I have a Dev Edition that I flashed CWM recovery on. The bootloader now shows Tampered, (thanks HTC). I see there is a Dev Edition RUU. If I use it to go back to stock, will it leave the bootloader unlocked and will it get rid of the Tampered indicator?

it will still say tampered even if RUU. If you ever unlocked it, itll show tampered unless you get s-off and replace with proper hboot. :crying: To run Ruu you have to relock bootloader. "Fastboot OEM Lock" But again that wont fix the tampered

It came factory unlocked. I'll assume you mean if I ever flashed a custom recovery.

I'm sorry yes. I always do them the at the same time. its one or the other :cyclops:
And actually since its a dev edition, try the ruu. It might have a different outcome. :fingers-crossed: I've never owned a dev edition so i havent tried myself. I thought you had to actually unlock it like the OG nexus, i didnt realize they were unlocked out of the box, Nice to know. If you run the ruu, let me know the outcome please. On every HTC phone i've had that wasnt s-off, tampered stayed no matter what.
Hi guys,
Running the latest cm10.2 nightly, unlocked bootloader, hboot 1.54, s-on.
Can I return to stock? So far all I see is that i need s-off to return to stock, but hboot 1.54 does not allow s-off? or am i confused?
stock would need to be O2-UK

This is likely to be the only method I can use, but how do i check if i'm a .401 device? The link for more info doesnt work...

You can never remove it completely, but with s-off you could "lock" it again.. "relocked" is always possible (command: fastboot oem lock).

I am s-off and bootloader unlocked. stock rom and stock recovery.
Which command locks the bootloader? I want it to show "locked"
and which command makes the phone s-on again?

what's the point of asking the same questions many times?
follow the advice you have already been given.
I have the purple tint. I am wondering what the easiest way to remove the TAMPERED and RELOCKED flags from fastboot is. I am currently not rooted, am on stock recovery and ROM, as well as S-ON. Any way to help me would be much appreciated.

Use firewater to S-OFF, if you can't then look at another guide (I think there's one in the general section).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2477792 will help you to remove tampered,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475914 will help you to lock/unlock.
If you're wondering how to go from S-OFF to S-ON, do this in fastboot:
Code:
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3

Are you running a custom ROM or stock ROM? And if it is stock ROM, does version are you running and does it match your current firmware? Please post a fastboot getvar all and remove your Serial No and IMEI
Because you are S-ON, you cannot LOCK the bootloader again, instead it will read RELOCKED. You need to be S-OFF to change the lock status
You may also get a TAMPERED message when you lock the bootloader using the command fastboot oem relock
If all is running stock I would chance it and send it in for repair, as at the end of the day this is a hardware fault not brought around by unlocking your bootloader

not 100% true, dont send your phone back relocked, you will need to do whatsteve says and get s-off, then flash an early RUU and HBOOT before locking the bootloader and going s-on, otherwise you risk the tampered flags coming back, the phone must be 100% stock.
HTC will refuse a warranty repair in any other condition, they will blame you on the grounds that since you unlocked the bootloader you could of done anything with the phone like flashed an unsupported kernal and overclocked etc, the camera issue is caused by overheating.

From my own experiencea friend sent it in with an unlocked boot loader and they repaired it. But they may have just been lucky.
I wouldn't return to s on on any bootloader later than 1.54, as when you do the writesecureflag command the phone will display a TAMPER DETECTED message and then you're back to square one
Best thing to do would be achieve s off using sunshine
Downgrade hboot to earlier version e.g. 1.44
flash an earlier RUU
Use revone to reset the status of the bootloader to LOCKED, ensure tamper message is not there
Then, if you really must, run the writesecureflag command. That's how I've done it before, and after hboot 1.54 you will def get the tamper detected message
I always leave my phone s off tho

you need s-off so you can downgrade using a ruu, lock the bootloader and turn back s-on.
Try sunshine s-off and then follow nkk71's guide linke in my signature.
