[Q] Can I flash a Z1 C6903 ftf on my Z1 C6902? - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an Xperia Z1 C6902 which I believe is the non LTE version. On my phone the KitKat update causes it to play sound through the earpiece rather than the loudspeaker very randomly which I think is highly irritating. I dug around a bit and noticed not all are suffering from this. Mostly C6902 users are. So can i flash a C6903 ftf or for that matter any Z1 ftf on my C6902? Can I possibly go wrong with this or destroy my device? Please help!!! Else I was planning to downgrade to Jelly Bean until Sony releases the patch for this. :crying:

It won't boot because the modem/baseband is different. I think you can get away with it if you flash the modem/baseband of an 02 ftf afterwards, but I'm not sure so I wouldn't recommend trying unless you're feeling very adventurous

It's a risky job, someone did and had sim issues. It's not recommended and you can brick your phone too.

I shall pass
Thanks for your views on it. I think I shall pass.

Xperia Z SO-02E

Guys, what do you think, will i be able to flash Japan version of Z by international version of f/w ?
If you're talking about official FTF firmwares then no. And if you're talking about flashable zips through recovery then yes(if you can unlock the bootloader).
No, i`m talking about official FTF. Do you really think that i couldn`t flash FTF from C6603 mobel to SO-02E phone ?
First of all, you will not be able to unlock the bootloader, even if you happened too, then you would need to flash the international version f/w followed by the docomo f/w else it would behave weird.
When you flash the international f/w, you must select only the kernel or system.img (only) and then you must exclude that component while flashing the docomo f/w. This is the way to get root on docomo phones, unless some hack or vulnerability discovered to root it..
Previously I had Xperia Acro S from Japan and this how I got root on it..

[Q] Bell Xperia Z C6616

Hello
Just wondering if everyone on bell with an Xperia z (c6616) is still only on 4.1.2
or if i am just not getting any updates, i see a lot of others like C6603 getting updates, i assume it could just be taking some time in canada.
Thanks
You can flash any other region's 4.2.2 ftf with flashtool. The only difference really is the bands supported. If you really wanted to, you can not flash the radio and just flash the rom, as long as it's C6603

Any tips on how to do this? I've been hesitant to falsh the C6603 rom because I didn't want to screw up the bands.

You can uncheck what you don't want flashed (modem I think it was... or was it baseband? Can't remember, but check the stickies for flashing info)

The only way I know Is to get the right ftf file for your handset and flash it back to 4.4.4, if you can't find the right firmware for your phone, then you may have to create your own using xperifirm and flash tool. either way you will keep iemi number and be able to flash it on a locked bootloader.

I want to Downgrade my Z1

Hey everyone,
I need help soon as possible.
I have a Xperia Z1 C6903 with android 5.1.1 and my firmware is 14.6.A.9.368 and I want to downgrade to 4.4 (KitKat) because Android 5.1.1 is stealing a lot of battery and is slower than 4.4, so I want to get back to it.
MY PHONE IS ROOTED.
I saw a lot of threads about this, but I still don't know much..
I have flashtool, I just need a download link for a firmware of 4.4 (KitKat) that is compatible with my phone and will run without problems.
(I dont know if this is important but my SI is 1276-1925.8 EL,EN) <- Don't know what is this..
I'm from Portugal, so I'm sure I need a firmware of Portugal version I dont know.. I think I have an Unlocked phone.
Waiting for help.. Thanks!
Wrong board - this should have been under XPERIA Z1 Q&A, HELP & TROUBLESHOOTING
No, you don't need to unlock your phone's bootloader to use Flashtool and flash a stock 4.4.4
You can check the FTF download links posted in our community boards. Technically speaking it's OK to use another regions FTF on your phone, i.e. Philippine phone (like mine) using Singapore ROM is just as the same as Philippine phone using Philippine ROM.
I recently downgraded to 4.4.4 from a spanish mod'er.
Was also just sick of LL's battery life... and suddenly I can forget about charging etc. Finally lasts for about two days again...

Lollipop is faster and much better overall
Kitkat just fur battery life on 3g and app compatibility
I find if i disable location the battery last longer
