knox - LG G Flex

just to be clear, there's no danger of tripping knox until at least a 4.3 update right?
so if I root now,and maybe put a rom on later (curenttly 4.2) there'll be no trace right?

Knox is a Samsung thing. So you won't ever have worry about tripping it in as lg phone

[Q] Where will JB upgrade come from? (If there ever is one?)

I purchased my Samsung Galaxy i957 unlocked 8.9 tab on line from a Hong Kong vendor last year. I love the tab and it works great, but I am confused about what happens if a Galaxy 8.9 upgrade is ever released. Since my tab is an i957 - wifi only- and has the ATT brand, would I get the upgrade from AT&T even though I have no data or phone service with them? If they send it out OTA, would I be able to grab it? Or would I have to go to Sammobile or some other place to get it? I'm assuming that I would have to unroot and return to stock, but beyond that??
Thanks,
Sue
You could get it from sammobile and flash it with odin. You would lose root. Did you root the device? If so then it'd be easy to re-root as you've done it before.
OTA won't work since you are rooted.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I rooted and am currently using Danno_Rom. I don't mind re-rooting so I guess I just need to sit back and wait for somebody to release the upgrade. Thanks again.

Nrvate's rom is cm 10 based if you want jb now. But I've found the stock, rooted ics runs just about as good. You have arm i957, right because nrvates is for the i957.

How To Videos on the Sprint Galaxy S4! (08/10/13)

This has been done MANY times before.
I recently purchased the Galaxy S4 and I make 1080p video tutorials on how to unlock, root, install custom recovery, roms, and etc.
Here are some videos that I know will help a lot of people out. I put a LOT of time and effort into making the best videos possible. If you have any suggestions for videos to make, please let me know! I'll be doing videos on roms and other development stuff found in the threads.
ALL of my Galaxy S4 Videos can be found HERE,

There will be MANY more Galaxy S4 videos to come. I'm going to do my full review of ForceROM once I've had time to play with it and can do an honest review. I will be doing a video on how to flash it stock this week or next week. Plus many more rom videos, tips/tricks, and etc.
Mine... Because all of the kids are doing it these days.
Many more videos will be added soon!
Dude you rock
I love the 90s. Good times.
This should be a sticky as well as the other video.

you can install ota's with custom recovery btw
its messing with anything on system that causes installs to fail
I'm assuming these methods are for MDC and not MDL correct?

I've always had it fail with custom recovery. And I don't usually uninstall system apps. I'll note that in the video though! Thanks.

in the old days ota's used to wipe everything and reinstall the rom, thus removing root. since gingerbread all they use is patch files, thankfully too. could you imagine a 1.5GB "ota"? it checks the hash of all the files its going to be updating, if it needs to update modem and you have a diff modem then it will fail, if you removed an apk it needs it will fail etc.
its why cwm/oudhs will detect if teh su binary has been altered with permissions and /system/etc/install-recovery.sh as they tend to be teh results of otas
Thanks boy.!
Awsome i was waiting for this.! thanks dev.! great :highfive:

Am I understanding this correctly? So if we've rooted and installed a custom recovery but everything else is stock we can accept an OTA without breaking root?

normally id say yes, as teh custom recovery will detect root has been altered and restore it. with this new setuid stuff it is no longer the case :/

This freaking update is nagging me and won't go away. I was talking with @Unknownforce, and now I don't want to install it...
I flashed the Slim Rom and the annoying update went bye bye.
This is really great thread Josh. What do you recommend for a rom. I need wifi teather

Everytime I tried to flash the ota it failed at the flashing point. I'm thinking it was due to the kernal being changed in my root process. I used OUDHS recovery method. ... Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong which I might be.

Really, you have done a great job. I have seen all of your videos, but I did not find anything, which is needed to change. Superb !!.. It helps many people who have a galaxy S4. Thanks a lot for sharing such a helpful thing.

If you didn't remove the stock bloat then you'd need to throw the stock recovery back on.
Have already seen the ota fail with twrp and oudhs.
(That's if you really want the ota to work)

ForceROM has the working hotspot mod. I used it just yesterday. Plus it's debloated and pretty awesome!

as i explained earlier, the only way a ota will pass while you use custom recovery to flash it, is normally if you have custom recovery and root and thats all. alter system in any way and you risk the ota not going. replacing the kernel is guaranteed way to make them fail, almost every ota ever has included a new kernel update.

Q: GN3 N900A/T/V/W, 900, 9005, xxUB/C/D...

I have a rooted SM-N900A and am confused about the compatibility of my device and available ROMs and other flashware out there. A matrix would really help, because I see GN3 goodies on XDA and don't want to flash the wrong thing. Not a lot targeted for 900A specifically.
Obvious to me are the ATT, T-Mobile, Verizon labels. I know I am ATT variant, US, snapdragon, android 4.3, build N900AUCUBMI9.
What I don't know is how code for 900/9005/MJ7/MJ3/MJ6/MJ8/MI7 might affect my MI9. Which are most likely to be compatible with my hardware? And which will most likely brick me?
Regardless if I flash (not sure I'm ready to set Knox 0x1), can someone please recommend a VARIANT COMPATIBILITY GUIDE I can cross-reference? Sticky anywhere? Its not just ROMs, its so I can better follow GN3 threads in general. Thanks!

You can't flash any roms, we have a locked bootloader
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I'm pretty sure it can be done using Odin, but it would absolutely void my warranty by tripping Knox flag to 0x1.
Anyone seen a compatibility matrix across variants?

Like stated previously, you can't flash any roms because we have a locked bootloader. Safestrap has been achieved for the Verizon note 3 (also locked bootloader). They're working on our phone...

Go ahead try with Odin. Don't listen to what other people said and then make a post as to why you bricked your phone or why it's all messed up.

Question regarding SM-G925A (New User) (Root/Updates)

Hi all,
Just picked up a SM-G925A (AT&T). Had a few questions if anyone has some time to spare.
- Is there currently a root available for G925AUCU3BOJ7?
- Tripping KNOX does nothing but void warranty correct?
- Is G925AUCU3BOJ7 the newest update? I've checked for updates and it says your software is up to date but i see posting regarding a "OJ9"
Thanks!
There is no root for OJ7 or above
Tripping Knox has been known to prevent deep sleep on other Galaxy phones.
Current firmware is PD6 marshmallow. It is being sent out in waves so you should get it soon.

Is it possible for me to downgrade?
I see this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...din-files-return-to-stock-att-galaxy-t3106909
Could I Flash these and go downwards and then root? Or is this unadvised? I just purchased the phone and it came with this firmware
Downgrading is not possible

Stable S6 ROM

I am new to rooting and flashing custom ROMS. I have an AT&T Galaxy S6 and I want to know what's the cleanest and most stable way I can root this device and install a custom ROM? I have been having issues since I received an over the air update from AT&T, and even when I reboot my phone to factory settings that update still gets pushed through. So my choice now is get a new phone or try a custom ROM and see if that helps.

If you're on a 6.x att rom (likely since you're talking about an update) you are out of luck for root.
