Z1/something else. I know when I used it the Z1 had a forward slash and another model number but I don't remember what it was. SUS won't flash a different devices firmware anyway. It only flashes a firmware that matches the device that's currently hooked up.

You can use any Rom that is based on a stock firmware and kernel.
Make sure you have cwm recovery to flash Rom

Not unless someone manages to find an exploit to unlock it.

i heard you need to be on stock based firmware to install the recovery,
but you can flash on other roms and manually flash the kernel or something like that
im not too sure,

BL is already unlockable, one unlocked u lose all DRM, there is no need for exploit.
Root was needed just to push the recovery to the stock kernel.
And CM uses a completely different kernel than the stock and the only way to flash it by unlocked BL

Exactly. I'm not sure of the chances that non-unlockable devices will become unlockable. If I said any amount if time I'd be making it up :/
One of the devs said that Sony bootloaders are locked up tight though...

Hi everyone,
This is my first time posting so sorry if it is in the wrong place
I have got an xperia z and I decided to change over to cyanogen mod. I the got rid of that and flashed across a stock rom which works fine however it is telling me that I have an update ready but the update center won't do the update because it tells me I have a custom rom so does anyone know how to return it to how it was when it came out of the box?
Many thanks in advance

Relock your bootloader if you want to receive updates officially. Flashtool can do it in BLU mode.

Many people have to wait much longer for the Update specially from Carriers. Just a little of patience. You will get it anyway but you have to wait.

Sorry. If you can't wait flash 290 CA generic in Z1 General thread and then hook up to PC Companion. You'll get the update.

If you are going to do that you may as well just flash a 4.4 ftf.

I didn't take that route due to the plethora of issues listed. Figured I'd get the update direct from the source.

Which kind of issues?
Read the thread in general. You name it. I'm not saying the ftf method caused them but many users have remedied them by factory resetting. I've also read that users updating via PC Companion have not experienced as many problems. Just a theory.

Right, just a theory. BTW, issues was reported form day 1 with any update like 4.3. Many of them was solved with a Factory Reset so it's not a news. It happen with the 4.4 as well, maybe more frequently, but I will recommend a Factory Reset after any Upgrade, even if there still no issues. Then I don't know what really stop you.
