high quality Micro USB cables - G2 Accessories

i just puted them into 2 list
one in amazon, and second in Ebay
http://www.ebay.com/cln/maorparizat/Cables/86720451011
http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/HUO3U4Q7LVSB/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_o?
some of them is 28/20 ands other 28/24
some of them is heavy shilded, or with Gold-Plated Connectors
and there is one with Ferrite Core even
the heavy cables is the best one
arctic mini usb cable + adapter & Mediabridge USB 2.0 for example
all other cables are good too :highfive:

Most of those specs are nice in theory, but not that special to a general user.
- Gold plating is usually only beneficial for analog signals since oxidation can degrade signal quality. Signal quality is of disposable concern in digital cables; It either works or it doesn't. Also gold plating is softer and can wear more quickly if plugged in/out often.
- Ferrite cores are nice for environments with heavy interference, yet that would have to be some environment you're working in to need this.
In professional, critical applications I could see some use for these, but not for home users.
Heavy cables, now that's something I could see as useful. Daily use, bending, stretching; they take their toll on a cable.

I don't consider my self as normal user

It depends on what you want to use it for tbh, if you are using it to an external DAC then you could look at some from Audioquest Micro USB Cables or Vertere DFi USB as they do a range of OTG cables too!

Good Solid Usb Cables?

This may sound silly, but can anyone recommend a good quality USB cable for charging the note?
Back when I had my Motorola Photon, the usb cables I had all ended up crapping out because the connector that plugged into the phone would bend or something causing it not to fit snugly in the usb port. I would have to put something on the connector when the phone was changing so that the pins would stay in contact.
Then I invested in a bunch of these cables: amazon.com/AmazonBasics-USB-Cable-Micro-Meters/dp/B003ES5ZSW
It's a surprisingly good cable and the connectors are solid so they always stay snug when you plug it in.
Now that I have my Note though, these cables are no good for charging anymore. For some reason, they can't carry 2amps to the phone; I'm not sure if it's the length or the gauge of the wire that's the problem, but my phone charges unusually slow when I use one of those cables in the stock usb charger.
So, I'm looking for a tough usb cable that can carry 2amps and has solid connectors like the Amazon cables. The one that came with the phone is alright, but it's not as thick as the Amazon cable so it doesn't feel as tough.
Thanks!

This a good quality USB cable: http://dx.com/p/usb-male-to-micro-usb-male-charging-data-cable-for-htc-120cm-109774?item=32
Quite proffessional & robust aspect , microUSB fits tightly and firmly, connection is actually stable even with very used devices with worn connector. Works where others fail .The length is perfect for charging and working with the computer.
I like to buy the older OEM cables that came with the S1 and S2 on amazon for like 3 bucks with prime. I Suppose they aren't the most rugged, but at like 3 bucks (or less) who cares? I buy a bunch of them so I can have them all over the place, and I have spares. They charge my note2 just fine... though I haven't really tested any comparison charging really.

That looks like the HTC cable I've got which i hated because it has memory and the connection between the head and the rest of the wire looked flimsy, but this one could be different.
Personally, I think the cable that came with the Nexus 7 is pretty robust, but the best one I've ever used is the one that came with my Nokia N900 (the long one, not the icky little short one, although both share the same build quality).
point is the USB 3.0... in short I guess you won't find cable for Note 2 what knows the 2A. Your best choice it is if you buy an USB 3.0 extender (you know the connector is colored to blue inside = 3.0) for the orig Samsung cable

That makes no sense. For charging it doesn't matter what micro usb cable you use. I'v been using the cable that came with my original Droid, it works just fine. Also pretty sure the Note 2 isn't usb 3 capable.
The are ruggedized cables inn Amazon but the cable is more rugged not the connector. If you are worried about repetitive connecting killing the cable then get a dock. I use the genetic dock I had for my GS3 and the note 2 actually fits better on it than the gs3 ever did. I'll find the product link for both on Amazon.

You might also take a look www.monoprice.com . I've purchased several micro usb cables from them (from 3 ft to 6 ft in length); good quality, lasts a long time. Lifetime warranty. They're made with heavy gauge wire, making for a thick cable, so it won't be a flexible as some others, though.
I only charge my phone at work using my monitors USB jack, i use one of these Nokia USB cables - http://www.all4phone.com/data/gfx/pictures/large/5/1/15_4.jpg
It charges it fine for my daily use while in work, though obviously not 2A.
It's been in use 5 days a week for over 2 years and has never bent or broke.
I don't know how people come to break Micro USB cable ends, I've never broke one ever!

