First off, i know ALOT of people have this issue, and have brought it up across several topics and custom rom pages, but i dont think theres a specific thread for this.
After unplugging my phone from the charger at 100%, it drops to 98 percent immediately, within seconds. After that to 96, then 94, and then it stays steady and starts discharging normally. Basically, within a minute or two the charge drops from 100 to 94 percent without any use whatsoever. This happens across multiple roms so its not a rom issue.
Ive tried wiping the entire phone, running it down to 0% and recharging, recharging it back to 100% once it hits 94%, but the problem keeps recurring.
Is the battery starting to lose its life? What are some ways i can test to see whats causing this? Or better yet, a way to fix this?
For example, is there an app that can tell you the capacity of the battery at any given time, so i can check if it actually drops mAh between 100% and 94%?
Oh yea, and i normally take the phone off the charger right when the green light turns on and it hits 100%, so its not caused by trickle charging.
Any tip is appreciated.
Unplugging and plugging it back in right after it hits 100% causes the phone to start charging from 95% again, happened twice in a row now.

same with my htc one.I did every calibration, power saving but nothing change.i came from GPE when i notice this sudden battery drop.then convert it again to its stock ruu, update it to 4.3,same battery drop then final update it to 4.4.2 and still the same problem..from 100 to 96 to 90 then 88 just using it for 10 mins,,my max screen time is just 2hrs..
I think for a year use,,my battery start to degrade,,maybe

im not sure if its a battery issue or a system issue, it seems like the battery isnt getting topped off properly since plugging it right back in causes it to start charging from 95% again. It seems to me that it never actually reaches 100%
Same here with AOSP or Sense Rom, after i load the One over the night, plugged it off (with 100%) and turn the scrren 2 minutes later on - it loose 2 %.
In beginning i never had this - sometimes my mobile was running over 2 days without charging (Slimrom) now over 1 day running is rarely.
I think its the battery, the companies want the people buy new stuff year by year and now the time is correct with the new HTC M8 release..

thats prolly just a delay because turning on the phone uses quite a bit of battery, so the 2% is probably a result of that. One or two percent after charging is explainable, but anything more than that (ie 4-10%) then theres a problem.
same problem
I have the same problem...I charge the phone until 100% and turn off , next i turn on and lose 10% ......
this problem start with rom 4.4.2....i change to other 4 roms and the problem not go away
Now i try to downgrade to 4.3 to test

Found a way to fix it: turn off fastboot, fixed the issue for me.
Additionally, theres a calibration method that comes directly from HTC to fix this issue.
Let the phone charge while on for at least ten minutes, turn the phone off while still plugged in, and hold power, volume up, and volume down for two minutes. The phone will reboot several times.
Didn't have to do this since turning off fastboot did the trick for me.
How i turn off fastboot??
Here i can find calibration method from HTC?
Enviado do meu HTC One
I thought this was normal. it happens to me too but i thought it was because when the phone is at 100 while charging, it stops charging till it gets to 95 while still reporting 100. so if the charge is at 95 but it displays 100 and you remove the charger it would drop to 95 after a minute.

My phone suddenly just shuts down when I'm using it... not a "powering off" but just out of nowhere turns off
Anyone know what the problem might be?
I've had this same issue before, so I bought a new battery last month and it worked great until just last week...
I've tried resetting the battery stats....nothing....
The battery still fully charges and shows the correct percentage when I plug in the charger to use...
Could it be the ROM or battery issue?
....I'm currently using cannon's rom... 2.2.1
Anyone know how to fix?..... thanks

Well if you have a new battery already. And it shows its good. I think it might be the rom then.

