I don't want to unlock bootloader and void the warranty, but the disable button for the motorola OTA app is disabled. How do I get around this? I am unable to downgrade from 4.4 (not sure why as I thought the bootloader downgrade was only disabled in 4.4.2) and want to wait until there is a rooting option for 4.4 which doesn't void the warranty.

A quick Google or xda search would get you MANY answers. This has been talked about 100's of times.
Xda Rule number one, search before posting.
I'll start you with one thread.

I have searched and I seem to be experiencing a unique problem. I'm not able to root without unlocking (which I won't do) even though I am on 4.4 and not 4.4.2. I am looking for a solution to my SPECIFIC problem.

The problem is that I can't downgrade at all from 4.4 to any 4.2.2. I have seen those before and I will double check. My question really just goes to disabling OTA (not just hiding notifications) without root.

From what I quickly read, you can't without root.

Maybe you downloaded the pre camera build. Try downloading the sbf again but make sure you get the 2nd update the Moto X has received, which is 4.2.2. And as others have said, before you post, read, then read, and read some more. If you feel like you have read the entire Internet, you are about half way done reading.

Anyone knows if there will be an update to 4.2?
I couldn't find an answer on the net but I read rumours that the Z will get the update soon (maybe march).
Is a fast port possible? or do you think we will get an official update too?

Sony have made no announcaements on future updates of the T past 4.1.2
If an official 4.2 is releaed for other xperia devices it should be easy to port to the T
PS, This is the second time I have wrote this post just today....please search
Well.better not put 4.2 on any device. This whole 4.2 is awfully optimized and with ton of bugs(g nexus and nexus 4) and they have the cleanest android so...

there is no reason
i did it
With the advent of the 4.2.2 sense roms reading the CID to determine which data icons you get, S-Off has a purpose there. For us with AT&T phones that means unless we don't change the AT&T CID we get AT&T data icons automatically. Changing that to either a generic(HTC__001) or US dev edition (BS_US001) with the fastboot oem rewritecid command will make you have the international icons. You could also use superCID, but for me at least I was having issues receiving texts using superCID.

If you don't know what s-off is then the chances are that you really don't need it.
Imagine if you can that your phone is a big box. With s-on that box is made of steel: you can drop it, throw it at a wall, store it in a tank of water and you're not likely to do it any real harm. With s-off it's made low grade glass.

If u don't know what it's for then you don't need it. It's as simple as that. Not a lot else to add because if u knew what S-OFF was you'd know if u need it

yes you can unroot simply by flashing a stock rom and use the revone tool to lock or relock your bootloader. if you re-lock, your warranty is still voided but if you lock the bootloader then you are good to go.

Agreed if you haven't read about it in the past two months or had HTC before and know what it is it may be best to keep s on so you don't brick yourself. S off allows you to change stuff that the average flashaholic should not change. One wrong move in a hex editor or ruu mode and you sir will have a very nice shoe horn

S-Off is for alot of low level stuff on the phone, flashing radios, hboot, getting rid of the red development text, tampered text from recovery, also it is possible to sim unlock with s-off although there isnt a 100 percent success rate atm, also changing your device identifier (CID) is possible with s-off, this allows you to flash any RUU that's available (SuperCID).
Hello. Yesterday, I attempted to root my Motorola RAZR i. Here is exactly what I did:
I followed the steps to unlocking the bootloader. After that, the phone did a factory reset (for some reason) and it went into the stock Motorola home screen. I then went ahead and used Bakatang RAZR i root utility to get Superuser, Busybox and such in the ROM. After that, it was stuck in the BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED warning. It constantly reset itself and later went into a black screen with green LED state. I managed to enter the fastboot after a while but Bakatang stopped recognizing the phone.
I assume Bakatang tweaked the bootloader and eventually broke it. I can currently access recovery by holding POW, +/-VOL and the camera button, the phone resetting and letting go of everything but -VOL. The battery was at 15% - 22% during all of this. Did I do something wrong? Can it be fixed? Please reply as soon as possible.
You bricked your Razr i, because you didn't read. The Kernel - Root Exploit was for ICS ONLY. I guess you flashed it on an JB Razr.
Charge your Battery in Fastboot Mode (with your Wallcharger!) and flash the Stock JB Boot.img back, as soon as your Battery stated as "OK".
BTW: Keep your Hands away from any ICS related Fastboot File or Stuff!

I can't get any other rooting software except kingo to root my device...Ive tried just about every rooter on here, and from what im just now reading on here kingo has severe security issues...which has me worried. Would that be a possible explanation for the roms im installing not allowing my wifi to activate? Cause if so id, like help actually getting one of these root...ers, on here to actually root my device.
But I always get that weird system/bin/su not found error when I use doomlordz easy rooter...with kingo It's flawless and quick, but there's probably a really bad reason for that....help please...

Yes sir, im on 10.3.1.E.0.191 on the t-mobile C6606... USB and unknown source allowed. It always says there is a system/bin/SU error Which is frustrating because i know it has to work, hundreds of others have done it, so that means its either my phone or me messing up somewhere along the lines....and id really like to not have china Tracking me on GPS and sending a missile through my bedroom window.

So since kingo is the only way does that mean there is no way to fix the Wifi, not working issue? it doesn't turn on...its greyed out and when I can press it it just keeps saying turning on...I use the PhilzTouch Recovery system....
