NEW ML3 Version Out - Galaxy S 4 Active General

Hello everyone,
I went onto the samsung-file website, as I am preparing to update to ML2 with the new root method and I saw an interesting thing:
There was an ML3 version added on Monday for the i537. (http://www.samsung-file.com/index.php?dir=/Model_I/I537_(SGH-I537)/I537_Firmware/I537_Android_4.3)
Anyone know what it is they changed or have played with this at all?
UPDATE: Sorry, I just noticed that it reads "I537UBUBML3_I537TCEBML3_I537UBUBML3" which I interpret is another carrier other than AT&T. But this might still be relevant to someone who has whatever carrier is represented by "CEB."

The carrier is TCE, it's for Telcel in Mexico. I saw the same thing yesterday and got hopeful until I realized what it was.

Lollipop due on S4 active March-April 2015

http://www.theandroidsoul.com/andro...dule-samsung-htc-sony-motorola-manufacturers/
Google announced the Android 5.0 Lollipop a couple of days back and we’re already hearing news from various Android manufacturer partners for their Android 5.0 Lollipop update schedule. Major companies like HTC and Motorola announced their update plans right after a few hours of Google’s announcement, while Sony took a day to announce its update plans.
Just to be clear, the source article states that Samsung has NOT announced any plans to update to Lollipop, and the article goes on to speculate what those dates might be "based on past update cycles". So any of the dates are nothing more than pure guesses anyway. And the "date" given for the S4 Active would be a guess for the non-branded version supplied directly by Samsung. Anything that might or might not come for an AT&T version would come many months later, if at all. Just to be clear. Personally, while it would be fantastic to get Lollipop, I'm not holding my breath...
^_^
didn't get my kitkat update yet and you guys are talking about lolipop .... how sad am i !?
same here no update still on 4.2
I don't know about ota update, but people use official kitkat around 6 months. Install update via odin and job is done.

Wait---you received "Lollipop"? If so, care to share some links?
Nevermind----It looks like a slim chance. I'll be sticking with my trusty Optimus pro for now.

Yeah and if you actually read that, that release is for the i9295, not the i537. Don't confuse people
Is here only for i537?

Lollipop has been available for the international model (i9295) for months, it's called Cyanogenmod 12. The only people in this forum unable to use lollipop are those with the U.S. model (i537). Along with the fact that the title of that thread you linked to has the actual model number in its title (and the firmware build number does too), I'm not entirely sure what rebuttal you just failed to articulate, but I'd wager it's inaccurate.

Firstly, this thread never implied its about the us variant i537, so his rebuttal was very accurate.
Secondly, The official Lollipop release only came a couple of days ago for the i9295, which is clearly what the OP of the thread begun talking about. Many people in this forum were unable to use lollipop as not many people count a port of Cyanogenmod stable enough to use daily.
Hope that helps you understand this thread better =)
any danger from manual update?
Hi friends. Sure most of you knows about the official 5.0.1 update for S4active which released for nordic countries on sammobile.
I am sill on 4.2.2 in Saudi arabia. My question is : should i update manually to kitkat firstly befor i install lollipop? And is there any dangers for updating my phone to this European update?
Attached my phone info and the update info

I have an unlocked AT&T GS4 Active that I'm currently using through MetroPCS. I still have an AT&T sim card. If I put the AT&T sim card back in the phone, would I have the ability to get the Android 5.0 update? I assume the answer is No as the AT&T sim is not provisioned, but would the sim allow me to get the update over the air? Do all carriers look at the make, model, build # and carrier of all devices to make sure the phone is compatible? I'm assuming if this doesn't work, rooting is the only way. Also, since I have service through MetroPCS, will they update to Lollipop once available or does my model number, SGH-i537, make them think I have AT&T ( and will not update software for the phone )?
Does having an unlocked phone prevent software updates specifically when the phone was made for one carrier only ( AT&T Active )?
Will MetroPCS automatically push software updates to all their customers or to just those that have an approved device from Metro?

You need to have an active AT&T sim card to get the update automatically. MetroPCS nor any other carrier will never provide updates to an AT&T phone. This is similar to asking if Honda will upgrade the engine of your Ford truck, it's never going to happen. Your only option is to update the phone manually using the guides provided in this forum.

Just got an update. What changed?