Something to take note, What are you doing when it does this?
-Surfing net on the phone
-Listening to music
-Charging
-Tethering
Keeping in mind that the phone will shut its self down (it should) if your battery starts to over heat. On my Hero the charge light flashes before it shuts down and it gets really hot to the touch. Also at higher heat temps, overall battery life suffers.
my phones shuts down usually when wifi is on and im sirfing or using youtube app or google maps(every time i use wifi for a while this happens...)
it also shuts down rarely on calls and sometimes when im trying to flash a new rom...
it doesnt powers on until i connect it on AC...
I REALLY NEED HELP...
ps:if i change the battery will my problem been solved?

it turns off randomly...even when im just browsing through the home screens... a full charge will last me like 5 minutes max.... no matter what im doing an the battery doesnt overheat at all...
and when i plug it in to the charger, it shows the correct percentage.. well at least an estimate of what it could be (for about 5 min of use before shut down= 95%)
I have the same problem, It is extremely frustrating.
The shutdowns would happen randomly during surfing the net or using google maps. It would shut down out of no where and it would be impossible to turn back without being plugged into a charger since the phone thinks it battery is at 0 even it was just charged to full before the shutdown. I tried to calibrate the battery but it would just shut down while I'm trying to burn through the charge with the screen on. This is the such a nuisance, can't even get through one day.
I am using biffmod 1.8 so I don't know if this is a rom related problem.
I'm havuing the exact same problem. Even with a full battery, the pgone will shut down when I do anything more than a text or two here and there. When I put it on the charger I will still have a significant amount of power left. I've tried doing full wipes and changing roms. I think it might actually be related to the radio. This began after I updated the radio. It would get stck on formatting the cache. I tried going back to the old radio, but the problem has persisted.. and it also got stuck on formatting cache...
I hope someone can help with this bc it pretty much renders the phone useless when it's not being charged. =\
try change the battery...this solve my prob
you could try recalibrating the battery.
let your phone die.
plug it in for so long that you are 100% sure that it is full.
boot to recovery wipe battery stats.
boot normal
use it and let it die.
recharge again until its full BEFORE booting it.
if you sure its full boot normal.
if you follow this cycle some times it should be fine.
Only issue: you have to wait long until its full and you always have to be near an ac
i've tried re-callibration.. guess i will have to get another battery..
i don't think it's the battery though bc others with the same problem said that the problem persisted after getting a new battery.. =\ we'll see.. thanks for the replies.
Not sure if this is a problem with the captivate (Rogers I897) or if it's just a select few, but I noticed last night despite the usb charger being plugged in overnight, once the battery reported full, it stopped charging.
So basically, I got home from work, plugged in my captivate because the battery was rather low (only takes 24 hours of maybe 30 mins to 1h of actual usage before I get below 40%), and it took 4-5 hours to charge completely. When I unplugged it in the morning though, it was already down to 64% with just being idle all night.
So is this normal or should I ask for a replacement battery or something?
There are a lot of posts around here about batterirs dying quickly, and "charge death", but I'm not really sure whats going on with your phone. All I can suggest is that you make sure that you close all apps and stuff before letting it idle, and just see how that goes. I suppose you could just have a bad battery. Are you on a custom ROM or stock? I had problems with battery life when I first flashed to a custom rom, but since then I've switched to serendipity 4.3, I have it undervolted, I keep an eye out with a task manager, and my phone has no problems lasting all day, even while texting a good amount/using it for searches and stuff.
What ROM are you running?
Did you have GPS/Bluetooth/Wireless left on?
There are known issues with certain builds of ROM's causing this issue. If your on a stock ROM and still having this issue? I would take it in to possibly have it warrantied out or at least have the battery replaced.
I haven't ever had an issue with my phone losing a charge while plugged in.
Yeah, stock ROM. I haven't installed any additional task managers, but I usually open it up and kill all tasks when I'm finished with them.
I do keep bluetooth and GPS off at all times, but I leave wifi on overnight because I didn't think the battery would stop charging entirely once it was full. I've only had the phone a week so I could get it replaced, I just wanted to investigate it a bit to see if it's a common issue or not before I did that.

