Hi everyone!
I bought recently a new galaxy s advanced and for some weird reason i can't make calls, can't text and can't receive anything. But i can unlock my sim without any problem and i can use mobile internet.
I had first the original gingerbread rom (i9070XXLK2), rupgraded it to 4.1.2 jelly bean(i9070XXLQE), rooted it, upgraded the kernel to this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2140597 and after that tried a cyanogen rom(this one => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2497660 ), went after the cyanogen back to the 4.1.2 but nothing works.
atm it is running original 4.1.2 rooted and cwm.
I also tried galaxSim but it doesn't support the galaxy s advanced, also the *#simlock# thing does not work. I am not sure there is a simlock on the phone because mobile internet works.
If you need more info just ask! Not really sure what information you need to know.
I have no idea what to do now, i hope some1 can help me.

You must do Factory reset when you change ROM. Do it now.
Do you have I9070 or I9070P? On CM you do not have network unless you change tee folder if your phone is I9070P.

I have factory resetted it 3 or 4 times (after every rom flash).
It's an I9070, not the P one.
If some1 tries to call me they hear an automated message tape thing that says my number is blocked and i need to call my provider.
I did call my provider and there is nothing blocking my number or the phone.
When i put my sim in another phone everything works fine so the issue must be in the phone itself.
Thanks for trying to help :highfive:

Try to put some other SIM in phone. See what happens then. And did you wipe dalvik cache too? Try that.

I tried 3 different SIM's but all from the same provider, i am going to visit a friend tomorrow to lend his SIM (he has another provider). I wiped dalvik cache every time i factory resetted it (after every rom flash)
Is it possible there is a piece of hardware in the phone blocking the calls and the messages?
Found out something new, if i do phone (the app) => call settings => additional settings, i get a message saying "network or sim card error".
I am searching for an hour now for a fix but i can't find anything. I will keep searching for another couple of hours, i really want to fix this.

I don't know, as far i can see there is no sign of a provider/region lock. During boot no logo from a provider, sim can be unlocked when it asks for my PIN.
I tried to figure out if there is a simlock with *#SIMLOCK# but the code does not work. Any idea how i can see if there is a sim-lock?

I am not sure where you can look for that. And you bought from store or? You can go there and ask them maybe what is the problem. You have warranty?

I bought it from an auction, a phone shop went bust and they sold thousands of phones. They had over 20 shops and they were not promoting a provider.
it was brand new in a sealed box and as far as i know i don't have warranty.
Is there a place to check if there is still a warranty on the phone?
EDIT: just checked and i have still warranry (produced at oktober 2012) but the problem i have now is, i flashed it a couple of times, isn't my warranty ruined now?

I am not sure how is it in your country about that. You can go to some service center to see if the phone is locked to some carrier.
I just tried to check the binary counter, but as far as i can see it didn't move during the flashes and looks original
When i go in download mode i get this:
Odin mode
Product name: GT-I9070
Custom binary download: no
current binary: samsung official
I think this means it got still warranty?
If it is, i'm going to put back jelly bean on it and try to send it back to samsung, is there a chance they will fix it and won't find out i messed with it?

Yes, just go back to JB and you are good to go. And you can uninstall app that need root if you have any.

i hope they fix it! Again thanks for the help! :highfive:
Sad news, the phone is back from RMA and there is a simlock on it, but the problem is i can't find a method to remove it 4 free (don't want to pay even more for the damn thing). I am going to a shop from the original carrier over a couple of days(i know which carrier simlocked the crap out of it and they have shops not really far from here) but i am not sure they unlock it for free, and tbh the people that work there probably have no clue how to do it, so i don't have a lot of hope for that so i want to try it first myself if that's possible, but i tried already a couple of things and none of them works. Anyone an idea how i can remove it?

I was afraid of that, thanks to confirm. Went to the carrier which locked the phone and they said it is illegal to unlock it, which isn't true of course (checked it everywhere and it is legal) I will find a way to fix it with the carrier, thanks for the help.
Hi all,
I am in desperate need of help with this AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 that I found in abroad. Before I get chewed out with accusations of theft, I found the phone in a restaurant and gave to the staff who returned it to me after 3 days an no one had come to claim it.
Anyway, I have been trying to unlock it for use in Canada. I'm a bit of a noob, so please be patient Started with a commercial unlock code to SIM unlock. I received a "successful" message, so I assume it worked. However, I was told that AT&T locks other SIM cards from working on their firmware, so I began to try to flash and install a custom rom. I went to geohot's towelroot page and clicked the lambda. I think it did something. For some reason, I decided it would be a good idea to do factory data wipe from the volume down+power+home recovery screen. Now, I can't get past the initial setup which is asking for my original Samsung login ID, which I obviously don't have. In addition, I can't flash the rom with Odin or install off of external SD card.
Please help!!!
Thanks!
AK