I've struggled with a variety of the longer, non-OEM micro USB cables - the Amazon Basics you mentioned, cables from Monoprice, etc. I had problems with all of them, either not providing enough current, or just flaking out within a short time. At one point I thought my phone had a problem with the micro USB jack (it didn't). Then one day I found a great cable on Amazon:
Search Amazon "Mediabridge - USB 2.0 A-Male to Micro-B Cable (6 Feet)"
I've been using this cable for several years now, and it has proven to be very durable (I've run over it with my office chair a number of times), and has always provided the full current of the charger I am using with no issues at all. I purchased another one recently to use in another location, and the quality is the same. I've been using these cables with all of my phones, and currently with the Note II.
First post! I felt this suggestion was important enough to un-lurk after 4 years
The "new" samsung stock cable seems very nice. my favorite is still the kindle cable. good quality long and charges EVERYTHING.
that DX cable also loos very nice I may have to order a couple of those.

That's what I meant, the jacket on the wires is thick and makes the cable feel tough, but I have no idea what the gauge of the wire is.

Most micro USB 2.0 cables have 28 AWG for data and 28 AWG and 24 AWG for the two power lead cables; if one were to use regular 16AWG lamp cord to act as power lead current shunts; to help enable the micro USB 2.0 cables to carry enough current; to be able to pass up to 2.0A for the hi current carrying charger adapter for a typical Samsung Tablet 2.0 A charger application; when ones Samsung tablet battery has been fully depleted; perhaps this can be confirmed and/or verified using an USB based Power Monitor that measures both voltage and current and the also displays them both to easily see the voltage and current real time values; as the Samsung tablet battery is being recharged?
I just bought a bunch of the OEM Samsung Note 2 chargers off Amazon. The charger is rated at 2 amps so I'd assume the cable is, too. Although I've never tried to monitor how much current the phone is getting while charging. Seems to charge faster on the OEM 2 amp charger than on all my other crappier chargers.
In my experience the cheap cables and chargers from DX aren't good. They were fine on my old WinMo phone but anything up to and including my old first gen Galaxy doesn't deal well with the cheap cables.

Oem chargers are only available from samsung, official samsung online store or authorised dealer with the official samsung box, or through samsung service center without the box, other places are just A+ quality chargers from china that looks identical.
As long as it's a good quality cable, it should give you the acceptable charge rate, the note 2 does not charge the full 2A current.

Well they came in Samsung packaging and I can't tell the difference. They were like $20 a peice instead of the usual $5 or so for cheap chargers so i hope they're OEM.

I presume they are oem, trust me a A+ quality one from china looks identical, i needed another one, so I took my out of the box charger to china to buy another because it's cheaper, but many of the shops say they are not oem.
They are too expensive in hong kong.
Now I have a hard time getting a note 3 one.

@op
if you do want a good quality cable, have you consider getting some professional made one's, i've also seen some sold at shops that sells professional headphones and portable power amp for phones, they have cable, but at a very very good price, anything from USD 25 to USD 150.
I use Monoprice 6-Feet USB 2.0 A Male to Micro 5pin Male 28/24AWG Cable with Ferrite Core (Gold Plated)
I have packed my oem cable, that came with my note away, that way i know i will always have a backup cable that works for certain tasks that i need to be sure are done without fault.

Replacing USB cable that comes with the chromecast?

Hello guys,
Somehow my brother messed up the cable and the little things that make it "click" when it's connected are gonne. It works but sometimes it doesn't
I was wondering if any of you has used it succesfully with another USB cable, I know it's gonna work since it's just a mico usb cable but I'm a little concerned since the original has something like a resistance in there that spherical thing along the cable.
Thanks

The casing around part of the cable is a ferrite core. It is used to reduce magnetic interference on cables. In the case of the Chromecast, they probably included it to reduce any chance of interference in your HDMI devices from the power to the Chromecast.
I wouldn't worry too much about getting one with a ferrite core, but Monoprice sells good quality cables and offers micro USB with the ferrite core.

They are good quality cables and also have a lifetime guarantee, but they're cheap enough it's probably easier to just buy a backup or two.

