I flashed my phone successfully over to MetroPCS, but MMS and the marketplace is not working. Data works however. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Wow my first post!!!!
Damage Control V1.0 or v1.1 (which is based off of the Eris) wil get you there. Sadly, this rom is no longer being updated, so us MetroPCS Hero users are stuck. I have tried all the latest roms, but MMS will not work. I am even willing to try an Eris rom, but I have not seen any thread that mentions if it's possible or not.
Good Luck.
Hey, if your ROM supports phone codes, you'll have to configure MMS using DATA (3282) which should be entered into the phone keypad as one of these
##3282 <dial>
##3282#
##3282# <dial>
from there, the MMS server is listed. Flashing to a different ROM will reset this.
Check out this thread for MetroPCS provisioning..

Edit: Are you using a custom ROM, or is it stock? If the unit is rooted and on a custom ROM, I know that Fresh ROM does support these codes (and is just a great ROM in general). For future reference, d-shade included in his ROM thread, a program called "APN Backup & Restore" to backup MMS settings and restore them in a different ROM.
Thanks for your response.
The unit is rooted and on custom rom. I personnally have tried all of the latest ASOP and Sprint based roms available. I have used APN Backup & Restore to copy and restore my settings from Damage Control v1.1 rom. No Luck. I have tried changing the DATA settings. No Luck. SMS works, but MMS does not. From what I understand, Sprint based roms do not have the messaging structure that MetroPCS uses. Verizon does, and that is why Damage Control v1.1 (Eris based) works. Voicemail is also an issue with Sprint based roms for us MetroPCS users.
If someone has have success with a Sprint based rom with MetroPCS, please share.
In the HTC messaging app, under settings will be "Connection Settings" which will show the MMSC, but not allow you to change it. I have never gotten MMS to work using AOSP/stock Android messaging.
By entering basic provisioning (DATA/3282), EPST should let you edit all settings. Let me know if the dialer doesn't open EPST. When EPST opens and you enter your MSL for edit mode, the MMSC is listed under "Advanced". Once you change the MMSC and go to Menu>Commit Modifications, it will tell you "No changes made" unless you change another settings (I just change the SCI to something different) I was able to edit it on the Fresh ROM I posted earlier, and my carrier uses Verizon's method for messaging.
For the voicemail issue, refer to this post. Voicemail is usually the only issue I have flashing Sprint ROMs.
Thanks again.
Believe it or not, I have tried everything you suggested already. Despite that, I did try the rom you suggested again and double checked all my settings. I don't know what is different about the Eris rom, but Damage Control v1.0 or v1.1 is the only rom that is fully working for MetroPCS Hero users right now. This rom is great, but my only fault is that it is no longer being upgraded, and I cannot find an ESPRESSO lockscreen that prevents the menu button from unlocking the phone. I am not a big fan of the vanilla or other lockscreens.
Thanks.
Not sure what to tell you at this point, but I'm positive there isn't anything you could be doing wrong. I'll go ahead and try a Damage Control ROM and see what happens, since it is Eris-based. And I honestly don't blame you at all about your lockscreen preference. Thanks for your feedback, though. Are MMS and voicemail the only problems you're having when using a different ROM?
Yes. MMS and Voicemail are the only problems that I am having with other roms. Depending on the Rom, voicemail works if I flash the PHONE.zip file, but I still get the annoying voicemail connection message . With AOSP roms, the voicemail works perfectly. MMS does not work with either.
Since VM is a known issue, I'll just say to focus on MMS for now - is the MMS server in the thread I pointed out earlier the most recent one (that you're using on Danger ROMs)?

Yes it is.
For the record, this is the thread that I am following.

As I said before, I'm not on MetroPCS right now, so I have no way of testing any of their proxy information. There is only one other thread I've noticed so far, in the Eris forums.

Folks
Samsung I9000
Firmware 2.3.3
Kernel 2.6.35.7-i9000XXJVK
When I first got this phone I could save the network APN.
However I find today that the APN has been removed and every time I try
to save it , it just does not save.
The phone has recently been rooted but I am sure the APN stopped working
before then, but I could be wrong.
Any sugestions.
Matt
Sounds pretty odd. Try factory settings restore.
I use this to backup APNs
Dont woory ...!
Just use DarkyOta u can download it from market .
And under tab backup/restore user data u can save your network APN...!
And much more...!
do we need to keep a backup of APN ?? I don't have it as yet.
What is even more off , is that this morning checked the phone at the APN
had come back in , all on its own.
Very odd , no real idea what is causing this.
Will certainly try and back up of the APN and see if this makes any difference
I'm having a similar problem with my rooted HTC Sensation XE with Energy ROM.
Version: 2.3.5
Kernel: 2.6.35.13-gc35910f
ROM: Energy
After rooting, my APN will disappear every time I restart. I've flashed different ROMs and factory reset, etc but still the problem persists. I've figured out that when I reset, the MCC and MNC values in the 'telephony.db' file change from 505 and 02 (which are my carrier settings) to *505 and *02. Where does this astrix come from and how to I get it to stop being added on restart?
Hi,
I have a Motorola Droid 4 and I am in France (so I need GSM to work... I am not so familiar with the different types of networks).
I have installed a recovery system (SafeStrap I think) and I installed Cyanogen mod 10.1.3 (the latest stable release) from here.
My issue is that I am not able to set the SMSC on the phone (and therefore, I can't send SMS). I use *#*#4636#*#* => Phone Settings. I set the SMSC (I tried many formats, the PDU is then translated correctly into a number) but when I press back and go back immediately into Phone Settings, the SMSC is blank again...
I tried many things (reinstalling CM, rebooting, etc...) but I can't save the SMSC...
I tried installing a patch to make it fully compatible to GSM networks but it doesn't seem to help at all... (sorry I can't give you the link of the patch as I am a new user)
I really don't know what else to do right now (except buying another phone...)
Thank you !
Edit : I fixed the issue... I have no idea how, the SMSC field is still empty, but... It works !
Hi, I have a captivate and I flashed the CyanogenMod 10.2 stable version on it. so far everything is working great, however when i try to set up a new apn for lycamobile in USA i click save and it just goes back to the menu as if i had not done anything and no apn is saved. Does anyone know how to save the APN settings?

I'm not 100% sure but it does sound like a bug with the ROM. I suggest reporting it in their thread.
I have a Sprint One M8 Harmon Kardon edition. I'm running a recent CM 12.1 build (updating doesn't help). I have no mobile data at all. I can't even enable it, the switch is grayed out in settings. I've tried restoring to the latest stock OS, wiping, reflashing CyanogenMod, flashing the RUU, running a firmware update, etc. I feel like I've tried everything, I really want to keep CM on my phone. Some have suggested to me that this my be an APN setting issue, but as this is a CDMA model the menu is not present to edit these settings. Does anyone know what my issue is or how I can check my APN settings?
Thanks.
EDIT: It appears they fixed the toggle issue in the May 17 nightly, still no data. Must be an APN issue, no idea how to get to those settings.
EDIT 2: Added APN settings shortcut via Nova Launcher, not sure why that is hidden. But I added the APN settings for ispsn and cinet.spcs (for MMS/LTE). 3G and MMS now function, not sure about LTE, can't test that right now. It should work fine. Consider this solved!
