora).

Ok, thanks for all your answers.
Could I ask you all, if you use bluetooth in your car?
I use bluetooth ON to stream music from SGT into my car stereo.
I mean it could be an overheat problem caused by the bluetooth antenna, isn't it ?
Bruno
I never use bluetooth.

I have bought the original dock nearly one year agoand it overheated only one time (car standing in the sun). I use my tab with Bluetooth and wifi activated.
New experiment:
I have put it in the car dock, no wifi, no bluetooth. Only 3G + Google Navigator were ON.
It reaches 100% and after become very hot (in the right side)!
Now I need to try again with display off, and 3G off; only power charge.
And finally I will understand (as I suspect) there is something it's not ok in my car dock (I remember you that with my original home plug cord all is ok !)

Adding to my post earlier, and answering your question, my audio is through bluetooth while I am running those apps.
It's even two bluetooth connections... Pandora and Torque at the same time.

Yeah, i think you're right. Without being an expert: Sounds to me, like it doesn't deactivate after the battery has reached 100%. As I understand.d you, it becomes hot after it is loaded to full capacity, right?
You should try to exclude all functions, that may be the source of this malfunction. Put it into flight mode and just try loading the tab. Then start activating single functions like wifi etc. After that, you can try combinated function.s like Bluetooth and wifi.
I just purchased a new car stereo (JVC kd-r730bt). I knew it wouldn't be able to access my HD7's media through the USB, but the salesperson told me that I should still be able to charge through it. (The booklet specifically mentions the usb provides 5V 1a for charging.) But it won't charge when I plug it in. The port itself seems to be working because it will charge my ipod and the HD7 must be getting some juice because it will turn on if it's off when I plug it in, but I don't get the charge indicator and my battery level never goes up.
I thought it might just be my unit or a problem with the install, but I had the same problem when I went and tried it on the display unit in the store. The sales guy was at a loss. The only thing we could think of was maybe the unit doesn't have the right volts or amps for the phone? However another sales guy told me that most chargers are 1a and that shouldn't be a problem. And I called JVC and HTC customer service and neither of them thought that would be the problem either. Does anyone know what the issue might be and if there's any fix/work around for it?
By the way, I was able to charge the phone using the same USB cable with a different car stereo display unit (Pioneer deh-6400bt). I also charge just fine off a computer usb using that cable.
On the bright side, the JVC streams music beautifully from my HD7 over bluetooth. I'm glad I got it over the Pioneer even with the charging issue since the Pioneer only does phone calls over bluetooth not media.
HD7 won't charge from car stereo USB...
...no it won't...it's not a ipod (thanks god)! buy a bluetooth car stereo...
Maybe u got some cigarette ash in ur car lighter pot , my car got that problem .

p.s love ur posts
I have a Captivate with AOKP m5. I can not get the phone to charge while in the car dock. The phone recognizes the dock; as soon as I plug it in the phone goes into car mode. I know the charger works. I was able to charge fine while using a gingerbread ROM.
Does this seem like a ROM issue, ICS issue, or kernel issue? I'm not really sure what tells the phone to charge, etc.
Any ideas?
The car charger that came with my phone does not charge it too, the red light turn on, but the phone does not recognize, the connection feels loose.
But the charger from my Samsung Jet (same connector) works ok, and the connection is not loose at the other charger, it's almost firm.
Both chargers are generic.
I would try another charger.
I didn't see this in any other posts, so I thought I'd ask.
I have a aftermaket car charger that does not show "slow charging" but when I am using google maps, it will slowly drain the battery, but if I use a power inverter and use the ac adaptor and cable that came with the phone, it charges faster than the screen, gps, and maps can use it up.
does anyone know of a car charger that is up to this challange?

Because most likely it is a 800ma-1amp charger. Get a 2 or more amp charger... very extensive car charger thread here....
My father bought one of these for his G2:
http://www.amazon.com/Vehicle-Charger-Dual-Output-Universal/dp/B00C9D5EJI
I'm not sure where he ordered it from.
I tried it out on my G2 with Waze running, screen on, and GPS running. No slow charge indicator. I left work with the battery at 69%, drove for a little over 20 minutes, and ended up at 81%. That's a nice fast charge with all of that running. I'll try it sometime with bluetooth and pandora on as well, but I imagine it'll keep up.
I purchased one of these.

Make sure you have a micro usb cable that can handle it as well. My old cable had the "slow charging" notification but once I switched it out for the one that came with the phone, it went away.
hope that helps.
I just buy a car charger for iPad and it works perfectly with 2.1A max. Screen on 100% light, battery turn 60% to 80% on 40min.
