I recently updated my USA Xperia TL to the new 4.3 (.295). I used the central european Bond edition. I didn't have any problems, except for what seemed like unnecessary battery drain throughout the day. I updated to the .199 version (the Belgium version on this site), and my battery life improved during the day. HOWEVER, I have woken up both days since the update with a dead phone, almost missing work. Both nights, there was at least 50% battery left when I went to sleep, and it was dead 7 hours later. The system says that the Android OS was responsible for 54% of the battery drain, but it is much less than that during the day. Is there a setting that needs changed, or is this a problem inherent to the update?
Thanks
Did you flash US baseband or are you using 3G (HSPA+) only? I'm experiencing the same problem and the only fix for the battery life so far has been a Tasker script to turn off mobile data while the screen is off. It seems to me that Stamina mode doesn't work with our radios.
I have V. But I still would like to report I had never a high night-time draw as with 4.3, .199.
Here is my night time draw with 4.2.2.

Hello everyone, a few days ago i've update to the latest .244 firmware and from then on my battery life sucks big time. After getting charged to 100% from almost full discharge in 4+hrs charge dropped by god damn 12%. It is getting by drained by cell radio!
Any ideas on how to fix this? Already tried most of the fixes found on these forums such as enable stamina mode, and battery saving at < 30% charge left as well as killing media server. All other connection technologies such as Bluetooth, WiFi, NFC, etc... ARE DISABLED.

INTRO: My Moto X 2014 (xt1092, on 5.0 stock) is having issues with battery drain when idle half of the time. Today was the last straw - My battery emptied by 50% overnight, phone turned off, and I was late for work because no alarm. Data, location, wifi and all Moto feautres were off, but the phone was reported awake and wifi was reported 'on' in the battery stats during the night.
I've already made a post about this behavior and it seems it plagues several users.
My question is if any of you who had similar issues and decided to flash a custom rom based on 5.0.2, 5.1 or 5.1.1 has seen any improvements on this, or if I should be patient for the official 5.1 release. I'm pretty sure it's a software issue and not a battery one, but eventually it will become a battery issue as well if I need to keep it cabled overnight or having it fall down to 0% every other day.
There's no reason not to plug your phone on overnight.
Hello people
I bought z3compact, and I started to have big problems with battery drain, I tried to downgrade on 5.0.2, then tried factory, then 6.0.1 beta, and at least I tried custom rom Lolipop Slim and everytime is same story, I barely had one day battery juice, and when i go to sleep, I lose more than 20% thorough the night, when I go to settings number one in battery using is Cell standby, SOT I have barely 2 hours.
Is there any help, I think the radio is problem.
Thank you very much

Check the mobile radio active time in the apps that show the greatest battery drain. If any of them are more than an hour when you're sleeping, then the big has bitten you. Connect to wifi as a workaround. There's also a supposed fix for the mobile radio active bug somewhere on XDA. Try searching and food luck!

Look at which apps are using the most battery under settings/power management/battery usage.
UNINSTALL facebook, which will be the biggest eater of battery, access it through the webpage
If you have a rooted phone, install AFWall., then restrict whatsapp, twitter,*messging apps* to wifi only, see if that makes a difference. Once you see a difference in batterybehavior, slowly let them back onto mobile data one at a time until you find the culprit (whatsapp probably)
Google Play Services is a usual suspect. Start by turning off synchronise on your google account.
There's a fix for google here.
If you have poor reception of mobile signal in your house, trying turning the phone to GSM.
Settings/wifi/advanced wifi - scanning always available OFF - keep wifi on during sleep ONLY WHEN PLUGGED IN
Research on the BBS thread
If you have a rooted phone download Disableservice from the playstore.
Once it's installed, open the system tab, open Google Play Services, then untick (disable) the following:
ConfigFetchService
FitnessSyncAdapterService
GoogleLocationManagerService
GoogleLocationService
NetworkLocationService
ProximitySettingInjectorService
UserPresenceService
WearableControlService
WearableService
WearableSyncService
then reboot your phone.
Disabling these from running should have no impact on your phone, it doesn't for me, and will give you 10-15% more battery life.
The other thing that extended my battery life was deleting the cached data. Settings\Storage and hold down on Cached data until you get a popup asking you to delete it. I know it sounds bizarre, but it really worked.
As a last resort you could try amplify as it is good at reducing wakelocks, but to get it running requires xposed as well as entering lots and lots of changes to the phone timings, getting these wrong will stuff your phone! Beware

