it could be done for unlocked bootloaders but if you're thinking of trying it for locked bootloaders it can't be done since we have a 4.3 kernel, so you can port a 4.3 ROM theorectically

unfortunately you can't, /data partition will always be wiped when unlocking the bootloader

If I will unlock bootloader, all my apps, games saves and settings would be removed, yes? Can I simply copy folder "data" before unlock and replace copied folder after unlock? Or won't it work? Sorry for my English.

as far as I know you can backup with this without root: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup
you can use titanium backup with root and backup your apps with that.
then restore after you have unlocked the bootloader

Can you write how to port Android 4.4 from XZ1 to XT?

I have one more noob question again.
I was use a tool name Backup-TA-9.8 to backup my Xperia Z1 DRM. If I unlock it boot loader I know that the camera will not work. But if I relock it bootloader and restore my DRM. Dose the camera will work well again?

But when relocking/restoring you will not be able to use those custom roms anymore (those not based on stock), just so you remember/know.

Small question, wouldn't it be possible to unlock, root (by pushing su binaries in a custom recovery and restoring stock recovery), and relock? No reason it wouldn't work imo, and I find this procedure faster than doing the downgrade, root, recovery, upgrade method

yes, but when you unlock you void your warranty, so unless you are planning on keeping an unlocked bootloader I reckon the extra minute it takes to downgrade etc... is worth it to keep your warranty
Also,
There is no such thing as a "stock recovery" on Xperia devices.
Also,
there is no need to install a recovery on the downgrade method if you do not want to.

No warranty here anyway.
I remember OTA-upgrading an Xperia Z, and that simply flashed a zip package in recovery. Why would there be no stock recovery?
And you need to install a custom recovery to do the upgrade, either that or copy files while the system is running, and I'm not sure how the latter would work without the system crashing at some point.

No.
Xperia devices have never come with a stock recovery accessible for the user.
Upgrading OTA means you do not flash it in recovery, you download the files Over The Air and then the phone upgrades itself.
No official upgrades are done in recovery, only custom kernels, custom roms or custom updates are flashed in custom recoveries

I know what OTA means, on previous devices with stock recovery, it simply drops you into recovery and does the flashing itself without the user ever having to touch anything. Same goes for wiping user data, it's done in recovery.
Whether the recovery is accessible to the user or not is another thing, and I didn't know about it, so thanks for that.

How do you do a TA backup on the Z1? When you do the TA backup before doing anything else you usually do not have root yet, so I wonder how to backup the TA......
Follow any if the several guides in the dev section on how to backup TA. I can see at least 2 guides on the first page

if losing Warranty is not a problem to You then Yes, it's the quickest way. Doing this you will be unable to do a Backup TA so your DRM keys will be lost forever with the warranty.
i just need confirm unlock bootloader directly from 4.3 version is safe for all sony feature (x-reality, track ID, and camera ). i used nexus before thats why xperia system sencurity is strange with me

I unlocked on 4.3 and Camera, Track ID working. X-Reality turn On and Off but I never, even when I was stock, saw any difference. So if you want unlock on 4.3 (FW .136) it's ok.

Something wrong here too, it not come out of box with Kitkat, so I presume you was thinking you have it but you don't.
If you brought it used then different story, but the story of the phone we don't know.
So I don't know how to help here as Unlock Bootloader on 4.4 do NOT Breaking the camera functionality.

I bought it new from Sony with Kitkat on it in middle east -Dubai
The issue is being sorted via PM with me.
However, this is a synopsis.
The OP unlocked the bootloader on 4.4 - Camera works.
Then, instead of just flashing a custom kernel to gain root, the OP followed a guide for a locked bootloader to gain root. Once they downgraded to 4.2 the camera broke.
In order to fix this the solution is
1) Relock the bootloader (by restoring the TA partition if a TA backup was made, in this case not, or by using flashtool)
2) Use pccompanion to upgrade to latest FW
3) Re-unlock the bootloader by the official method (Or flashtool, if it was re-locked with flashtool)
4) Flash a stock based custom kernel
5) Install SuperSU from the play store.

I don't think so if you unlocked on 4.2
If you unlocked on 4.3+ it wont break anyway
try relocking the boot with flashtool, upgrading by pccompanion then unlocking again with flashtool

[Q] Z1 c903 Bootloader locking. Help!

Hello all! Im new in xda forum, so i will be greatefull if you help me with my Sony Z1 phone. I have Z1 c903 on android 5.0.2., and I was mad on sony becouse they didnt make update to 5.1, so i was looking on forum how to root and install some custom rom and make my phone updated. So i find on some thread that i should unlock bootloader, and i followed instructions and unlocked it, but without making some backup or anything else. So i have seen that there is official update for sony and i want to get back to lock bootloader. But when i enter flashtool and enter "blu" i click on relock bootloader, and start phone type *#*#service#*#* it say that my bootloader is still unlocked. How should i get back to locked bootloader or make official update to 5.1. Please make it more clear becouse i am pretty noob for android development and rest. Also i want to add that i have not rooted my phone or install some custom rom or other, i just have unlock bootloader and thats all. Could i get back my "DRM keys" and could i get back my ofiicial android. Thanks in advance.

NO. You can't unlock your bootloader if 'unlock bootloader allowed = no'
Since you cannot unlock bootloader, therefore you cannot flash custom ROM on your phone.
Rooting phone do not always need bootloader to be unlocked. There will be some ways available to root your phone with LB.
Also there will be some ROMs available that can be flashed over LB. But they'll be based on stock and will not have more features rather than stock features.
You just need to search here on XDA
I suggest you not to flash any ROM on LB. You'll eventually get bootloops and maybe hard brick.

Nope! As much as I know, you cannot change status from 'no to yes' rather than changing your motherboard to do so. It'll cost you more than you buyed it.
It is related to TA Partition. And EVERY phone has its unique TA. So no one can change its status. Flashing other phones TA to your phone will brick your device.

In such case you need to roll back to your previous android version. I don't think you could unlock your bootloader. But if you are telling it was 'yes' before, then you should try.
No matter your phone works with every sim or not. TA Partition contains DRM keys as well as many other things related to network, warranty, services which get erased after unlocking bootloader.

Yes you can flash any stock ROM through flashtool. You just need to download appropriate firmware (.ftf)
Even you could update your phone through PC Companion. The latest version is 5.1.1 Available.
BTW why are you trying to flash stock ROM? Are you using any custom ROM already?

You mean bootscreen, right?
Just because of bootscreen are you going to change the entire ROM?
You could change bootscreen manually. Your phone just need to be rooted to do so. To root your phone use kingroot app. If your lucky enough, your phone will be rooted.
There are tons of bootscreens available. Just pick one and place it in /system/media (don't forget to backup old one) with -rw--r--r permissions and Bingo! You have changed your bootscreen.

Dude, your on latest android version. There isn't any exploit available to root ver 5.1.1
You either need to wait until anyone makes an exploit for your phone or you need downgrade your phone and root it.
There is a pre-rooted firmware available for lollipop But it works only if phone has 5.0.2 .
Unfortunately your phone has 5.1.1 that means you still need to downgrade your phone and flash pre-rooted 5.1.1
Also, your bootloader can't be unlocked. So you need to flash ROM accordingly. Don't ever flash ROM that are meant for unlocked bootloader.
Regards,
hitman-xda
when someone makes an exploit for my phone and root 5.1.1 . i steel need to unlock the boot loader ?
