[Q] PC won't find this messed up phone - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay, so this is the status quo of my friends phone: HTC One M7 UL, S-On, HBOOT-1.55, TAMPERED, UNLOCKED
There is no OS instelled, I can only boot into recovery (while booting from the bootloader it starts Team Win Recovery Project v2.6.0.1, when I boot from the phone being off it opens ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.4.6) or bootloader. The internal storage is wiped. My PC is not able to install the device driver software, so I cannot put any files on the phone via USB cable. Also it appears to not be rooted, as the recoveries ask me if I want to install SuperSU. But if I accept this, nothing changes and the next time I get the same question.
All in all almost erverything on this phone is deleted and I have no idea how to put a ROM back on it to flash. Can anyone help me fix this?
Update: Trying out the USB-OTG-cable I get the error "E: Can't mount /storage/usbdisk"

What errors do you have when installing drivers (adb) on your PC?

oh i ment just the ordinary windows "error"

Update: I don't get how to use adb. Could you maybe tell me what to do? I get the respose "List of attached devices" and thats it, doesn't find any.

[Q] [REQUEST] System.img!

So what I would like for someone to help me with is to get the system.img for the first somehow on my the computer so i can flash it via ADB-Fastboot and get my phone to at least power up to the homescreen; this is because just a few days ago i was testing out some 'things' though they didn't work and decided to wipe the phone. The problem is that I erased EVERYTHING on the phone including system, etc. So now because the first doesn't have an sd card slot I cannot get a way to mount a rom and flash a new system.
All i ask for is a system.img or any tutorial that would work, (I've literally spent 2 nights looking for something but they aren't compatible with the first) using the RUU is out of the question because it's apparently encrypted and won't detect my phone since it just hangs on the facebook logo, also the system dumps on the forum that I've seen don't contain the system.img file. Thank you in advance for your help and troubles!
(note that I do not have a way to access ubuntu or any linux computer right now because of various reasons, what i do have is a spare first!)
What's stopping you from flashing a ROM from recovery? ADB push the ROM file into /sdcard from recovery.
The most common fix to get RUU working is to relock your bootloader. You can run RUU from fastboot.

Well recovery works perfectly but there is no rom or file in the sd card at all because of the total system wipe, and ADB doesn't seem to detect my phone since it requires USB debbuging (or am i wrong?) and usb debugging isn't accessible since it hangs on the facebook logo. Only when it's in fastboot does it get recognized; but im not aware of a way to push the rom files through fastboot? I would very appreciate a tutorial if there is! that's why im looking for a system.img that i can flash using fastboot.
And as for the RUU I can't get to the Fastboot screen on the program because it first needs to confirm my phone model and system which it can't because it requires USB Debugging to be turned on on the phone. Also would relocking the bootloader still be necessary even though I have S-off?
About doing the ADB push through recovery to sd card, I don't see any option like that on the menu. I have CWM would I need TWRP for that?
USB debugging is only needed in the OS. In recovery you can do a lot of things even without root. ADB just has trouble detecting a device that's gone through a firmware change, just type "adb kill-server" and try again. You don't need to mount anything to push to /sdcard.
Do RUU as a last resort, since getting S-off again after relocking the bootloader is an elaborate process. But don't worry about the warnings. RUU will work when your phone is in fastboot, the first thing it does is reboot your phone anyway.
Does this help?

[Q] Converting my ONE into a GE Android

So, I unlocked my One, got the S-OFF (HBOOT 1.55), when I was pushing the zip file containing the stock GE ROM, it got stuck on "waiting for device". I've tried uninstalling the drives, and installing them again, but its not working. I can turn on the phone fine, but the Recovery is the Google Bootloader and I can;t seem to find a way to go back to the original HTC Bootloader since it wont let me push files while in the bootloader...
What can I do!?

If you've still got s-off and can use fastboot, you could just change your CID and install a GE ruu.

I do have the S-OFF, however, once I enter the Fastboot menu, Windows wont recognize the device and wont let me push anything. It gets stuck in "Waiting for device". Ive installed the latest Google USB Device drivers using the SDK Manager and nothing has changed. :crying:
Try a different USB cable, or port, or a different computer..
Your phone says Fastboot or Fastboot USB?
Remove unneeded drivers

If Windows PC can see phone in normal working state ( like MTP device / Android ADB / USB disk ect ... ) mean - you no need to worry - HW is OK, then try to use a small free tool called DeviceRemover and just clean unneeded ( wrong / old / damaged / ect.. ) FastBoot driver(s) from your system and then try again to connect phone in fastboot mode. Hint - use last tab "Display Mode" to select "Hidden / Deattached" devices - these that not work for you.

