My internal SD card is running out of space, DiskUsage shows me that "SystemData" takes up about 4GB. Cache partition and dalvik cache cleaned.
I think its logcats and dumstats. On other phones you could dial "*#9900#" to get to a menu where you could delete dumstats and logcats.
On 4.3. stock fw its not working.
Anyone got an idea how to clean logcats/dumstats?
I dont think that these are all error files. What you can do is reflash ROM without data wipe..
any idea to clear dumstate for xperia sp?
If you're rooted, just check /data/media folder. It should have the three folders: 0, legacy, obb. (/sdcard mounted at 0). If you have lot of items like in sdcard, it might be taking extra space and showing as "SystemData".
Same thing happened to me, and I deleted everything except those three folders (don't touch 0, it will delete things in actual /sdcard). Those duplicate items might have come there after a cwm data restore.. but, not sure about that.
If this is the case with you, please take precautions before deleting anything.

I've gone back to stock with odin, things look normal, but when i root and flash back to a rom [cognition] i am unable to add few, if any apps. manage applications has any apps in this "computing" mode that never changes
when i try to wipe Dalvic cache, it appears to wipe, but "E: can't/ mount/ dev/ block/ mmcblk1p2 (file exists)" Does that mean i'm not really wiping dalvic ?
I've also wiped partition cache, formated system, data and cache, should i format sdcard?
I have several apps in TiBu, can i copy that folder back to the sd card if i format the sd card?
I've also also wiped data/factory reset ed from both CW recovery as well as in android.
This question has come up in other areas but with either no answers or to delete cache from market, which of i cannot do when it's 'computing'
Any thoughts or assistance will be appreciated

I'd imagine that you already found a solution to your issue, being that it was posted a while ago. I wanted to post what worked for me, with the same issue. Look in your SD card for a folder called .android_secure. There you will find all your downloaded apps, delete all the apps with a -2 in the extention. They are duplicate apps that have been stored. Once I deleted all thos it worked for me!
I have read threads and followed instructions of how to get s2e done on my CM7.1 nexus one.
I just wanna confirm if I did the whole thing right
I partitioned my SD card with a 1024 ext3 and swap size 0
After istalling the S2E, mount as ext4 I got 138 Mb internal memory free (should be fine)
I moved Applications and Dalvik Cache to sd-ext but not application data.
I found the internal memory still decreases over the time and now "Applications" field grays out and I wont be able to move the applications back to the phone as before. (why ?? - I can move around the "Applications", "Dalvik Cache", "Download cache" and "Private apps" between the phone and sd-ext by selecting and reboot)
Am I doing the whole thing right actually ?
I believe once you have enough apps on the ext partition that it won't fit back in the internal memory, that the option stays grayed out. Otherwise, if you attempted to move it back, it wouldn't fit and would just cause issues.
I got this work now
but I got a new problem as I just bought a new sd card
and I have to figure out how to move all those to work on the new card
I did an nandroid backup and backup in my pc
I put in the new sdcard into my phone and partition it via CW
It's fine.
Then I switch off my phone and put everything else into the new card
Done.
Nandroid advanced restore sd ext
When my screen on, I lost android market and all Google add-on
what happen = =
I saw my apps on my screen with a wrong icon
I can not download the Titanium or the S2E and I got no market in the phone
Am i following the right steps ?
Whenever I have swapped sdcards, I have always used Titanium Backup to backup all the apps then I move the folder to the new card, and then I restore all the apps.
You may want to try and wipe the phone's /system partition (only the /system, otherwise you can lose all your data) and reinstall CM and gapps. Then once you install S2E from the market and reboot, all your apps should show up (assuming you don't mess with the ext partition).
rooted, stock lollipop 5.0.2, problem started out of nowhere this afternoon...
camera won't let me take photos as it asks for an SD card. even after i insert an SD card, the error persists.
opening quickpic gives me the following errors...
Code:
not an error (code 0) could not open the database in read / write mode
Code:
unable to open database file (code 14)
can't delete ANY files manually in ES file explorer even with root explorer enabled.
booted into TWRP and cleared cache and dalvik to no avail.
seems like the phone can't read or write any data, except installing/uninstalling apps via google play still works. seems to be the same problem addressed in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/read-write-errors-advice-solved-t2323801 although i don't know how to identify the corrupt file(s) and delete them or fix permissions...
help!!
...bump?
basically wen that happens is because a file or folder is corrupted, it maybe in any place on your phone really difficult to find. That usually happens after you flash some (app, script), restore a TWRP backup, or a app that have root access doing the wrong thing.
i had this problem two times.
In the 1°, i fix by going in the TWRP, and erased my internal memory, after reboot all good.
this case was very simple i copy every file to pc, erase, after restore the one i need, and everything was fine...
In the 2°, i try that and was not successful, i need to re install the stock rom via fastboot from xml rom file to completed clean my OS.
In both cases, i was not able to make a Titaniumbackup, so i lost some data of a fill apps in the second (because i make a backup every week, if i didn't have it i probably lost everything).
If you don't use titanium, and don't wanna to loose things and app files etc, you can try copy everything on internal and external memory, by plugin on the device to a PC, after a TWRP backup of yours data, after wipe, dalvik cache, data, internal storage, cache, system, re flash the same rom you are now, and after test and see if you can write, restore the data backup.
But that data may corrupted your phone again, because the problem maybe in that.
So if after restore the data all goes bad, redo everything and do not restore data, you will lose app and data, but app can be reinstated.
:good:

