Using the Vivid/Raider's HDMI - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Before i bought my Raider it said in the specs. that it has HDMI support, when opening the box, it didn't have an HDMI cord. So i'm really curious about it.

I don't know it any of the custom ROMs support MHL either

I think Raider supports it by default.

All three do... On stock ROM with an MHL adapter...

I've always wondered about this myself. You can pick up a MHL-to-HDMI adapter on eBay for about 10 bucks. I just don't know if any/all custom ROMs would support it. I also don't know how well the Vivid could handle 720p or 1080p video output. Mine runs a bit hot when watching 720p videos through BSplayer on the phone screen.

Hopefully outputting to MHL would relieve some strain on the vivid as opposed to powering the LCD. But I don't know; so far as I know, only stock roms support MHL (WCX ICS 4.0.3 supported it, but I know of no others).

Damn. Well. If anyone wants to donate a MHL adapter, I would be happy to see what I can do to get it working
I'd order one myself but my checking account is looking at me like a starving puppy, right now.

Ugh, i hear ya. I can barely pay for rent!

HDMI or something on the nexus one?

Hi,
I want to know if there is a way that I can see my nexus one on the TV. Or if not that, atleast show videos like from YouTube. I can only play audio.
Please help me. My TV has no USB port, but I have a USB thingy connected to my TV through HDMI.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Remote control your Nexus from your PC, and connect your PC to the TV.
But then why would you need Nexus...
I'm afraid it's not possible... the only thing you could do is this.
afaik, the only device through which you can do something like that is desire HD, since it features a mini-HDMI port.
You can't connect it the conventional way, since there's no HDMI port...but you could try through the USB cables
Btw, the Desire HD does not have a HDMI port, but the Evo 4G does.

There is no way to do HDMI mirroring without HDMI support built into the phones hardware, and unfortunately, the N1 lacks any ability to output video to anywhere other than the display on the phone.
What behelit was talking about is using a DLNA server on your device, which will allow you to have your music, videos, and pictures available for people to view over your local network with any DLNA compatible device. All while being wireless. Many newer Samsung and Sony TVs support this, along with a lot of their BluRay players (including other manufacturers) along with the PS3 and the XBox 360. Essentially it works like a dvd player where you will have menus and can pause and rewind and all that fun stuff.
I believe the usb host thread has examples of people using an external monitor, but I don't think the usb output is HDMI...
The USB host thread has people using external USB2HDMI adapter, which gets the output sent for it by the device driver in the OS.
No way to do anything like it without modifying the OS to have USB host capability to begin with. Or building a special external USB host and drivers.

You could try and find a N1 Desktop Dock on eBay and use the mini-HDMI adaptor on that.

[Q] HDMI Mirroring?

How can I best utilize the HDMI Mirror functionality on the phone? I have it working on a Sprint Evo using FullHDMI, but this app doesn't appear to like the Revolution?
Anyone else have it working? If so, how did you get there?
Thanks,
-Rob

I was just about to ask something similar.. I have tried two different brand mini hdmi cables and i can get nothing to show on my TV. I have tried using it for netflix, videos from the gallery, etc with no success. I have tried all three resolution options with no success... has anyone gotten it to work with the built in HDMI options the revolution has?

Duh. I am such an idiot. I didn't look there. I found it, and it worked PERFECTLY on the HDMI input of my HP All-in-one PC, and on my 65" Sharp TV. Full audio and everything using a cheap cable from Amazon.
Thanks to the original responder for the hint on where to find it, much appreciated. To those who say RTFM, you can suck it because there isn't a mention of that to be found in the guide which came with it.

I had no sound at first. Had to change a setting on the TV to tell it to get sound through the HDMI. Works perfect now. Check settings on your TV.

I've gone through settings, enabled HDMI and tried two different TV's (both less than a year old, one is Vizio, the other is Samsung) and neither of them are working. Any Ideas?

At this point, your phone could have a bad micro HDMI port. I'd have it replaced with a new one. But if you feel like its not your phone then take your phone and your HDMI cable to best buy (or any store that sells Televisions) and ask a representitive that you want to test it out before you buy it (the TV ofcourse).
Most reps will let you hook in your HDMI device without causing much fuss.
If your phone works then its your TV.
If it doesn't then you can get another HDMI cable to test out (or find someone who has a micro HDMI phone and test their phone).
If it works on the second cable then problem solved.
If it worked on someone elses device then your phone has hardware issues.

I would need to revert back to stock or they would just write it off as a complication from rooting it....weighing my options...I'll update my findings.

Rooting your phone voids your warranty, so I'm pretty sure Verizon will check for that when they receive your old phone. They will probably charge you the retail price for the replacement phone they sent you.

Mhl hdmi?

Mhl hdmi?
I has already heard wasn't possible but then I saw a site selling it saying normal cables like the one I use to connect to TV with my sgs2 wouldnt work because HTC uses ext-mhl rather than just mhl(dont ask me) so I bought it. Looks like original HTC cable but it doesnt do the trick. went back to stock and what not. No difference. It aint going to happen is it? Ics maybe?

HTC Media Link HD or MHL?

Just looking for opinions. I'd love a wireless solution, but what do you consider better performance wise?

Depends what you want to use it for. If for gaming definitely go wired.
got my media link today, mc3 online works perfect, 1080p movie from sd card works smoothly im not sayin is best device ever but for me is ok.
Don't get a cheap mhl adaptor. I got a cheapy off eBay and it puts the audio ridiculously out of sync.

I had the Medial Link for about 10 days. Used it once on the first day and never used it again. Its great for looking at pictures, but when I was watching Youtube, I had audio sync (i.e. lag) issues. Returned it yesterday.