You'll have to use a different computer, one running a pre windows 8.1 os.
Windows 8.1 only recognises fastboot for 1.55 or greater bootloaders at the moment.
I had the same situation and had to re-install windows 8 which was a bit drastic but solved this problem
If you're having trouble with the connection in Windows 8.1 like that your Phone does not get recognised, easiest solution get a Linux Live ISO on a USB stick.
Get Universal USB Installer from here http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/
Let it Download a UBUNTU Live ISO
Let the Programm install it on your USB stick and set the Persistent File Size to your liking
Boot from the stick
Open Terminal Window
Install "adb" and "fastboot" with .... sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot
Connect the Phone and check if the Phone is recognised (fastboot devices or adb devices)
Do the update
Well, it was a driver issue. I did everything using the Mac OS X partition of my MacBook (for some odd reason I thought all this process was "exclusive" to Windows due to the exes and whatnot, but I was wrong). Now I am running the Stock Google Play Edition on my phone with no issues.

[Q] HTC One (M7) Bricked???

Hello. I have the following problem. I friend of mine that I've sold him my old rooted Htc One tried to make 4.4. kitkat
He tried to install
Android_Revolution_HD-One-53.0zip
BUT I don't know how he managed to stuck his phone. The problem is when I am power on the phone it shows the white HTC screen with the red letters "this build is for development purpose only..." after a while reboots in TWRP v2.5.0.0
And that's it , I cannot do anything because my PC won't recognize it via USB cable.
Any suggestions?
(excuse me for my English, with love from Greece )
As long as it boots into Recovery its not bricked. Do you have the HTC Driver installed on your computer?
Android Revolution HD 53 requires min. TWRP 2.6.3.3. Your version is too old.

From recovery go to fastboot connect phone to pc.
It must be recognized.
Then flash boot.img which is in the Revolution.zip.
Then install the rom via recovery.
Remember for unlock and not s-off users the boot.img must be flashed befor flashing a rom.zip.
Sent by myself, without help )
i am doing as you say, but it's not recognized.
I only get a message android phone, not installed properly

SAME problem (or pretty similar) here, trying to instal ARHD61.1... I don't know how did I screw up this so much...
My bootloader is TAMPERED, UNLOCKED, S-On. Recovery TRWP (2.7) launches but... many things don't work.
First thing I have to mention is that I didn't forget to enable debugging before all this started (and now I can't launch android to do it).
My HTC drivers should be up-to-date, as I installed yesterday HTC sync 3.00.52...
In bootloader, if I type "fastboot devices" I get "FA34HW903605 fastboot", and "fastboot reboot.bootloader" does what it is expected to do...
In recovery, "adb push" tells me "error: device not found".
Can someone help me? If you need more details, just ask. Thanks

Let me try and I'll tell you later. I also think it's a matter of drivers, so I was downloading and re-installing it... Thank you for your help
-------------------------------------------------- UPDATE --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, I followed your steps (LET ME THANK YOU FOR MAKING THAT GUIDE) and now the device is "My HTC" as you show.
Something has changed:
If I type "adb devices" (in PC) when phone is in fastboot, the listing is void (before I got "FA34HW903605 fastboot"), and if I do the same while phone is in recovery, I get the mentioned "FA34HW903605 recovery".
In Windows7 I don't see "My HTC" as a conventional USB storage or Memory of a Camera (should it be?)
I've managed to ADB PUSH a ROM (ARHD) in recovery, but now I get an error message: "Unable to mount '/data' " and "Unable to mount internal storage " then FAILED. Now I'll try flashing a new recovery...
WOW WOW WOW!! It was enough for me, sir
1st) Solve comunnication issues as shown in FAQ #2 here
2nd) Solve TWRP recovery mount issues by:
2.a) Installing any other (clockwork) in fastboot using One All In One Kit (eaaaasy)
2.b) Formatting cache, system, data partitions
2.c) Installing TWRP again using One All In One Kit (Android Revolution REQUIRES this recovery)
2.d) Sending the ROM ('adb push your_rom.zip /sdcard/wherever_you_want_it')
2.e) Installing it from TWRP recovery.
An that was all. THANKS A LOT nkk71; without your help I still would be here trying to figure out what's broken... Thanks.