thank you, i used this as an opportunity to wipe and flash cyanogen. so far so good (seems much smoother too).
OK other phone I had has external SD card. When I wiped data it wiped internal SD completely. Since turbo has no external SD, will it wipe completely or just Android file data and preserve other files on internal SD. If it does wipe internal SD completely how would you flash ROM? Thanks for any advice.

That depends on what kind of wipe you do. If you do a factory reset in TWRP, it will not wipe your user data (downloads, music, everything else in /data/media/0 or /sdcard). However, if you select Format Data, or you pick Internal Storage in the advanced wipe menu, all of your user data will be wiped. Usually, a factory reset is all you need after flashing roms, so you don't have to worry about losing photos/music/etc.
Great thanks for the fast reply. OK other phone was sgs3. Sometimes when flashing and then running new ROM it seemed the settings stayed the same as previous ROM. Devs would have you format data for clean install. How would that work on this droid turbo?
I also wiped data and it wiped my internal storage. I thought maybe I had wiped internal storage accidentally or did something else wrong but this leads me to believe I didn't do anything wrong. Back to the previous version that worked for us? (I think it was 2.8.7)
Edit: I just read that choosing to format data will also format internal storage, but a factory reset which "wipes data" does not touch the internal storage. This is a little confusing if you aren't familiar with how everything is partitioned. Is internal storage actually on the data partition?

If I have the ROM and gapps on internal SD and format data I loose ROM and gapps right? Then how would you install ROM? Second if I delete Android file on internal SD would that make it a clean install? But other files would still remain. Just trying to understand so I don't brick or can't get ROM on. Thanks

Yes, the internal storage is on the data partition. When you do a factory reset with TWRP and you read the script as it executes, it says something like "wiping /data without wiping /data/media." Doing the factory reset wipes everything on /data except /data/media, which is where your user data lives. So what gets wiped is all of the user apps and the data generated by the system apps, but your user data is preserved.
It makes sense that wiping data would wipe everything. I think having separate boxes for data and internal storage is to account for someone who might install an older version of android that is partitioned differently. I can't remember when the change happened, but at one point, the user data and app data were kept on separate partitions. I think that user data lived on /sdcard and apps lived on /data. That's why you see the /sdcard folder as a symlink when you go exploring with a root browser. It's symlinked to /data/media/0 to maintain backwards compatibility with older apps that are expecting /sdcard to exist.
Thanks st33v. My last phone had a /sdcard partition separate from /data so I think that is where the misperception came from. It also had /sdcard2, which was an actual SD card.

Yep my thinking too. You guys are great! Cleared it up.
If you wipe all your files simply use twrp and connect it to the PC. You can drag the files over for flashing.

Awesome I was wondering if you could do that...
I'm panicking very much right now.
I did a big, big stupid and accidentally wiped my entire /data partition, including /sdcard (!!) in TWRP 3.0.4.1 while attempting to change the filesystem of my /data partition from F2FS to EXT4. I did a full backup of my phone, including /data partition (but excluding /data/media/0/ which is the location for /sdcard of course) on my phone prior to attempting to change the filesystem.
I didn't think that this would also wipe /sdcard, and ALL MY FILES INCLUDING MY BACKUP...
I'm frantically searching through Google as we speak for guides to clone these formatted sectors over USB (I'd imagine using ADB shell) to a PC and use Windows file or partition recovery tools to try and save every, if not most files.
Please lend me your knowledge and links to fixing this issue, Android community. <3
In older Android versions the /sdcard partition was it's own partition, which is why I didn't think of copying all my files over to a PC before making changes to /data.
well, when you wipe data from any partition in twrp it sort of resets all space to be overwritten. The data that is marked for overwrite doesn't remain when you full wipe. Since you changed the file system, the data was removed and overwritten by the wipe with blank space.... i hope you had at least some of it backed up on your pc. I never use those apps personally, i always hard backup all my things with a drag and drop onto my pc. I highly recommend it, saves you a disaster. Im very sorry.... i hope you didnt lose anything really important.

Heh, that's exactly what happened. I'm gonna attempt this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...de-internal-memory-data-recovery-yes-t1994705
Basically try to use "dd" to make a RAW copy of "dev/block/dm-0" which according to the mount command I ran in TWRP's terminal shell, is what block /data is used on OnePlus 3T (OOS 4.1.3).
Wish me luck.