Thanks you so much for your well informed response, really appreciate it.
@raptir , do you think it's gonna be some trouble using a normal micro usb cable if the original cable doesnt work anymore? I'm thinking on getting one of these but I'm not sure if they ship to chile, need to find that out.
Without a ferrite choke you *might* get some audio or video interference. No damage, just the digital equivalent of static. So try it. If you get a bad signal then get the fancy cable.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 4
I have a semi non related question. Would a cable with a ferrite core eliminate the interference you get charging your phone and playing music out the 3.5mm jack at the same time?
The ferrite choke, er, chokes, some types of interference from being transmitted on the cable it is on.
Thus if you've a junky 3rd party power supply it could well be spewing all kinds of noise on the line. Then a choke can help. However if the em noise is coming from within the handset then no, the choke will have no effect.
My advice would be to use the proper charger, from the OEM, and seeing if that makes a difference. If that corrects the problem you'll not only be able to power 'n play but also extend the life of the battery by charging it as it was intended.

choetech usb c

Just got this cable and I really like it sturdy and braided, I also have the anker powerline cable and it performed just the same. Pics with the cable and phone holder.
https://imgur.com/62S7gFM
I've been using the same cable for a few months, no issues yet.
I also have this. The connectors are the sturdiest I've ever had, they give a reassuring click when put together, or when connected to a phone. Works definitely buy again
I have the choetech braided and non braided USB c cables. All are excellent for charging and data connections. None have failed in 2 years use. Top quality stuff.

Reliability of USB-C connectors?

My last two phones (S4 Active and S5) had micro USB ports that eventually wore out so much that I was constantly angling the power cords so that they would charge. Because of that experience, I am tempted to just get a qi adapter for my moto so that I never have to worry about it (in addition to the niceties of wireless charging). Of course, that is actually a considerable investment since I would need to add chargers at my bed, at my desk at work, in my car and then have a portable one for travel.
So my question is this: Are USB-C ports on phones susceptible to wear over time similarly to the Micro USB?
Yes, they are so much better.
Sure, every electronic is subject to wear and tear.
Samsung... no wonder they broke

Well, I made this observation as my work IPhones with their (annoyingly) proprietary lightning ports have not exhibited this wear and tear. The cables and the ports are not what wear out.
I've used my phones for many years and never ever had issues with it. My Moto G still plugs in strong just as much as my Galaxy Ace. I've been charging those phones at least once a day for three years each. I don't know how it's possible to wear out the connector even more. I guess plugging and unplugging constantly. Anyway the USB C it's a much stronger connector and even the metal tip it's beefier than the micro USB one. I don't think a charging pad is needed but it's up to you to decide if it's worth or not.
This is my 2nd USB C device and I've had the same cable from when I had my LG G5 and it's still just as solid as day one. USB C is a FAR superior connector to micro/mini USB
they also feel stronger to me,
but if you're really worried then you could also use those tiny magnetic microusb adapters
(not sure if they already exist for the USB type-C, but I figure they do)
ps. the most likely reason ppl mess up micro-usb ports is because they try to force them in upside down repeatedly.
with USB type-C you can't do that
USB type-C was something i specifically wanted on my new phone just for this reason.

eBay & AliExpress charging cables

Hello guys,
I am wondering is there any harm in using non-original charging cables from China.... for example brand named ROCK...
I guess charger itself is more important than the cable.??
Thanks
I bought 3 cables at ebay, about a year and a half ago, and they work as the first day, but, they are of the magnetic connector type, they are useful for charging, not for data transfer
I am also sometimes using non-original cables from eBay... but I wonder if charging with them could hurt battery?
I think that the most important factor is the charger, the cable will transmit what the charger produces, the cable at most would diminish the electrical flux
avoid cheap brands.
the note 8 uses a type C connector, which is very specific in how it needs to be built.
unfortunately some companies care more about cheap parts than following standards, resulting in cables that can fry your charging port.
I suggest you take a look at Benson Leung's reviews.
https://plus.google.com/+BensonLeung/
https://www.amazon.com/gp/profile/a...06-20&linkId=c6e15ee0d043426faa2aa32d72656baf
he regularly does in-depth tests and reviews on type C cables to see if they're safe, and many turn out to be bad.
Thank you
bought different cables in ebay for my note 8 and previous devices. just select the right brand. there are many cheap but branded cables out there. try to search for Choetech or Aukey. And make sure you selected the cable with 56k resistor as this is required for type c charging.
