Hey everybody, so I've been tempted for a long time to start using CM (although I can't imagine living without TouchWiz) so I wanna ask those of you who have been using CM for some time and have all kinds of stuff like heavy games, every-day apps and stuff like that to say how they run. Last month I updated to the latest ANA2 firmware, but it still lags So can anyone tell me how the following games run on CyanogenMod 11.0 :
GTA 3
GTA Vice City
GTA San Andreas
Fast & Furious 6
Eternity Warriors
If those games don't lag anymore, I'm definitely moving away from TouchWiz, at least until I buy a flagship, which can handle it LOL

I've been using CM11 for more than 2 months and I play games all the time, here's the games I currently have installed:
FIFA 14 - Perfect
GT Racing 2 - Perfect with graphics on high
Real Racing 3 - Perfect with normal graphics, SLIGHTLY laggy with RR3 Graphics app set on Very High.
GTA: SA - Very Very Good
I can tell you that my performance is way better than what it was on stock 4.1.2.

thanks. guess i'll give it a go then two more questions - do i need to wipe data and cache before flashing CM or just after the flash is complete? and can i flash it using CWM 6.0.2.7 (i don't get why McClaw says everywhere "flash with TWRP")?

Hey,
I've been wanting to buy Modern Combat for some days now, but.... I don't know how it runs on my o4x? Has anyone already bought the game, and is able to tell me if it runs smooth? Because I think it's a bummer if you spend 6 bucks on a game that doesn't even run propper on your device. So please let me know!
Thanks,
Luuk
I would wait till it goes on sale. Gameloft games usually go on sale at around XMAS time.

Ever since I got cyanogenmod 10.1 every game seems to run much smoother! So a couple of months ago it ran ok, with some lag here and there. But I think now it'll run allright, with little to no lag
Our phone has issues with running the gpu at low clocks, that's why this game lags. To improve the framerate you can lock the GPU frequency using this tutorial:

I've tried DH on stock and CM (without changing kernel) and it's totally fine for me when the phone is cool.
The problem is WHEN THE PHONE IS COOL! put an ice bag to the back of the phone should solve the throttle.
jk, I have a small netbook fan and put the phone on it every time I play game
Another point to consider is check if you set the GPC frequency to too low, I use the setting: CPU 1000MHz x4, GPU 225MHz

Some custom kernels (e.g. werewolf) allow the phone to operate properly at higher temperatures (i think sth. about 80°C, LG standard is about 70°C).

I know, but it will kinda not good for the battery, the skin temp default is 43 but kernel starts to throttle at 40, werewolf kernel push it to 50 (as far as I remember). anw, it still produce a lot of heat and might potentially throttle again. Raising the alarm threshold is not a cure, just make the phone not throttle easily. Ice bag is better

Try different kernel and different combination of scheduler and governor. Every kernel have a "performance" governor.
Btw don't forget that the benchmark are not really representative of the true performance of a device.
It is always good to have some big numbers, but some benchmark apps can be hacked easily to show to incredible scores (and in particular Quadrant).

Did you install CM nightlies? I heard they are more bug-free and has better performance than RC versions.By the way, don't expect any custom ROMs to be faster than stock ROM for the moment, most of them has a lot of bugs or performance issues, stock ROM is the best choice for now.

I've been reading user opinions in GSMarena.com
and all the people over there are complaining of laggy interface, system, app lunch and many apps causing FC
and they also say the battery is draining like crazy !!
Never had random restart or FC more than once every couple of days and only in some messed up apps like Facebook. What's app, chrome, opera, viber,Skype, xda app, instagram never had fc. Battery life isn't great.I can't tell you if you should or shouldn't buy this device I did and I am happy but again we are different persons.

Well, I installed vanir rom recently and I am very happy with everything. If custom roms are taboo for you, dont get this phone, it will be a dissapointment, especially because of battery life.
Big drains in battery life are LG MLT?(IDK how its called),Logging service, Google Transport Services. If you dont root, you will get horible battery life.
You need at least root to disable this things.
Personally i had no lags on any of the stock roms but i switched to custom roms because of the horrible statusbar color. I'm currently using Cyanogenmod 10.2 nightly and i have no lags.
I'm sure there are fast, stock based roms out there if you for some reason do experience lag on the stock rom.
I was thinking in build a cm7 rom for xperia sp, because 4.1.2 and 4.3 is a crap, cm11 still buggy.
I always liked how gingerbread is fast and lightweight, and for gaming is incredible due to ram free.
What I want is to anyone help me to build this rom (or do this work for me ) because I'm tired of this lagness and slowness, and force close on heavy games, if I knew before, I don't had bought this phone.
Can anyone please help me if possible?
Dont know but i havent any force close on heavy games. Im on cm11. All work. Dont know if 2.3 will support all - new in these case - hardware.
I don't think it will be worth it. How many major games still support Gingerbread? Sooner or later, it's going to be dropped. It's an old version of Android. Besides, games seem to run fine on CM11, for me at least.
Going into specifics, PAC ROM 4.4.4 is very smooth. Use of themes and custom lockscreen takes up lot of RAM. I use my phone to play heavy games, apart from it heating up like crazy, got no problems.
