And BTW, there is no issue with SD Card and 4.4. Read up on it and you'll understand how it works.
any one can help to work, it is not working. for exemple whennusing astro ican't copy or move file from internal to sd card, and i use aqua camera pro it can't save in sd , and other camera app

Maybe out of topic, then Sorry, but who have 4.4 can move the Apps to SD?
for me ES is not working on 4.4 but file commander that come with stock is working!!
Stock file managers are the only ones that work on kit kat for external sd cards, This applies to any phone running kit kat, only system apps have full acess to the SD card
so in our case file commander is the only file manager that works with the external sd card
System apps are also the only ones that can copy/move/create/delete or download stuff on the external sd card, unless they have their own private folder AND if you delete the app then all files in said private folder go out with it too

im using total commander and i have full access to my sd-card.
that said:
i love total commander because of it's two pane view mode and those useful plugins. i've used it since windows 95 on my PC, so i was happy to see, that there is an android version of it.
i don't know why it's never mentioned on xda. are there any downsides to it? ive never had any problems with it. it makes moving/copying files so much easier
edit:
here's the link, have a look if you like
Maybe I'm not the only one to come up with this solution but I use es file explorer and adownloader and I could not get them to write to the SD card so I downloaded link2sd and converted both apps to system apps which then fixed both apps write issues. It has worked for me has anyone else tried it?!?

Hey
I just flashed paranoid android last night and for some odd reason I cannot locate none of of my files on my ex SD card. I was told in cm9 they change the pathway to emn or something like that but that's no where to be found? I never formatted a thing when I flashed the from so very weird that its vanished. Under storage I see SD card down below and it says Mount SD card so but you can't click on it or anything so what has happened.
When I tried to do restore with TB it could not find my folder as it was installed on ex SD. Now in storage it shows USB storage right at the bottom and this is where my ex SD should be i imagine but underneath this is says mount SD card!
Any help would be great.
Thanx
I dont know about your issue with TB, but you can find your files using Astro File Manager.
Open Astro, click "Up" and mount emmc insted of SDcard.
Hope it helps.

I used to use astro and I now can see my SD card as u said....do u know if this is just a issue with cm9 as I liked using es exploror...
Is it best to just use astro as es is a root exploror.
Cheers

It's not an issue, CM mounts SD card as emmc only. you can disable root access option in ES and it will then just act as file explorer

iam confused jeetu! lol
i cannot find my external sd card in es exploror, so since CM mounts EX SD as emmc what do i need to do to display this? their is no emmc folder listed. now before i flashed this cm9 rom, ES folder could display my ex sd card fine.
So a root exploror and file exploror are the same then? should i just stick with astro as i can see my ex sd card under emmc.
my issue with this, was when i tried to restore my TB backup, i could not find my files as its backed up on my ex sd card. thats why iam irritated by it, or does that have nothing to do with it! lol

Can you check in setting> storage if you SD is mounted? Root explorer can do everything that a normal file explorer can do, it is just an advanced file explorer with root access. Just having root explorer is enough. Can you find SD in root explorer or some other file manager?
Edit- Got it, go to TB preferences and click "backup folder location" and then hit "detect" It will then detect your backup folder and then click "use current folder", that's it.
Hey
Yes in astro I can find that emmc file and all my files are present. Its just ES I don't see it at all or no option for me to enable it. I'll rather just have one root explorer.
In storage it lists my SD card and below it' it says mount SD' insert a SD card for mounting So I guess its unmounted?
I used backup pro for my apps but I really don't think it worked as well but if it gives me issues. I'll just have to delete apps again and maybe use TB

Yes, if your card is not mounted then obviously it's unmounted , re-insert your card and see if that helps, if not then you may have to format it. I have faced this issue several times after flashing custom roms (specially CM based)
Check this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060230 post #5 in particular

Well, I may be new to this, but if he can see his external sd card and the files in Astro it must be mounted?
Try this...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.qbanin.binder&feature=search_result
go to mnt/emmc
Its there using root explorer.
And you can use icsbinder from playstore to bind it to sdcard/extsdcard
Just check first two options in icsbinder and reboot.