Settings --> Mobile and Network --> Wifi Settings --> Advanced (soft key) --> When screen turns off
This would turn off wifi after 15 mins of inactivity. This would help save ur battery.
And yes, charge does get cut off when left for extended times, but not right after it says charge full.
Recalibrate your battery/battery stats. This is my method, there are many others though:
1. Charge the phone with the phone ON, until the phone indicates full battery
2. Unplug the charger, replug, continue charging until full battery again (I repeat this 2-3 times)
3. Turn off phone, charge until full battery
4. Unplug the charger, replug, continue charing until full battery again (Again, I repeat 2-3 times)
5. Turn on the phone, let the phone charge yet again.
6. Boot into Android Recovery, delete battery stats (Advance -> Wipe Battery Stats)

By default, wifi does get turned off when the screen goes dark and I haven't changed it.
I've also been tring to flash to a new ROM (been trying Android 2.2), but Kies won't load my phone). I think I'll research other methods when I have time.

If u r not heavy on data and use it for things like mails and chats, and esp when in an area with no proper 3G coverage, u can switch to EDGE and get out of 3G. 3G sucks more battery compared to EDGE.
So I wasn't able to complete all the steps to kind of fix the battery problem, but I plugged it in to almost 100% (I think it was like 98% or something, I had to go out so I had to unplug it), but when I got back I plugged it in again and let it charge overnight. This morning however, it was still at 100%, and now, about 8.5 hours later, it's only at 73% so I think maybe it just had to normalize it.

Give it some time to normalize. And charge showing 98% when unplugged at 100% is normal.
And yes, seeing 60% battery left after an hour of calls and tasks involving an hour plus of display on after a day's work, apart from push emails, etc (~14 hours standby) isn't so new anymore to me.
Stop watching the battery so closely for about a week and u'll be all set
I was on darkys 8.1 rom with jk4 modem, calibrated the battery one time and I went 18 hours. Starting from 98%
6 hours were phone calls, 1.5 hours of text messaging. 2 hours of power amp . The rest was pretty much just standby/idle time.
Though, I don't get that anymore though.. Jk4 has gone to **** for me. I used to get full signal majority of the time, and for places where other people go no bars, I got one or two. Now its pretty horrible it makes me sad ;(

Hello, i have my htc one a couple of weeks now and from the first time i noticed paranormal battery drain activity!
So first i tried to turn everything off it didn't help, more analyticaly:
Energy Saving Mode = On
Beats Audio = on
Brightness = 1st of the three brightness modes
Wifi = off
GPS = off
Location Services = off
Accounts Sync = all off
HSDPA = on and off after done using data
Apps running in the background = i closed each and every one immediately after done using them
Blinkfeed = completely off
Then I tried to reset battery memory by completely let the battery discharge and recharge overnight twice, i have seen no improvement.
When i surf or facebook i can see the battery meter to drop down 1% almost every 2 minutes or so, some times less with the above mentioned settings.
Also i have noticed that in standby with everything off there's still significant battery drainage.
I kept the best for last, just 10 minutes ago while connected on my computer via usb cable, fully charged at 100% with green led on top for more than an hour i just did a reboot, and after the reboot with the usb cable still connected i saw the battery 99% ?????? After what, a reboot and still connected to the usb and charging ? WTF?

it depends on how you use your phone and how much time it has been turned on. If your phone has been on for more than 24 hours then 3 hours of screen is fine. But yeah maybe you should do a factory reset and install gsam to monitor your battery stats and the apps that are sucking your battery. I have noticed that facebook chat drains the battery too fast.

I think you live in a sunny place, if you do than 2.5 hours is sort of normal at full brightness, if you want 5 or longer you need to set the brightness way lower but I think that sort of dimishes the beauty of the screen, enjoy it on auto-brightness

