I got the OTA update and went to youtube to see what new features I could play with and half of the things on the video are not on my phone like the people app and the way it works. I was just wondering if it because I have sence on my phone.

yes, its because sense is different than stock ICS. eventually there will likely be a ROM with stock ICS, but for right now you won't have the people, messaging etc apps like stock ICS.
well I am one of the few (i guess) that likes sence and I will prob stick with it. maybe sence 4.0 will help integrate some more function into it. I really like Beats I know somepeople say you can get the same sound out of a audio program or eq app. but I have yet to find one that gave any where near what i get with beats.

I actually really like sense. That's the main reason why I buy HTC. Coming from the most bland device out there iPhone sense is great.

I actually agree. I think beats is awesome. I don't wanna have to download an equalizer app and tweak settings
Same here. I know there are plenty of people who have a shopping list of reasons why they hate Sense but it really stands out to me. If but for no other reasons I like to use the FM Tuner feature on my phone and the NON-Sensers can't drop an app name that will do that. And sure it will drain battery life but is this device really going to last THAT much longer? Nah. I'm sticking with it.

I find the Zoe function of the Camera very interesting. Don't know yet, if I am going to go for the HTC One so I wonder if the function is portable to other devices (by some crafty XDA-dev)?

Since it is a HTC function, it will probably require the HTC framework etc so I would say unlikely. No one has ever successfully ported the HTC rosie or any HTC app to another ROM without porting the whole thing.
I am sure someone will come up with something similar one day
Sorry to ruin your hope
Hello people, few days ago HTC show the new Sense 5.0 on the HTC One.
what do you think about the new Sense 5.0 interface?
Personally I really like what it see in videos and photos about it..

In my opinion, Sense always looked more mature and "grown-up" (as in more fully developped and complete). Thats why I liked it (plus all the other eye-candy ) But with Sense 5, it looks really cartoonish
Now itd be something entirely different if they really cut down on the resources Sense took up.
I dislike it.
It isn't sense anymore....
they removed the flippy clock, and introduced blinkfeed....
Blinkfeed would have been fine if you could remove it, but no.

Then, would you consider that HTC may give that option to choose what Sense version install on the phone? Well on the 2013 phones of course..., imagine: you buy a HTC One, then it give you the chance to test for a few days what Sense use, after that, your decission will installed forever...

NOPE. WONT BE A CHANCE. Since when do manufacturers give u the chance to install what software ud like before setup and stuff lol.
Does anyone know if there is a rom with stock android AND HTC camera app? Or is it even possible?
If you know of such thing, please do share!
Unfortunately the camera, like most apps, are deeply tied into the framework. If I could get Zoe, highlights and that stuff on AOSP I would switch in a heartbeat.
But in a ray of good news Hugo said that they were working with HTC on a solution... so hopefully the stock Android experience will benefit from Samsung and HTC

Thanks for the reply, I will wait patiently.
But do you think they will comply? I mean, Zoe is one of the selling point of HTC One, I can't imagine they'll give that up.

i dont think so although we will still have the ultrapixel camera
As many of you may know by now, Google rolled out the ability to play 1080p YouTube on 1080p Android devices. However, most Nexus 5s, and countless other 1080p phones don't have this functionality. It's seemingly random, but it isn't. Why, you ask?
Because ONLY Android versions 4.4.2 and L get this luxury. How do I know this? Well, I've tested this on almost half a dozen different Android phones.
Enabling 1080p (and 480p) playback in YouTube is frustratingly simple, and WORKS ON ALL 1080P ANDROID DEVICES WITH YOUTUBE v5.7+!!
So let's get into it! FYI, you need ROOT for this tweak:
First,
------ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR BUILD.PROP BEFORE EDITING IT-----
I'm not responsible if anything goes wrong on your phone. This is dead simple though, and if you create a backup there should be no problems
1: Open your build.prop file, and find this line:
"ro.build.version.release=x.x.x"
(With "x.x.x" being your current Android version number)
2: Then, replace that "x.x.x" with "4.4.2". The line should look exactly like this, (without quotes of course):
"ro.build.version.release=4.4.2"
3: Save, then reboot your phone.
4: Open up YouTube, play a 1080p video, and select 1080p from the resolution menu.
5: Profit
Note that this will make Settings and all other apps think you're on 4.4.2. However, your phone will still be on whatever version you started with (this isn't just gonna magically upgrade your OS XD). In order to revert back to stock (you must temporarily revert back to install OTAs), restore your build.prop backup or simply change "x.x.x" back to what it was before.
--If this helped you please leave a Like and share it with your friends! If you do mention it somewhere, please give me/this thread credit --
EDIT: So far, I've only posted this on here and the OnePlus forums (under the same username).
UPDATE: According to a couple people on the forums, Google has fixed the issue on their side so that you can see 1080p regardless of your Android version. Unfortunately, my only device now (the LG G3) is still on 4.4.2 so I can't test it. Also, I'll leave this guide up in case anyone still has issues

When I had the Developer Preview on my Nexus, 1080p was an option by default, so I couldn't say. There's no reason why it shouldn't work, though

So this also explains why updating to 4.4.3 on the M8 removes the 1080p option. Stupid Google!

Very nice catch
Just to clarify, this is a Google issue? Reason I ask is that would explain why the G3 is beginning to get the 1440p option due to the screen but why haven't Google enabled their own phone? It makes no sense...
I get 1080p without messing with it lol.

Stupid google, what about 4.4.4? as anyone tried that version number, as its basically 4.4.4 anyway, ill gladly add it to build.prop if it works.

4.4.4 isn't on the M8 yet (they say they've rolled the security updates into 4.4.3 but hmmmm) but on my Nexus 5 running 100% stock 4.4.4 I only get 720p (I don't root my phones any more so although this information is good it doesn't help me!)

I tested 4.4.4, 4.4.3, 4.4.2, and 4.4 on the M8 GPE, Z Ultra GPE, and Nexus 5 (L also on the Nexus 5 also). 4.4.2 and L are the only two to receive 1080p/480p YouTube.

Lol weird i wonder why not for 4.4.3/4 so if you want to use it without changing build.prop then you need an modded youtube app right? Nice thread btw i didnt knew about it since i was still using on kitkat the old youtube v4 app. Another thing to do when i have time is looking into the youtube app and maybe find some hidden stuff
I tried this on Mahdi ROM. It just makes the 1080p option show up in the settings, but I cannot switch to it.

This is a glitch on some ROMs (from my understanding you tap it but the bubble doesn't fill in?), but in my experience it does in fact play 1080p, just not fill in the selection in settings. It may be very difficult to notice the shift in resolution, but I'd try pausing on some text and changing it around. If it actually doesn't change, then I'm guessing it's a problem with the ROM (or even theme for CyanogenMod in some cases).
