Hi guys,
I'm trying to flash a custom rom on a friend's galaxy s, I m not new at this, been flashing roms on HTC since 2 years so I m familiar with the processes.
I found that flashing a galaxy s was a bit different and I m having some issues...
I have rooted the phone with the one-click tool, flashed clockwork recovery via Rom Manager, now when i launch my recovery I can only access the stock recovery and not the one I flashed. i read somewhere that when in the stock recovery I have to launch the clockwork recovery as an update.zip, but whenever I try it says that "signature verification failed"...
Could somebody help me please ?
what rom does your friend have?

Bad section i think.
What's your current rom, and what do want to do with cwm?
You probably have to downgrade stock recovery from 3e to 2e first. Look around for "Elof's guide ". Good luck.

Search the Dev section for a rom called EZbase, follow the instructions then move to what ever rom you want.
Or just use Odin and flash hardcores kernel . There's instructions on how to do that in his thread. Then you will have 2e recovery.

You may not be able to access CWM, but I'm sure you can access the Q&A section right? This is where it belongs.
Btw, you have not tell us what stock firmware your friend galaxy s has, and what custom rom you are going to install. All custom roms has easy installation guide and some even has video guides on how to install. Perhaps you can also access the Search button.
Sorry for the wrong session post.
I've upgrade to 2.3 via Kies and rooted my phone already, but I have no idea how to flash CWM Recovery. When I try to via the market rom manager app, the only options are Epic 4G and GalaxyS i9000. Any ideas?
I've looked at this guide, although it's in Thai Google translate does well enough, but I'm no longer on 2.2 and my device is already rooted, so I'm not sure if I can still use part of it to get CWM Recovery.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Hi,
The site you reffer to looks like a guide to install Android 2.3.3 If you followed that guide to install and root your device, you should have CWM installed and have it available when rebooting with Volume-UP + Power...Besides, if you want CWM to flash anything you'll need to have the zips on your SD, then navigate in CWM to 'install from SD | choose zip | navigate to required file and press Home to flash...

I appreciate your response, but the issue is I didn't upgrade to 2.3 using this guide but with Kies as opposed to this guide using Odin. I really want to install BOCA!

eeehm, yah ... errr well then, why don't you just pick up the files and flash it ? It might be possible you'll need to reflash the bootloader (cfr. Chainfire) to flash without any problem any ROM you'd like to...
How can i uninstall cmw? because i installed it, but i dont need it( i downloaded from an link from youtube whit rooting and that package dont have root =)) but in title his name is rooting samsung galaxy ace 2.3.6) and now i cant root my phone. Anyone?
More information please...what do you mean by you installed cwm but now you cannot root? Usually cwm is installed after rooting...just leave cwm there...it's very useful for backups and custom rom flashing...or if you really hate it (why would you? Lol), just flash a stock rom via odin and reroot without cwm...
I think he installed CWM without rooting the phone now he cant root it with CWM

Hi.
I've been trying to root my phone, Samsung Galaxy S5830 (not plus or Ace 2), I downloaded many root files and nothing worked, I used universal_gb_root_v25.zip, It shows Installation complete in CWM but the Superuser App doesn't show up. Also in Root Checker it says No proper root access. What to do ?
I have tried all the tutorials on XDA including these popular ones,

CWM Recovery
U should use stock recovery to root stock rom. But if u r looking to flash a custom rom, then u don't need root. Flash custom rom directly via cwm.

Flash your stock firmware back using odin through Download Mode. Make sure to backup all the necessary data before that. Goto Recovery Mode and install Root and then CWM. Finally reboot and you are good to go. Now flash any custom rom you want. Hope I Helped

That's odd because the apk is meant for S5830. It should be working. As for the Method 4, did you grant the root permission? su basically is used to ask for the Super User (root) privileges. Once you type su in Terminal Emulator, you need to grant it the permission so that the following commands can be executed.
Thanks other problem

I think your device is unrooted. Since you have already installed CWM, you will not be able to traditionally root your device. You have to always root first then install CWM. Anyway, backup all apps and data. You can flash stock rom back from odin and then re-install everything back. Here is the link on how to install stock rom using odin along with all necessary files (check the "Preparations" section),
How to Install Stock ROM on Galaxy Ace Using Odin [GT-S5830]
All Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 Stock Firmwares (2.3.X) Ever Released
If your PC cannot recognize the phone, its usually the drivers. Once installed, go to recovery mode and do a wipe data/ factory reset & wipe cache (otherwise bootloop might occur). Then restart. Now you have successfully flashed the stock rom. Here is the link for rooting and installing CWM 5 on Samsung Galaxy Ace,

If you are gonna use CM 7, CM 9, CM 10 roms, then CWM 5 is more than enough. Even with CM 11 roms, one rom (KitKat for All) works quite well with CWM 5. Hope I Helped