You need to use the built in file manager to do that now, Google hates SD cards so they made so that 3rd party apps can not write or edit anything in the SD card

Hi Guys,
I've got a HTC ONE M8 and just bought a SanDisk 32GB Mobile Ultra class10 microSD, I cant seem to write any files to this or even creat a new folder on the external SD, the phone is recognising the SD and the correct size. Im using ES file explorer but can't create a new folder or even move anything form my internal memory to is.
Any help would be much appreciated.
My device is NOT rooted
Thanks
Unfortunately you'll have to be rooted to be able to write to exdcsrd. This was a change in android 4.4. I have seen rumors that this will be fixed in future updates. Otherwise what I do is plug my phone into my pc and manage my storage that way.

I don't understand this statement. While I am having difficulties with my SDCard, I suspect that a reformat using the phone (after I copy everything off the card to a PC) I can't see it having anything to do with KitKat or what version of Android - Heck, the phone even lists what apps are on the DSD card, I have 4.4.2 on my Note 3, as well as on my Tablet and have no issues writing data to the card, creating folders, creating files, No issues. How could ANDROID 4,4 not allow writes to extsd?
This might help explain - http://www.androidcentral.com/kitkat-sdcard-changes
Because Samsung phones come with a stock file explorer. KitKat blocked 3rd party apps from being able to write to SD card. The only way to do it is your phone comes with a file explorer pre installed. On the m8 you can go to settings > storage > make more space and move things to your sdcard from there but you can't pick which folder.

I have a galaxy s3, and one of my favorite settings is being able to have my pictures and videos automatically save to my 64gb sd card. Is that not possible to set on the m8? I really want to get away from samsung, but i also really like this feature.

The m8 will save pics & videos to sd card. You just can't cut/paste with a third party file explorer. You can delete your pics/videos with stock Gallery app.
Hi all.
The sd card on my s3 lte failed. I managed to copy most of the contents onto my pc but lost all my photos and vids. When I copied the folders onto my new card I found it was 10gb full (16gb card). The main culprit is a file called languages which is 7.58gb.
What is this file?
I thought if it was languages for the phone then it would be on the phone, not the sd card.
Can I just delete it?
My phone seems to work fine without the sd card in...apart from the apps on the card.
Thanks
Matt

by ''new card'' do you mean its never been used untill now? or already used with current device or some other device?
im not sure but, if you had used this ''new card'' already, it could be that these languages belong to an app you used or are still using, for example like maybe a keyboard app (storing languages/predictions/data history) or navigation app. anyway if you say that the phone seems to work fine without it and your apps also then there should be no issues deleting this languages file. probably left on the card from an app that you dont use anymore..
Hi,
I installed Paranoid Android 4.5 Beta 4 on my xperia z. I got a problem with moving photos of my DCIM Folder from my intertal storage to an other folder oft my external storage (SD card). I already fixed the SD card permission, so I am able to create folders and files on the SD card. The only problem is, that I'm not able to MOVE or COPY them.
I use ES File Explorer my favorite explorer. I am also able to DELETE files from the internal DCIM folder.
Thanks in advance for your help

I tried that. At first the problem still occured. Then I saw, that ES File Explorer showed the message, that it is unable to copy the picture "IMG20140910_0815:nopm:.jpg.
I was confused why some pictures of the DCIM folder have an :nopm: in the name, so I tried to move all other pictures insted of the nopm ones to the external sd card.... worked. The next step I did is to rename the nopm pictures to delete the :nopm: tag out of the name. After that, I was also allowed to move this pictures to the external card. Problem solved.
Another little question: Do you know if it's possible to create a link from the internal DCIM folder to the external one? The google camera app dont have an option to choose where the pictures should be saved, so this link would be a workaround solution.
Thanks for your help

Try this it has resolved most peoples issues
I already installed this app to fix my sd card permission. In other threads I found that it is not possible to create links to the sd card because of its fat format.
So I think the thread is solved, because it now works to move pictures from internal to external DCIM folder.
Thanks so much for your help androidtweaker1
