Avia can pull from Dropbox
AllCast can pull from both Dropbox and Google Drive
RealPlayer Cloud can pull from their cloud
If Google was going to do this, they would have already - because they didn't need to wait for the SDK release - they could make any Chromecast app they wanted to whenever they wanted to.
They could just do a straight dump/retrieve from Drive to Chromecast, but without a player app that can handle that file type, Chromecast will just get the file and not know what to do with it, just like having your browser download a file that your computer/phone doesn't have an app to open.
The trick is in the player app, and Google for the most part leaves it to the app developers to develop.
The business aspect is that if Google starts developing lots of apps for Chromecast, developers may shy away from Chromecast development in fear that Google will do what their (paid) app is doing for free.

I'm guessing you must use avia, all cast or real player ,
Could I ask which one do you prefer the most ?
How much online storage in GB do real player offer?? Edit 2GB!!!!! Is that it????

You can get an additional 3GB (I think) from Real by completing a few tasks (just like Dropbox).
But I don't put my media online, it's all local. Still working out how to handle it, to be honest.
There's definitely lots of room in the Chromecast space.

Ok, so we all know how Google music currently only uploads from your PC, and I'm sure we all hate the fact that when we download new music to our tablet or phone from some other source (like Amazon or MP3Downloader) it doesn't upload to GM.
I know the work arounds like Drop Box and setting GM to search the USB Drive connection of your device for new music, but both require either the PC being on and awake 24/7 or the phone being connected to the PC. I think that defeats the purpose of GM's sync design.
So here's my Idea: (Mind you I don't have the know-how to even begin this, so if it's impossible forgive me. )
Couldn't one of the amazing DEV's on XDA decompile the Google Music Uploader program that runs on the PC and take what's needed from that (such as the upload urls or commands or whatever) and use it to create an Android App that will do the same? Then you could have a standalone app that monitors your /music folder and uploads new files to your GM account. Similar to the way G+ uploads new pics.
Again I have no idea how or if this could work but I thought it was worth mentioning... Any takers?

What's in this version:

I think we need more links also megashare does not work for me either
works like a charm, even with non-stock LCD density there is no "not compatible application" sign.

€dit: Got a hot reboot and got into bootloop? 0o Had to hard reset, re-flashing system had no effect.. (no bad blocks)

Hey guys, I wanted to see who all here has picked up a chrome cast and what your thoughts are on it so far?
I really dig it, quick connection and ability to play things with no noticeable degradation or lag. And with HBO Go and Hulu Plus both coming soon it is going to be really nice.
One issue though that I have found is that the previous version of Google Play Movies allowed you to play locally stored videos on your device through the app. With the update to work with Chromecast this option is removed even when trying to do it on your device only so you have to use an external app such as the gallery or MX player etc.
Any word or people working on creating a cracked version of google movies or a work around to allow other apps to chromecast?

Koush has wrote a chromecast app just for that actually but due to he developer agreement with chromecast he cannot release the apk.

That is pretty slick and works for home made videos (although obviously he isn't releasing it at the moment) but as is it also wouldn't solve the problem of being able to fling other movies you have to the TV.
IE I own a digital copy of Ironman and have it on my tablet, before the google movie app would play it internally. With the update to enable chromecast it no longer shows up to even be played on the phone through the app, let alone fling it to the TV.
Just as the title says. I want to know if there is anyway to cast a PowerPoint or PDF directly from my Note 3. I know I can do it from my laptop via Google Drive but I want to be able to just need the Chromecast and my phone to run presentations for a classes.
I have looked around and have not seen and solution to do this from the phone.

Not at the moment as far as I know. Would be a piece of cake if we had Android screen mirroring, but we don't yet.
If you export the PPT or PDF as still images, you can cast those stills from Avia, though you should be mindful of scaling and aspect ratio.
Sounds like it'd be a good app idea though!

For some reason when you do a search for Chromecast in the Play Store it lists Quickoffice among the Apps.
I checked and can find no CCast support in it at all...
Just mentioning that for anyone who might try it thinking it does support CCast...it Doesn't!

LOL! Yeah, a number of false hits for Chromecast searches in Google Play right now... I'm hoping they enhance the on-device Chromecast category or apply some kind of filter qualification so it's easier to determine what third-party apps support Chromecast..

Various PC's
I have messed with Google Music and something about the interface doesn't do it for me.
MyMusicCloud is limited to 250 songs and other cloud services like Skydrive don't offer streaming services but just storage.
The idea is to stream, not really download to play, ideas and suggestions would be appreciated.

I used subsonic server for over a year. Works insanely well if you are willing to run a server from your PC. they're are raspberry pi solutions as well. Also, some use Plex, instead. Both are great options. As for cloud services, you can pretty much do Google music or amazon. Google gives you 20k songs free. Amazon gives you an unprecedented 250k songs for $25 a year.

Just a heads up that if you are not into the Google Music app, you can now use third party software as the interface, but still use Google Music for its free storage capacity. I saw the article somewhere on this site, I will take a look for it.

I used Subsonic for a while too, seemed to work well. As mentioned, you need an always on computer if you want access whenever. I remember it being a little tedious to set up. Subsonic also lets you stream video files, pretty neat, worked alright. I stopped using it when I discovered that my home Comcast internet usage was over the 200GB limit one month, but I can't verify it was Subsonic or something else on my network... I'm tempted to try Subsonic again, seems silly to upload my music to Google's server when I could just stream from home, provided your upload is fast enough and you have a static IP or DDNS.
I've had good luck with Cloudaround. The free version lets you stream from dropbox, and the paid version uses Box, GoogleDrive, Skydrive and others, as well as your local files.
I have used Amazon MP3 with good luck

I guess one of my large pet peeves with Google Music is its inability to sync music to a folder, unless I am not seeing it.
When i use there music manager software and direct it a folder path it just copies everything over, if a file is deleted or renamed it does nothing, its not truly a sync piece of software, any work arounds ?