I recently purchased a nexus 6 off ebay, likely a mistake, and now that I try to run the setup i can't because i'm not the original account on the phone. Is there anything I can do to get past this step, remove the old user account and add myself to the phone? I know the security measure was put in for a reason, but it definitely makes it hard when someone like me gets the phone and is now stuck with a good looking paperweight. I have tried contacting the seller and getting them to provide me with their info for the purposes of setting it up but they are reluctant to offer that up. Unsurprisingly.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Fk

I'm sorry but the only way is with that password. This is fault of the seller, they did a factory reset without removing their Google account. If the seller won't help you, contact eBay resolution center.
@fkoulbot,
Unfortunately, plenty of threads here with the same situation.
What @Evolution_Freak said, or open a PayPal claim. Device "Significantly Not As Described". You'll get your money back.
Or, just post it back to him at his expense, and get him to do it properly.
"Hi,
I understand that you feel uncomfortable giving me your Google password. Since the phone is unusable without it, I will have to consider opening a paypal dispute.
To avoid this however, if you offered to cover the cost of 2 way postage of the device (+insurance), I could send the device to you to log into and remove your account properly before resetting and returning to me."

Hey, buddy. I had the same thing happen to me on Swappa. Fortunately the guy was willing to give me his password... BUT in the 2 hours it took him to respond to my dilemma, I had already found a way around it. (Take note that my bootloader was already unlocked when I received the device.) Here's what I did.....
I tried flashing a couple different ROMs to no avail.
Then I realized it was because I was flashing 5.1 ROMs.
So, I found a 5.0.1 ROM that doesn't have the reactivation built in, flashed it, got it set up, then flashed a new 5.1 ROM. It worked for me but YMMV. I do believe having an unlocked bootloader in the first place helped. Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for that info. I had actually received and tried that but because it wasn't unlocked i was stuck. I did get the login info but now worried that they somehow have access to the phone. I noticed the label of a "group" of apps on my home screen was randomly changed. I did DL an antivirus app and it found something but I'm still worried about the security of the phone. Do you happen to have any suggestion on the best thing i can do to absolutely clear any of the old account information etc?

First thing I would do is go into Settings -> Accounts and remove the Google account that it was originally linked on. Then add your own. Do a factory reset, and you should be fine. If you want to go the extra mile, set up the reactivation lock under your account. I do believe that should clear any permissions he may still have as they would be linked to his Google account.

Boot to bootloader.
Fastboot format userdata
(Note that this will wipe everything, including contents of SDcard.
I would lock then unlock bootloader which would wipe the phone and then go to google and download latest builds and flash the phone to factory stock. Boot in, if there isn't anything funky, then I would made a backup of the stock and flash custom ROMs from that point. I like to check first if it works bone stock wiped before tinkering. That way if anything is still wrong with it I know who's at fault.

Well, more likely if it's locked I would just unlock, but yes the act of flashing it to factory images will wipe in one go. Relocking and unlocking is redundant.
Guys does anyone confirm that is any way you can remove the Google Account Lock on Nexus 6 that the previous seller didn't remove the Goggle Account?
Thanks in advance!
Im having the same dang issue!! Hopefully I can get it flashed since sell won't give me password.
Guys,
I bought an immaculate second hand Note 5 for 160 euro/180 dollars/140 pounds including shipping. It comes with the charger and an official Samsung case. It doesn't come with the box or anything else. I won't have it until tomorrow but I'm just trying to get a head start at hopefully fixing it.
Now here's the problem. The guy I bought it from got it from his work place. It was on the Vodafone network but he got it unlocked. He also rooted it. When he went to sell it a couple months back he factory reset it and now it doesn't go past the "Samsung Galaxy Note 5" splash screen. He's had it collecting dust for 3 months now.
Does this sound like it'll be as easy as an ODIN flash? As far as I know if it gets stuck on bootloops or stuck at the splash screen it's soft bricked and not hard bricked.
I've attached pictures if they help at all but I doubt it. Apparently it's a lot cleaner than the pictures and doesn't have a scratch on it. He also guarantees it's not water damaged!
Any help appreciated!
You can easy reflash the original firmware with Odin. It's nothing major.

