[Q] Picture folder full without pictures - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My girlfriend makes alot photos from our kids. The folder was almost full some days ago so she moved (not copied) all pictures onto her laptop. When we look at the storage details the pictures still take about 19GiB but looking at the pictures we just see that there is nothing. I guess the folder is full with hidden files. Is there any way to get rid of them without using factory reset?
Nokia Lumia 1020

Did she use the Nokia software to do it? For reasons not completley obvious to me, Nokia stores the high-resolution photos (which will be the vast bulk of the stored data) that its camera app uses separately from the "normal" (5MPx) resolution photos that every other app (including the OS) sees. It sounds like she moved off the low-res images but not the high-res ones. If you check the Nokia camera app (instead of the built-in Pictures app) are the photos still there?
I believe there's a desktop app from Nokia that can retrieve those files...?

When i connect my 1020 to my PC i have acces to "Ordinateur\Nokia Lumia 1020\Phone\Pictures\Camera Roll" witout app.

Yes, but that's the public files exposed by the OS only. App files, including the pictures that the high-end Lumias take, don't seem to be included.

In the folder you have : Smart.nar (SmartCam), Pro.jpg (ProCam5Mp), Pro__highres.jpg (ProCam High-res).

A new member with some questions

Ok, so i have already searched the forum and tried the suggestions but it didn't work.
Anyone have Mp3 trimmer from the original Diamond working on the D2? i downloaded one but it only takes up about 1/4 of the screen and is too small to work with.
As a new owner and a n00bie to all these fantastic apps (I had the diamond for a year and never actually did anything to it except add skype),
What are the essential apps to download for the D2? things that really make a difference or are a lot of fun?
my last question...When i add a photo to a contact, on the contact page it comes out in low res....any idea how to make it high res?

I have not used the MP3 Trimmer but it sounds like the resoultion is out, maybe have a lookie in the Touch HD forum as the HD is the same res as the D2
On the note of contacts, I have found that if I use a old photo stored on the storage card it has a reduced res, when I took a new photo of the contact with the camera going through the "change photo" menu it produced a better high res shot

Saved Pictures Aren't Shown in Photos App Although Present on the Phone. Viewer Issue

Howdy,
Lately I've been saving a number of pictures from Internet Explorer and Whatsup, and once I got to Photos|Saved pictures, I saw many saved photos aren't there. Curious, I've plugged the phone to the PC and browsed to SD Card\Pictures\Saved Pictures and... all of the saved pictures were there in the Saved picture, they just didn't appear in the Photos app.
What could be the issue? Could that be traced anyhow? Pretty itching issue.
Luxon
PS.: I've been experiencing an issue like that when I've had reading failures after I turned on Full File System Access once on my Samsung ATIV S. But then I had issues with Photos app closing every now and then after it was launched. I don't experience such issues now, Photos app and other apps like Camera don't close on starting.
Hmm... are they all image formats that the Pictures app recognizes? IE supports a lot of image formats (SVG, for example) that are not officially supported image formats on the phone.
When you save a picture in IE, it gets shown fullscreen and there's a message at the top, even when it says finished, it only saves the picture when you wait for it to disappear, clicking back will cancel it.

[Q] Google photos app low quality pictures?

Hey guys I've been noticing that my gogle photos app shows photos and videos in lower quality then what they are, yet when I go to the device folders page they show up at the correct quality. I have my account sync set to original and so I would just really want to know if anyone else has been experiencing this or if it's just me?
I'm running Pure Nexus by the way in case that helps
If they have been backed up to the cloud, its likely that those are just smaller res versions for viewing on mobile (less bandwith).
Something you could do to test, remove a couple of the photos off your device (i.e. move to your PC) go into the photos app and find the same photos, click download and see the quality of what you get from that.

Cannot open photos properly in windows explorer

Hey guys, I have an issue with my N6, with opening and viewing my photos.
I can view my files and folders in MTP mode on my computer running Windows 7 just fine from a general standpoint. I can click through folders, files and navigate just fine.
When it comes to photos I can see all thumbnails for my photos in DCIM ---> Camera, but when i double click to open, windows photo viewer (default that comes with Windows 7) will try to open it and it gives me an error "Window's Photo Viewer can't open this picture because either Photo Viewer doesn't support this file format, or you don't have the latest updates to photo Viewer."
Then it proceeds to hang in that windows and I have to force close it because it's "Not responding". If I try a second time, but instead, right click on the photo and hit open, it opens up fine with the photo viewer that I have set as default (FastStone Image Viewer), it opens up just fine.
I can only click left and right through the photos that I right clicked to open. So if I opened 3 photos using the right click method I can use the arrow keys left and right to view only those 3 photos. I also tried Camera (PTP) mode and still the same issue. Charge only mode forces Camera (PTP) Mode for some odd reason.
I have my drivers installed, I can navigate photos, files, folders, but I can't double click to open any photos and these are just regular photos taken with the standard default camera app in android with no strings attached.
To be fair this is a nuanced problem and I can easily circumvent it by right clicking to open up each photo but what the heck man. I'm tired of having these issues. I want things to work properly... Any ideas?
Bump.
Anyone?
hey OP try ACDsee image viewer free .. copy and paste in pc if it didn't worked test it in other pc running newer version of windows hope it works.
I don't want to have to use third-party software or copy and paste to circumvent an issue like this...
Anyone?
Probably not what you want to hear- but the easiest workaround on the planet. Install Google Photos (free unlimited "high quality" photo cloud storage), any time you want to view your photos go to http://photos.google.com

Question Photo album alternatives (Android and Windows)

Hey everyone,
When I take a photo in Portrait mode, I have the option to adjust the focus after the shot in the Albums app.
Are there any other apps I can use on for mobile and Windows that will allow me to adjust the focus, or is that feature gone when a photo is uploaded (full size) to the cloud for backup?
I'm asking because after a while I want to clean up the photos/videos on my phone to free up space but would still like to go back to some of the older photos every now and then.
Thanks!