I just got an update this morning to my US model running the UK firmware. How do I know what changed? I don't see anything different. Is there a version log showing the changes somewhere?
Perhaps there are some answers in the New OTA 47.1.A.2.374 thread

Has anyone tried installing N950W firmware on N950U1?

I bought an unlocked US phone and was going to give it to my dad who lives in Canada (and uses rogers).
I was thinking about installing the 950W Rogers firmware to get all of the carrier-specific features like volte, wifi calling/sms, etc. Alternatively, maybe I could just install the CSC?
Has anyone tried this?

To answer my own question: it seems to work just fine. Followed this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/how-to/guide-sm-n950u-u1-t3685884
to switch my carrier to rogers (RWC), then installed the latest 950W rogers firmware from here: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?q=N950W&exact=1

Question about flashing firmware from a different region

Hey guys,
I've been up and down the forums looking for answers and come out thoroughly confused, so thought it would be best to ask for help from the professionals.
I am in New Zealand and have recently purchased an imported S10 from the states (site never said it was imported, would have gone local had I known), model SM-G973U. I've since realised that the phone will not update, and has been stuck on the June security patch since I got it. Contacted Samsung NZ and they said that because the phone isn't approved by my local carrier (Spark) no updates are getting pushed through.
I've thought of flashing a Spark-based version of the phone so I can receive updates but because the local versions of this phone are a different model (SM-G973F) I'm worried whether this will even work or if it will brick my phone entirely.
Is this something I can safely do, or will I have to resort to flashing updates manually?
Thanks guys, these forums really are great.

Hi dude,
Don't try to update your G973U with a G973F firmware coz SoC of those devices are different ! Your model has a snapdragon but G973F (international S10 version) has an Exynos (Samsung made chipset).
What you can do if you really want to update it is to download this firmware and flash it through latest Odin (google or youtube this if you don't know how to proceed).
P.S. Firmware I linked here is the USA unbranded one, idk really know if this CSC will support your local carrier so make a backup of your device before processing !
Hey sorry I've been too caught up in life to try this until now, but I gave that firmware a go, flashed it with the latest odin and it's worked without a hitch, carrier settings intact and all.
Thanks for the guidance!

Trying to update Galaxy Note 9 to Android 10

I bought a new Galaxy Note 9 online about a month ago (which I'm slowly starting to regret because of this issue), and I'm trying to upgrade it to Android 10. However, the Model Number and the Baseband version says SM-N960F/DS and N960NKOU3ASG1. After searching online for a while, I found a forum post from here two months that talks about my exact problem: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/help/help-android-10-update-note-9-t4047729 which basically says to flash the firmware via Odin.
However, I'm having some doubts of whether it is the correct firmware of not, though this could be due to having problems with Sammobile for a long time. When I talked with one of the admins of Sammobile, he said that my phone has a "Custom ROM"/"Modded firmware" and to ask "the procedures on XDA where you downloaded the Custom Rom from "Ketan"... " This is the forum discussion I had with him, along with images of my phone showing the software info: https://www.sammobile.com/forum/threads/45917-download-link-for-firmware-not-working
If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it

So yours is N960N?
mixed firmware
According to the Sammobile admin, I have mixed firmware, N960F & N960N
Model Number: SM-N960F/DS
Baseband Version: N960NKOU3ASG1
Build Number: N960FXXS3CSFC_Dr.Ketan_P13_XDA
and then Service Provider SW ver says SAOMC_SM-N960F_OXM_BRI_PP_0014 ...
edit: sorry for the late response, noone responded for a while, so was busy with other matters
It flashed with a custom rom. I have seen so many F versions with this issue. You should be able to factory reset then use Phone Info app. Do a refurbishment check with the app and also check what firmware. Find out what model and region..get the firmware and flash with odin. Whenever I have purchased a device off line I always ask seller to send a pic of the software screen.

I'll do the factory reset tomorrow, its getting late in my time, and I have to sleep early cause I work as retail morning shift.
The app that you're talking about is Phone Info, made by uax.io correct? The phone I'm sure is brand new because I remember discussing it with my sister and talking about just getting a brand new phone and not wanting to deal with returning it due to the current pandemic situation. The big problem I seem to have is that I'm not sure exactly what firmware I should use, since the Sammobile admin said my phone is using a mix.
