[Q] Verizon LG G2 4.4.2 OTA Update yet? - Verizon LG G2

Curious if anyone has been updated from Verizon yet. I want to use stock instead of a ROM but really like KitKat.

Verizon won't release the update until they find a way to make it laser etch the Verizon logo onto your forehead via the front camera. Welcome to Verizon. Land of those who are updated last. I got fed up with Verizon (not just bc of update history) and switched to att. Cheaper and I get better reception at my place.
So in summation:
VZW 4.4.2 perks include:
Laser etching of the Verizon logo onto your forehead whether you want it or not
Device will self apply 76 more Verizon logos onto itself bc all of the things love Verizon
9 GB of bloat (Verizon exclusive!! You're welcome)

At&t isn't much better on updates. Note 3 still MIA, but Sprint version has it.
I predicted early summer for G2 kit Kat on Verizon. I'm sticking with that prediction.

Ha, not that I am any more excited about always being last in the update line, but that does force us into the position of getting to watch and see if everyone else has issues with kk on their versions of the phone

i know what they mean im switching to the nexus5 in a month keeping the g2 want to install custom rom but am afraid freegee might brick my phone on 12b and dont know how to install it through adb on 12b has anyone installed twrp through freegee recently maybe in the past day or so

Ive used freegee a few times to install twrp, its actually the only way i can get it installed on my g2. But here last week i rooted my g2 again, i go back and forth between unrooted and rooted. And i used freegee again to install twrp 2.6.3.3 and then went into recovery and updated to 2.7 and everything has been great.

Freege won't brick it, I used it in 12b no problem

Just flash the rom using twrp. And then learn to punctuate. (Sorry, pet peeve.)

Not yet.

Verizon OTA VS98012B don't lose ROOT

Just read on Droid-life that the second update for LG G2 for Verizon has been approved. We aren't getting 4.3 just yet, but a few fixes. I was looking forward to fixing camera issues and that annoying jittery touch screen. Either way if you don't want to take a chance of losing root, tethering or/and if you have a custom recovery installed (TWRP and CWM) then you probably want to wait until the update get broken down so we can apply the update without losing ROOT or custom recovery.
I used Titanium Backup to FREEZE
"Software update MUC 6.4.1_B02-LG"
hit my blog for other LG G2 related stuff.

That's always the rule of thumb... ota = the devil. I always wait for rooted ota zips for any device. If you don't and you ota and lose root and your first born everyone will just say "Never ota. Hopefully they find a new exploit"

You can root and install custom recoveries now on 12B.
24A Kitkat is released too. So you'll want to root before updating because kitkat hasn't been rooted yet, on any device.

24A is posted in Verizon Dev.
I'm pretty sure 4.2.2 can be rooted. Its 4.4 that hasn't been rooted yet, on any device. The G2 is one of the lucky few because updates don't kill root.

So being that I have only had the g2 less than a month..and I'm not super familiar with adb, is there a better guide to get root on Verizon?
I have the root on any device, but can't get an adb window to "check devices"
Sent from my VS980 4G using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Well you have to make sure the right driver is installed and adb drivers are good. Check USB Debugging. Put USB Connection to ETHERNET, do ADB DEVICES in a command prompt. You should get a popup on the phone asking permission to allow adb.
Pretty easy.

Nevermind. I got it. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Flash cricket to New firmware possible?

I have a droid 4 with bad esn, I want to update from ics but need to use cricket, is this possible?
Sent from my SeXperia Ion
You can use the phone on cricket but you need to flash over to cricket. I have my Droid 4 on cricket with talk, text, Internet and MMS. I also using CM 11 nightly builds using Safestrap 3.65.
So it can be updated to the latest firmware, and still be flashed to cricket?
I found some tutorials, but they were done when the phone had ics, so I was concerned that maybe that method may not work.

