[Q] notification LED blink randomly! - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just received a refurbished unit from vodafone since they couldnt repair my original htc one with pink camera issues...
i received the phone and i immediately updated the phone to kitkat which was made available whilst i had my phone in repair!
anyway whenever i turn the screen on the green LED notification light blinks really fast for a few seconds. it will then come back and blink very fast after a while
also i cant remember but does it normally blink in a phone call?
im not sure if this is a software problem or a problem with the refurbished unit.
i have factory reset twice
sorry for all the questions
thanks
Alex

[Q] No blinking LED for new text messages?

I have noticed that the HD7 LED indicator does not blink for new text messages. It is really bothering me because I have to turn on the phone every couple minutes to check for new messages. It blinks for missed calls and lights up when charging so I know its working. Is this a defect with the phone?

It's not a defect as you say, it simply isn't written to blink for a new SMS. If enough people complain about it, they could update the software to blink on new text messages, or at least give the user the choice to use that option.

[Q] HTC One (m7) Green LED not working

I currently have a stock HTC One in Canada on the Telus network.
The last few weeks i noticed the LED light growing dim. About a week ago the phone rebooted itself only to say it had an issue and that it was not shutdown correctly.. and asked if i wanted to report the problem to HTC.
The phone the froze with the Screen on but a black background.
After 15 minutes i powered off the phone.
At this point the phone would not power back on.. when i plugged the power in to the phone from the wall the phone would not indicate that it was charging via LED.
I tried booting no response.. no vibrating,.. just slight flashing lights on the Home/back buttons
I ended up booting up the phone by shining a bright light into the light sensor while holding Power and DOWN volume..
Phone has been working fine ever since, however still no LED.
I did a factory reset and still no LED.
Has anyone see anything like this?
I want to root and install Google Edition Android however if the hardware is faulty i dont want to risk voiding the warranty and being stuck with a faulty phone.

This has happened to me too. Just one day noticed no led light anymore. Strange thing to break down on a phone! Have you had any joy in getting a fix?

Unfortunately I have not been successful getting the LED back.. I am debating sending the phone in for Warranty work... or just sucking it up and rooting/flashing custom roms.
My main concern is that there may be a bigger hardware issue going on internally.
I'm really just trying to get a feel of how common this issue is..

Try this: in dialer type *#*#3424#*#* (3424 = DIAG), that will bring up HTC internal diagnostic, there's a "LED Test", select and run it to see if it's a hardware defect or not (you will get Orange and Green LED tests).

Thanks for the info.. Just tried it the LED test .
To my surprise the Green and Orange lights actually show up but I have to hold it to my eye and block out any external light to see anything.. kind of defeats the purpose of an LED notification light..
I guess the light works its just extremely DIM.
Any way of controlling the LED light brightness?

Don't know, but I just ran the same test in a very well lit environment and the Green and Orange LED are quite bright... I don't have to "go look for them" they pop out nicely.
Are you using a cover of any kind? Or maybe the LED has somehow shifted it's position and is being partially covered by the speaker grill? Hate to say it, but sounds like a hardware issue. Sorry
Hope someone else has other ideas.

Not using any case that would cover the LED.. that being said even with the Case off.. the LED is still very dim.

Shouldn't affect it. I've been using ARHD 9 through 13.3 and works with all of them.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I've ran the LED test, and all of them work. But they dont light up for notifications, and i have it enabled in the settings.

I have the same problem. Did factory reset two times. Red when charging, green when full but no flashing green for notification. I enabled it in settings.
Have you manage to find a solution for the problem?
Thanks.

I also have the same problem: when it is charging and when it is fully charged the light works OK but doesn't flash for notifications. But it worked OK some time ago. Actually, when I think about it, it seems that the problem started after I had updated to the current firmware: Android version 4.3, HTC Sense version 5.5, software number 3.62.401.1
It must be issue with firmware/software because LED test works fine.
There's another thread similar to this one and someone there figured out the solution - you do a factory reset but, when the phone reboots, you do not restore everything using your Google account. Go through the setup as normal (without restoring) and once that is complete then you can add your Google account details.
It means you have to download and set up your apps again, but it is worth it to get the LED working.
HI I had a similar problem I cleaned out the hole with a needle and all is well, pin came out dirty (the one on the grill dirt was blocking led )

Working for me. Could be hardware problem. Get it checked by HTC.
notification lights work perfectly when i am not charging the phone at the same time...
however, when i charge the phone via usb, the notification stay lit the whole time as battery charging indication...
kinda wishes that the notification light would blink when new sms come in while charging...
If it is hardware issue, then why charging light is on while on charge and green when it charged? which is working perfect...
Same problem
Hi, i am having the same problem here. I believed i am using the LTE version of the HTC Butterfly S 901S Variant. I updated my phone to 4.3 and Sense 5.5 a few days ago and since then, my phone stopped receiving green LED notification for messages, missed call and other events. Before the update, my LED light was working normally. However, when i plug in my phone to a charger, the solid orange coloured LED lights up. It works fine when charging and my LED notification flashes when my battery is below 10 % (which is normal) . However, it just refuse to show any LED light when there is incoming notification. Anyone know what's the problem? Software issue? My phone's bootloader is still locked and i did not root my phone. Is anyone else having this issue?

[Q] Screen Replacement Leads to Unbootable Phone

So I recently cracked the screen on my HTC One m7. I bought a replacement screen and front housing. The screen was so far beyond repair that I couldn't shut off the phone prior to starting the replacement. I tried waiting for the phone to die but after two days I became impatient and did it anyway (essentially the phone lost power when I disconnected the battery). After transferring all parts into the new housing and being what I though as diligent putting all parts and connections back in their place, tried to power the phone back on. all that happens is that the back and home buttons flash and then I hear what sounds like the audio for when the phone powers on. The screen stays black and then phone doesn't technically turn on. I know this because I have missed messages and the green led light would be flashing if it was. Therefore, at this point I'm not certain that the new screen works or if I've connected it right. I've tried the numerous boot tricks with the volume buttons, nadda. I have had the phone on a charger for a full day and the same problems. (Disclaimer: I don't have the original charger, but I have been using this one for a long time). I do see the red charging led if I wiggle the charger in the input, but also just recently I saw a green led when doing this, which when the phone was working was a sign that it was fully charged. If anyone has a solution to my problem that would be great. I'm also interested on what's wrong, why this is happening, what might have caused this behavior? What do the flashing home and back buttons mean?
Howdy,
I've had the same problem, but my phone was shutdown allready. When I replaced the front screen, the phone won't boot. I would like to know if its anyway to get the files from sdcard down?
Thanks for the support!

[Q] Power Off LED Color

Hi everyone!
My Sony Xperia SP died the last month and today I'm going to change the motherboard.
My question come when the seller say that the LED is in red(solid, without blink) when it is conected to the power.
And my question is: Is that the motherboard is OK or have any problems? I know that the blinking red LED is some fail, but solid without blink I dont know(I think its OK), but here I think you people know my answer.
Thanks a lot!
