Heating anyone? - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced any "extreme-ish" heat like I have? I was in class and let a girl use my phone to look for a case for her One Max she said "wow your gets hot" it just seemed like normal (very annoying) heat. She said her One Max gets warm but not like mine. It just gets hot whenever I am using it no matter what rom/kernel. I have the Black one if that helps at all (maybe the black doesn't dissipate the heat as well?).........And to add this question to it (doesn't pertain to the main question at all). To anyone that has the silver model, does it show any fingerprints, collect any oil, or have a texture on the back of the device for you? Mine does, I thought it was going to feel like cold metal when I first bought it, but it feels like a matte black texture. Thanks

Mine phone will get hot or warm the more it is used. The case should dissipate the heat. I have mine in a otterbox box so not as bad.
The phone doesn't have a fan to keep it cool, and the processer is reaching PC speeds, so there is going to be a little heat. Know that the phone has built in over heating protection, you can see it if you leave your phone in a warm car, the LED will flash orange.

HTC Touch in "carbon fibre"

So I wanted a bit of a different look to my HTC casing. However I don't like silicone or other add-on cases, so I went a different route. On a lark I went to Canadian Tire since I remembered they used to have a fake carbon fibre vinyl available (don't ask how I know). However I found an even better one which looks a bit more realistic (and is slightly transparent so when you place it over coloured surfaces the underlying colour comes through).
Wrapped it around my HTC front and back (took the back cover off to do it). Once you lay it on you can use an exacto-knife to trim out the parts you don't want covered. Then used a heat gun to help wrap the edges without wrinkles (that just happened to be on sale too!).
The finished product:

Maybe not everyone's taste but unless you get REALLY close its fairly hard to tell its not an OEM finish (IMO).
I was in a auto parts store the other day and you know what I saw the exact product you used for this pretty cool in my opinion though I prefer the soft touch feal maybe if my phone gets banged up enough I might do this but looks good
I wish some company would release a leather battery cover, or a way to make it all leather. I think it would look very nice

Freaking dropped it!

But it took it like a champ. Brand New AT&T LTE 8.9. I was taking it into the AT&T store to get a sim card, and while getting out of the truck, I grabbed the box, but the opening was facing away from me, and the Tab simply beat me out of the truck. Face down onto the pavement from about 5'.
Thank GOD it still had the protective plastic still on the front and the rear. All I ended up with was a two chipped up corners.
I was sure the screen was going to be cracked when I heard it smack face down. First time EVER dropping a tablet.

A couple chips sucks but much better than a cracked screen. These tabs look to be pretty solid as far as i can tell. Maybe pick a case up that'll cover the corners.

Yea, doesn't bother me too much. I'm just very picky when it comes to my electronics. I like everything pristine!
i know what you mean. i can be pretty anal about mt electronics too. glad to hear nothing bad happened though.

Is overheating a problem?

after some days i bought my first zuk somehow it stopped working. Amazon replaced it with no problem.
This second phone, imo, is suffering of over heating. After 2-3 minutes of heavy usage it became really hot, almost not touchable. Does anybody else noticed this heating? On the long term, is this bad for the phone? Should i not use it when it's hot?
Thank you
It's not normal. My zuk gets really hot after 30-50mins of gaming. For the first 20mins its cold.
these are temps after 20 minutes of playing video on cardboard

aren't 60C too high?
My phone is heating up to 75° C
Is it normal or I have to replace it.
The device m using is already a replaced one
Earlier set was also having the same problem.
My battery max. Temp reaches to 45° C
My CPU max. Temp reaches to 75°C
What should I do... :'(
Same here, guess we have a really hot device with high reaches..............
Lenovo phone is hetting also. And hanging problem
Heats up to a noticeable degree in the metal parts while gaming (asphalt, nova and such).. Doesn't heat up at all in normal usage. Has never been 'too' hot such that I feel uncomfortable holding it.. All in all, I'm satisfied with it.
P.S. Not in stock rom, I should add. Using DU with its stock kernel.

Newly purchased - Small slit at top?

I can't find information elsewhere on the internet, so I thought I would confirm here. I just purchased this phone and where the metal border meets the glass screen at the top, there is a very thin gap. It begins just before the decorative matte strip at the top. It became more noticeable (assuming dust is getting in) the more I've been talking on the phone.
Is this the speaker?
upload a photo of it, personally I don't recognise what you're describing.
I just peeled back my case enough to look, yes that seems to be the speaker opening.

You have to zoom in. The gap starts and ends where I posted the arrows. I can fit a folded post it inside it by about 1mm.
All I can assume is that this is the speaker location.
yes I have that too. I had never noticed it until you prompted me to look.
thinking about it, it would be weird if nothing was there.
nice colour choice BTW

Yes I believe it's a speaker as well.

DIY Phone Strap

Made this for the safe keeping of my 8T. I was using a Gordy's leather strap, but my 6mo puppy ate it. *facepalm*

You want a multistrand braid tether attachment.
Monofilament nylon fails with little or no warning.
I used 500lb nylon. Do you think that will work? I definitely want it strong, so looking for opinions here.

Obviously that's not able to hold 500#.
The problem is the monofilament, it's all or nothing. Multistrand usually shows signs of abrasion and impending failure.
Clear nylon is also UV sensitive and doesn't weather well in dry environments.
You want a tether preferably that has no metal rings or such that can scratch the phone. Most phone cases lack good attachment points or accommodate only ridiculously thin tethers. I want at least a 50# tensile strength. First time it gets snagged on something you'll know why...
The weakest link theory applies very much to tethers.
I wear BDU cargo pants so I just use a good case and the thigh pocket. This works well even with large phones and they don't drop out but are still easily accessible.
You'll need to put some thought and searching into this to find the best solution for you.
Thanks for the assist. This strap is mostly to get me through until my new Gordy's arrives. His straps are built like tanks.