What nonsense?!
70% of my screen time is medium. I rarely use my phone in the sun.
I usually get around 2.5 screen/<14 total hrs. That's not normal? My phone's not set up right? Yay!
Or maybe it's the facebook. My auto sync is off, but I will disable the FB apps and see how that goes.
I actually do have GSAM, and it tells me that my kernel uses ~25% of my power. Android system is usually ~15%. Is that normal? If so, I may try a backup/reset.
Screen uses ~10% of power and main app is Chrome, with little to no Maps/Voice in a day.
A quick report after factory reset seems like that my battery is somewhat normal
1day 7hours and I still have 34% remaining
Use: half standby half normal use
I have the Dev Edition 64Gb One and I'm getting just 12 hours! I have autobrightness on, Greenify taking care of all the apps I don't use so frequently, not using maps/location services. I noticed each time I enter recovery, I have like 4% less than what my phone says and if I turn it on I have now what the bootloader said! Weird, and I was shocked to see this when I red a lot of people were having fantastic battery life.
Also, as I'm so lucky, mine has the blue/red thing in the camera, and a small gap in the top. It seems I got the All-(Problems)-In-One One..

Try with InsertCoin + Elemental kernel, with no pocketdetection or sweep2wake etc. and the recommended undervolting in the aroma installation
That gives me like 5.5 hours of screen with the phone turned on for 20+ hours and wifi: 6+hours, all of this with an average usage
hello again I noticed a rather peculiar thing regarding battery drainage.
couple of days ago when I reported that my battery was somewhat normal I had my phone charged with energy saving mode off I charged this way two times since the factory reset. Everything was normal I was able to get one+ day of use. Yesterday though I charged my phone with energy saving mode ON and I immediately noticed abnormal battery drain as before.
Can anyone with battery drain problem try to fully charge their phone with energy saving mode off and post their results?
I have a strong feeling that there is a bug or something.
My problem is, the phone is fully charged. i disconnect the charger and a few seconds later the battery is between 96% and 93%. I connect it to the charger, charge it back to 100% (led green) disconnect it, and the same happens again.
I already let the Phone discharge to 1%. The same happening again.
Someone any idea? thx
Same problem here, just sent it in to HTC for camera repair, got it back. Then battery problems. Sent it back because of the battery, still crappy. 32GB Unlocked. I get 10 hours at most on idle, everything off.

I think it has to do with the hotness of the Phone and the purple camera fault. Don't know what to do anymore!
Hello, hope you can help, i have a moto x (1053) the problems is that the batterry remains in 1% for 20 or 30 minutes before it shut down. I tried charge it to 100 and then left the phone turn off but the same situation passes, 1% of the batterry for 20 or 30 minutes before it shut down. Im running T-mobile 4.4.3,
Program for calibrate battery did not work either. Anyone can give another thing to try.
Maybe a battery Problem? . GSAM says the battery duration its about 18 hours with 3:45 of active display.
Hi, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/moto-x-qa/battery-suddenly-drops-t2533071
If it's a new one, wait for 3-4 full charge/discharge cycles.
This is a known problem. I've gone through over 40 cycles and still get the same 1% issue. Currently no fix available until Motorola release some sort of an update.
I've just opened a new case with Motorola regarding this issue.
They told me to hold down the power button and the vol down button for over 2 minutes then starting in normal mode. She said that this method forces a hardware reset of the processor and terminates all running commands.

Guys....this is perfectly normal, and there is nothing wrong with it. I'm not understanding why you are even concerned!!!
Car manufacturers do the exact same thing. Your car shows "empty" long before you actually run out of gas. Why? They don't WANT you to run out of gas....
So why not warn you well ahead-of-time that you are about to lose your battery and shut down, possibly giving you time to find your charger and charge it up!
Why would anyone complain that their phone is taking too long to "die"? I don't get it. Also, this happens on my 10-month-old X too....and I sure do appreciate it (Thanks Motorola!!!), because it has prevented my phone from dying multiple times....
Besides: to the OP: you are getting 18+ hours battery life????? That's --EXCELLENT--!!!! Please don't worry about the 1% thing...

I completely agree.
Thank you!

