If you buy the normal international version (GT-I8190/L/R), you won't have any problems rooting it and installing the ROM. However, if you buy a carrier-modified version, you won't be able to install that specific ROM, since it's not built for your device.

GXGOW is right. The best choice is to buy the international GT-I8190. Sure it comes with android 4.1.2, but that's not bad (i kinda preffer it over 4.2.2). And the GT-I8190 versions (normal ; L and N) are the most customisable ones and everything you'd want will work on them
Cheers for your amazing new phone if it's gonna be a GT-I8190 :good: otherwise cheers for your new phone :fingers-crossed:

[Q] I'm confused

Hi guys, i've just bought a Samsung Galaxy S Advance I9070 and I'm a little confused. My previous phone was a Galaxy Ace S5830i, I had that phone rooted (but it was too easy, just flash a .zip file) and with a custom rom.
So I have some questions:
1) For now I just want to root my new phone but the methods that I found here are not too clear to me. I first saw this method, but my firmware is not there. My phone came with I9070UBLI1 (2.3.6 GB). So i can't root my phone? my kernel isn't even in sammobile.com/firmwares
2) I want to make a backup just in case before rooting, so, what recovery should I use with this phone? cwm? this? or which one?
3) What is "binary counter"? In galaxy ace that wasn't present.
4) I saw that in samsungfirmwares site there are some 4.1.2 kernels, but they are for Rusia. I'm from Chile. So can I flash the russian kernel? will I loose my signal, 3G or something? Do you recommend upgrade to JB? with stock russian or a custom rom?
5) Do you recommend a custom kernel? which one? This looks nice
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope you can help me with those questions (numering your answers just like i did with my questions), I just want to enjoy a lot my new phone. :good:

Since you say that you are used to xda, i don't see any reasonable explanation for the creation of this thread!

I read the forums, but I'm still confused, for example, for rooting, in the thread that I linked in 1) there isn't the firmware that came with my phone, so I went to here, there isn't neither, then I read this post, but to do that I need dowload my phone's firmware, but the one that came with my phone there isn't in samsungfirmares web page, so I suppose I can flash anyone for Chile (my country), there are 2, but idk if they will work, so, if I'm going to take that risk I need to make a backup first, but idk what recovery I should use.
I have a mental bootloop

I bought my phone in January.
Then became member of xda in january.
Flashed russian jb all releases as they released in February.
Rooted my phone in same month.
Started using kernels in same month.
Started tweaking in same month.
And now i am really happy with my phone's performance.
As i was new to android and xda i have done all this because i was not worried about my warranty.
In short, go ahead don't think so much.

Running JZ054K.N7000XXLT4 -- Is there a better stock ROM out there?

As the title states, I'm currently running stock:
JZ054K.N7000XXLT4 with a baseband of N7000XXLT3
Is there a better firmware out there that I should be running? I want to keep it as stock as possible, but I'm feel like I'm missing out on a newer firmware even though my Germany unit says I'm up to date.
Suggestions?
Thanks!

My personal advice would be, if you are insisting on purchasing a note it is a lovely device, I wouldn't replace mine with a newer galaxy S3 or even an S4. But I might consider a note 2 if I were you. The large screen is awesome.
Another word of advice is to keep the note as stock as possible, unless you love fiddling with modded ROMs, and that could be challenging.

You have xxlt9 firmware available which you can flash. Just make sure sure flash the carrier free version (not from vodafone or orange as it wouod be bloated like hell).
And the modem version is same that's xxlt3 so I dont think that would be an issue.
I'm from Indiabut using the UK latest furmware myself. No troubles at all.

And CM11 4.4 kitkat is out, but it's not a bugfree stock experience, and that's what I think the OP is asking for.
Just install a custom rom chances are it'll still be slow and laggy just like all other Samsung stock roms, once you go aosp/cm there's no going back to slow stock roms.

I really don't think all custom samsung roms are slow. Try The Galaxy Project. Not slow or laggy at all in my opinion.

Or u can just install a cm ROM then add in the touchwiz launcher then download the touch wiz theme from play store... There a "Sammy" ROM with latest software hahaha

A custom rom is made/contributed by 1, 2 or lets say a number of 10 developers. An official rom its created by an army of developers

Anyone eager to download it, repackage to flashable .zip and upload somewhere? I might then start to work on boeffla kernel for 4.3
Or at least instruct me how to do it, I've never downloaded whole rom for odin
Root 4.3 firmware GT-I9305
How to root 4.3 firmware for GT-I9305?
I'm not sure but i guess that you could flash custom roms without losing your warranty.
When you want to restore your warranty just flash the stock 4.1.2 with odin.?
Not sure if this works.
Since the 4.1.2 version doesn't have KNOX.

Hello Mate I asked the Same Question and i have already read the same replies i got which doesn't answer your Question and will probably leave you frustrated.
There is a Leaked Roadmap on XDA which is Basically a very short list of when they expect the update to be released.
I can tell you it said November/December so it could be any day really.
I have been on Sam Mobile and they have Released 4.3 for our Handsets in Germany, Germany (Vodafone) and Spain (Vodafone)
I have asked the Question if these can be installed on a UK Handset and change the Language or if it wont work.
I hope this Helps answer your Question

[Q] Need a link to android 4.1.1 for the galaxy s3 i9305

Can someone send me a link to android 4.1.1 for the galaxy s3 i9305 (non branded) ? I need to downgrade from android 4.3 as that update is terrible on for my battery life and the performance is terrible as well. Thanks
uldate to 4.4.4 It is amazing and better than 4.1.1
Okay, any chance of a link to that for the galaxy s3 i9305 unbranded? I kinda lost my patience waiting for the update so I'd rather flash it instead.

You now that downgrade from 4.3 to 4.1.1 is not posibil due to new bootloader and knox in 4.3 firmware?