There's an extremely great guide here on XDA on how to save battery Here check this out
It incorporates Greenify which is used to hibernate apps, Amplify which is to limit wakelocks and many more, personally Ive been noticing a great improvement, I only lose 1% per 8 hours per night of sleep
battery
So I tried everything that you wrote, and last hope was KITKAT, and baterry is little bit better but not enough, barely I can use it one day, so when I am on sleep battery % drops quite fast, about 4% per hour, but when I have screen on I have 20- 25 minute in 10 % of battery. do you think it is battery bad or software bug?
Thank you
So guys i put marshmallow, and when the screen is on all day i have 6 h of SOT, but when it sleeps i have barely 1-2 h SOT, what the hell is going on with my phone
Screen on time measures just that, the amount of time the screen is on. You can drain the battery by playing music all day and get 0 hours of screen on time. It is not and should not be used as an indicator of battery life. Send us another screen shot of your usage statistics

Hello!
I've been experiencing worse battery life on my Nokia 8 since Pie upgrade, I haven't installed any apps nor services...
Note that the battery improved -but not as good as Oreo- after calibration using an app...
Are you experiencing the sane issue? Or should I further investigate?
Thank you..
yes
Same here. I got 12 hours screen on time once on oreo but now, it is a dream. Battery drains fastly due to background services. App restriction doesn't work as well as oreo's restriction. So, this situation causes battery draining. Also there is a weird thing i've faced, battery drains quickly from %100 to %95. I am waiting for Maintenance Release impatiently.
is battery life on oreo really that good?
I'm using pie since day 1 and never got more than 7h sot and 1.5 days.
My battery life is dire since pie, I was impressed with the battery in the 8 until this update, I cant even make a day without having to charge. When I say day I mean from 7am to 10pm as its left charging overnight.
Before pie I could quite happily last 2 days between charges, I'm not a heavy user, initially I thought I must be using the phone more. But I'm actually using it less just so it makes it to the end of the day!
Somehow it's worse again today, dead by 4:30!
Basically just checked phone to see the time, around 10 minutes of faffing in the morning, rebooted it before charging last night incase sonething was using battery. Madness!
For me, I've given my phone a factory reset before I installed the Beta labs/initial final(V5.110, December 2018-January 2019) build. Despite that, I did notice my battery life taking a hit when running this iteration of Pie. I was at most getting not more than 5 hours of SoT on average. And I do use my phone a lot throughout the day, the camera, web browsing, videos and social media. Meanwhile on Oreo, I can get 6 hours on average no problem. Sometimes even 7 hours if I'm lucky.
After updating to V5.140(February 2019) with Adaptive Battery brought in, I seem to have gotten back my average SoC just like when my phone was running Oreo. Running 5-6 hours on average. I'm not sure if Adaptive Battery has anything to do with this since I did notice the improvement immediately. I also disabled some of the Evenwell crap before updating to V5.140, so that may or may not have an effect.
If apps restricted didnt work then try manually restrict each app go to ur up hold it then info Then choose battery from there change background restriction
Ifaced this problem in beta when iwas sleep and wake up morning my battery was almost below 20 percent but i manually restrict all apps and its working 100 percent ?
Sorry to heat that. Have you tried installing some apps like better battery stats to see what exactly is saying up your battery? If your phone is rooted consider installing ForceDoze from f-droid and maybe WakeBlock to regulate some wakelocks that may be the cause of your terrible battery life. I have been able to get great battery life using the latest put version. See screenshot below from a few days ago.
I know that this is old thread but i have solution which i use with my nokia. change default launcher to another lightweight. This works and my battery feel better.
I should of updated, battery went back to normal after newer updates.
However, biggest thing for me, using DNS666 Ad blocker has seemingly doubled my battery life, might be a combination of just gotten bored of the phone or blocking all the ad's saves battery, or a bit of both, its also made the phone feel a lot more responsive overall, i'm using Squarehome as my launcher so maybe that was affecting the battery before?
Maybe which update can fix battery life? I rooted my phone and can't download latest update.
Hi,
For a few days Cell standby has been using quite a lot of battery even though. It started when I got VoLTE and VoWIFI, but I turned them off because of the high battery usage from cell standby. No change, it's still high (around 20% in a day).
Also when I check for updates, it says "no updates available", even though a week ago I had some notifications regarding a system update, but when I tapped there was no update. I'm on 11.5.1.0 global version.
Does anyone have any idea? It's such a waste to have a big battery and to get only 3 hours screen on time all day long.
Thanks!

I would do a factory reset and miui firmware update or flash a custom rom eg coltos