Confirmed flash works on jellybean.
Sent from my XT894 using Tapatalk
OK, well I've been up all night trying to use a tutorial and it's not working. There's no PC mode so I tried BP tools mode. Still not working. I'm probably just going to pay someone to do it. I'm literally giving this phone to a friend out of the kindness of my heart, but I don't want to end up paying a bunch of money.

I used a web service called flash to talk. Good service and quick. Are u on stock BTW?
Sent from my XT894 using Tapatalk
Yeah, it's stock. It's jelly bean, says there's a small update but I read its harder to root so I'm not doing it.

Not really just do the update and reset smart actions and follow RAZR blade root. Easy peasy.
Sent from my XT894 using Tapatalk
I called that flash to talk. They are only for busineses not individuals. They refered me to a local place, which told me that cricket and Verizon are sharing blacklist soon so it's not worth it.
Good news is I found out that my esn is actually NOT bad! Awesome.

Very dangerous. Don't attempt it WILL NOT work
Lemme get this straight; you're using a Sprint ONE with T-Mobile? And you want to flash a Verizon radio? WHAT?

Yeah haha. Someone said they used Verizon Rom and it worked good except for voice. So I was curious. I have tools using a unlocked sprint htc one yes. I want to flash a kitkat Rom but I can't cause it will only use edge and that's something I can't deal with

Not a good idea. Do not do that. Could very well brick a phone.

Asking Best buy or AT$T to image older rom

I see some mention of this as a solution, although it look some it's only for those that downgraded to NB5.
.I am trying to understand what would happen if AT&T or BB try to image an older ROM on to the 4.4 leak that some of us are RUNNING, including me.
Assuming AT&T / BB agree to try, has anyone had success this way?

he is not talking about custom roms but a stock image a att service center or best buy can do it and will
I took my Note 3 in to BB yesterday. I'm running the Leaked MLG 4.4.2.
The Samsung dudes were unable to get NB4 to load over the leak.
My BB didn't even have the NC2 (official KK release) in their system yet.
Going to try a different BB tomorrow.

i had the same issue.i restored to mj5 by following the post here at xda then had bb reflash to nb4. no probs updating to kk via ota.
ATT rep told me that if they attempt to restore a 4.3 image over KK it will brick the phone so they won't do it.
Because my phone wouldn't boot when I brought it in they couldn't confirm the OS version. I had to sign a waiver acknowledging my phone might become a brick and releasing them of liability before they would agree to restore my phone.

there is a working method to get the official OTA to update on your phone, Miata just posted a thread about how to do this after restoring to MJ5 and taking the NB4 updated.
he has a file that you flash and after that the OTA update should not fail anymore. Yall should try it out instead of waiting on BB or Att to do something that you can do.

[Q] Possible To Flash Custom Recovery to KitKat Yet?

I seem to have gotten over my head here being fairly new to android in general but wanting to try out all the new stuff lol.
Basically, I updated my LG G2 with the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant but after updating proceeded to screw up a few system files in the process. The kicker is I didn't know that installing this update was going to remove my TWRP custom recovery!
So now... It seems I am stuck with a buggy kitkat and cannot reinstall it because
- my custom recovery is gone and it seems that I can't reflash it do to my being on kitkat (24a)
- Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant won't upgrade the phone again because in it's view I have the latest and greatest.
- using factory reset doesn't seem to be fixing the underlying issue of system files being corrupted but simply wipes user data and apps.
What am I to do? Am I doomed to have a buggy phone until CWM or TWRP support LG G2 so I can install a ROM?
Or is there something I can do to fix this?
Thanks in advance!
If you still have root, you can use this, AutoRec - KitKat Recovery Installer
http://forum.xda-developers.com /showthread.php?t=2715496
If you do not have root it would be best to start fresh by following this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45694605
Then use IORoot to root your phone, thread below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48709232
After rooting use AutoRec-Kit Kat Recovery Installer and you will be good to go.
Hope all this helps.