Wow! You really think that's all? Because it doesn't come with the box I won't have access to the IMEI or serial numbers. Do you think it'll be a problem? I also have no idea what model number it is but ill ask where he got it (he lives in Ireland but I think he works in the UK as we never got the Note 5 here) maybe that'll help narrow it down.

You are in good shape no matter how you approach this because your device is ALIVE. You would need to be worried if nothing showed up on screen (DEAD). That my friend would be hard bricked.

You can return everything to stock except knox. Once knox is tripped its permanent.? And once you boot up any rom, settings will identify imei, model #, etc...

With knox tripped you will lose just the warranty which doesn't matter anyway. Samsung pay is working if you keep stock rom without root. Try to see if you can go in recovery mode with vol up home and power and do a factory reset. Sometimes is resolving the boot problem.

oh cool Samsung pay will work! Awesome sauce!!!
Phone arrived this morning! Here's where I'm at:
The phone model is the n920s, apparently some sort of korean telecomm model.
I was successfully able to boot into recovery mode via volume up, home and power button. I tried wipeing everythiong and rebooting but it doesn't pass the Galaxy Note 5 splash screen. I'm now downloading it's stock firmware and going to try flashing it via odin.
So it seems I haven't completed lucked out after all!
My findings are that it appears to be a bad/blacklisted imei. I know there is paid options to fix this but how likely are they to work?
I also found that when I boot to recovery mode it gives me theses lines in the log;
dm-verity verification failed
need to check drk first
What is this?
Even after flashing the correct n920s package from sammobile via odin I have these lines.
Any help appreciated!
Don't bother with dm-verity verification. You can google and you can see. For IMEI go to www.imeigurus.com. They are very good and they can fix your problem for 35$ include sim unlocking for that amount.

I had a look at that website and I see they don't support my phone which is n920s version. In regards to forgetting about the DRK, I'm pretty sure that's why I can't boot my phone.
Just to clarify for all I seem to have three main problems now;
1 - IMEI is bad/blacklisted (Repairable).
2 - dm-verity verification need to check drk first (Not sure how to fix).
3 - FRP Lock is enabled/on stopping me from installing twrp etc (not sure how to fix).
Phone cannot boot up to enable USB Debug or anything.
Stuck only with recovery mode and ODIN mode.
Just to keep everything in one place for anyone else who has this problem, here is a private message I just sent to 123Unlock over at sammobile.com forums. He is from SRS(Simlock Remote Server) - www.unlocksamsungonline.nl
Hi there,
I've been reading through a lot of websites for the last 7 hours trying to fix a phone that I bought. I was caught in a scam and sold a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 N920S which has a bad/blacklisted IMEI, the FRP lock is enabled/on and the DRK needs to be repaired. The guy who sold it to me said he got it from his work place. He also said he got it unlocked (I don't know what network it was on) and rooted it. Then when he went to sell it he factory reset it and now it's stuck/broken the way it is.
After all my reading it seems like you/your company are the only ones capable of fixing my phone. Could you please help me. I'm obviously willing to pay for the job.
My phone does not boot but I can enter ODIN and recovery modes. For more information here is a thread I started over at XDA - Developers:

Did you flash the stock firmware with Odin? Did you put the firmware in AP section in odin and it was successfully flashed? Sometimes after that it keep staying in boot screen for long time. Just turn it off presing the power key for 10 seconds and turn on again.

I have a SM-A730F (brazilian version, the carrier is Vivo) running stock, never flashed anything on it. I've done a few tries of maintaining this uptime already and never got the OEM Unlock setting to show. Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance

I do already have dev options enabled, but can't see OEM Unlock there. It is not bought from a carrier, I bought it straight from Samsung and can change carrier simply by replacing the SIM card
Factory reset

Will do. Is that the same as a hard reset? This erases all my data, such as pictures and stuff, right?
PS: Found out that my mother's phone, which was bought together with mine and is the exact same model, has an uptime of almost 900 hours and also don't have OEM Unlock available in dev settings. She also have never flashed anything on it.
When it boots up is their any other logo their besides Samsung?
Reset or hard reset is the same do it from stock recovery .

There are 2 Samsung logos. First a still image that says Samsung Galaxy A8+ Powered by Android, then a Samsung splash
That is normal I bought mine from China and been rooted since day one.
If you can't get oem unlock to show ireally don't know what to say.
I did not follow root directions I did it my way.
When you put a Sim card it activates rmm state lock that hides your oem unlock.
You can try a hard rest for 168 hour no reboot and don't disconnect from network if you do you have to start over.
Here is a long shot you can try remove Sim card and do a hard reset and reboot see if you can see oem unlock.