no problem, glad to be of help
remember for most 4.4 ROMs, (for m7_u/ul) TWRP 2.6.3.3 (or higher) is recommended at the moment.
though you should be good by downloading it, then checking MD5 to make sure the download isnt corrupt (that site doesnt work with download managers), then:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
-> enter recovery and push the rom
Thank you all for your support, but still the problem remains.
I have installed HTC Drivers and when i connect the HtcOne i can hear the USB beep from windows but i cannot open the phone like a drive.
In other words i cannot add files to the phone :crying::crying:

It wont be so easy, I'm afraid. Even if comunication issues are solved, you won't be able to copy your ROM using windows file manager, opening the phone like a conventional drive...
You have to install "ADB" in your PC (search in HTC ONE subforums, there's a lot of info about ADB pusing (=copying) ROMS) and use it to copy your ROM. One advice: while "pushing" the ROM, be patient: it takes a long time. When your ROM is "pushed", just install it in recovery and... that's it!!
I think here you have a good starting point.

Cannot connect to fastboot through ADB

Hi guys. I've had my HTC one for a while now and it had TWRP flashed on it. About a week ago I flashed the android revolution rom, worked well but my camera went really weird if I looked back at some recordings. So I wanted to revert back to stock everything. I flashed a stock recovery for the M7, after that I had the problem of not being able to connect my device to the computer when I fastboot mode. Simply wouldn't pick it up when I typed ADB devices in cmd. My device wouldn't show up after installing stock recovery. And it doesn't want to restore any roms either in stock recovery mode. I can't even access my folders in that mode to flash any roms. I click either apply from sd card, apply from phone storage. Says for a split second check CID failed or something and reboots itself.
I cannot flash TWRP back cause my computer since it can't pick it up. I've tried everything. Changing USB ports, uninstalling my drives for htc. Changing computers, unlocking, relocking bootloader. No result. I'm screwed cause I'm stuck on this android revolution rom, rooted. Just wanna flash custom recovery. I can connect it to my computer, access folders and add things to it but soon as I turn it off and go into fastboot mode it says fastboot usb and can hear the noise when its connected but it doesn't show up in adb devices and when I flash the TWRP it starts send then comes up with FAILED. Help please, would be appreciated!

Adb only works if you'te booted to OS or custom recovery. Command you're looking for in bootloader menu is "fastboot devices"
Fala Puno. Ja sam raditi sada. I'm of Croatian decent in Australia. I'll try this later when I return home
Fixed it! I'm an idiot, I didn't realise I was flashing the m8 twrp instead of m7. That's why it failed. Lol. Anyway thanks

HTC One Mini 2: Wiped System, sdcard, external sdcard

Hi there,
I had installed TWRP on my HTC One mini 2, but accidentally "wiped" system, sdcard and external sdcard. I'm now trying to enter Recovery but the procedure isn't working anymore (before wiping I could enter Recovery mode manually by following the procedure). When I connect my phone to my computer, I get an error message ""This device cannot start. (Code 10)". Before wiping the device, it was detected and I could use ADB and FASTBOOT. I've search a lot on internet but can't solve this issue.
I hope someone can help me so that I can enter recovery and install another ROM.
Thanks

Do you have any other other suggestions?

need a bit more info to try help better.
are you able to enter HBOOT then FASTBOOT?
Is the device recognized in laptop? "fasboot devices"
When you try to enter recovery what happens? error? black? anything?
are you using original HTC cable?
I can't enter either hboot or recovery. When I follow the procedure, the phone just reboots and nothing else is happening. When it reboots, I can see the HTC logo.
I have tried to install the drivers on four different laptops but the phone isn't being recognized and thus can't use any adb or fastboot commands. I'm using the original usb cables I got with this phone.
Please advice.

you should be able to enter HBOOT. if you doing it right and still cannot enter them you'll need to send phone to HTC.
Ok. I was able to enter HBoot before I formated/wiped the system and sdcard location. Can you confirm that I should be able to enter HBoot even after formating/wiping the whole phone?