I am facing a battery problem. whenever i reboot or boot into recovery, the battery level randomly falls down about 10 to 20 percent.. also, if i connect the charger after a discharge, the battery starts charging from 0 but when i boot the phone, sometimes it just charges up straight to 15 percent or 20 percent.. if i disconnect the charger and start using the phone, the battery starts discharging normally and continues till zero again (sometimes it jumps straight from 3 percent to zero).. dont understand whats going on..
actually this problem started after i flashed ivan's first build of the lollipop rom (using true dual boot).. at that time i thought its a bug.. but after that it started when i had only miui too..
please help..
Delete batterystats.bin
Or install battery calibration app from play store

Actually, let me tell you what happened yesterday.. I was using the phone, so the battery came down to 0 and the phone switched off.. I connected the charger, so the phone went started charging from 0 percent.. Fair enough.. But when i switched the phone on.. (Booted into android) the battery level went straight to 12 percent.. So, i disconnected the charger and was able to use the phone for some 15 minutes. After that, the battery fell down to 0 from 5 percent.. Then, i allowed the phone to charge for some time.. It reached the level of 64 percent. And then i deleted the batterystats.bin and rebooted.. The battery level went to 86 percent straight..
So what i suspect is.. I dont have a battery problem since if i loose charge after a reboot, i get that back during charging..
And i dont know why but this problem occurs more often when i boot into the recovery.. Any guesses why recovery is causing this ?

The same thing is happening to me too right now in cm13. So i reverted back to miui where the battery jump doesn't happen but while using normally battery discharge is erratic like it goes from 32 to 20 in a minute. This happens a lot more when charge is below 20 percent. while using normally when the battery is at 100, it goes to 80 after 1 hr of usage but 20-0 takes 10 minutes in cm13.
i have tried calibrating the battery many times to no improvement whatsoever.
As you said when the battery discharges completely the phone turns off. Now when i plug into the charger and boot it to cm13 the battery indicator shows 19 or 23 or some random number
Did you find any fix for this erratic behavior ?
- If you're using custom kernel, stop using it and revert to stock.
- Either dirty flash (to revert the kernel)+use/wait until the battery's ran out+charge it while turned off, OR clean flash without using custom kernel

I'm not on any custom kernel and I tried charging the phone without booting to Android. Still no change :crying:

Yes 2 days ago I wiped everything including internal storage and installed cm13
So you don't have this issue ? Which ROM are you on right now?
Somehow it feels like twrp is causing this cause whenever I boot to recovery there is a battery drop by 2-3 percent or suddenly the battery shows 60 or something like that instead of 30 or whatever the correct value is

I'm on AOKP currently, swtching from CM13 since I wanted to try it. I got the same problem seldomly, but that's because of custom kernel keep on borking the battery calibration.
If I were you, I'd started searching for a new battery, just in case it was dying out. If my memories serves me right, before I need to replaced my battery because of short bootloops, my battery's level also started to jump haphazardly without any reason.

Maybe my battery has become faulty but I still feel this is a software problem because since I moved from twrp 3.0.2-0 and cm13 to twrp 2.8.7.0 and aokp the battery jumps have become less frequent but they are still there.
If it was a software problem I think most people wouldn't notice as they won't use their phones till the battery discharges completely all the time.

bad news my friend, my mi3 started doing the same, a week later I was taking some pictures and then suddenly it started to bootloop or only boot to fastboot mode. The only solution was to replace the battery. I hope is not the same with your phone. Good Luck
Hmm.. But this thing started with me in just 6 months after buying the phone.. Also, the screen on time i get is more or less the same as others.. So i dont think so that my battery is bad.. I have tried calibrating it many times but no luck.. And for some reason, my battery always jumps from 13 percent to 10 percent directly
having the same problem since i flashed MM roms. If the battery only left 10% , it will drained in minutes
Same problem with me.
I was having similar problems! Until later on I came to the conclusion that my phone was not getting charged correctly! I was and am using OEM charger! So charger problem was out of the question!
Then I thought that it might be the battery problem, since the phone is now 2 years old! I disassembled my phone out of curiosity to check the status of the battery, has it swelled or leaked! Turns out that the charging port was dead! The litmus dot over the the charging port had turned to pink, symbolizing that some water or moisture had entered in somehow! I went to the nearest Xiaomi Service Station and ordered for the part!
You too can check if this might have happened to your phone too!
