Thanks for that. Is there a specific guide or software tool for that? I don't like doing this process through command line.

At this time downgrade is not possible.
Well that sucks...
Does anybody know if Hboot 2.0 can be unlocked though HTCDev website?
Unlocked 2.00.0000 via HTCDEV today. It's ok, i've installed recovery using image from 4ext, using next command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img,
and then successfully installed root from this recovery.
But there is some changes in this HBOOT and i can't install any custom rom via this recovery. And recovery does not update using 4extRecoveryUpdater, only using fastboot.
Now i have UNLOCKED HBOOT 2.00.0000, 4EXT Recovery Touch (i've backupd my off ROM and it can be restored if any problems - that works), Superuser app.

Does this new hboot allow you to flash the boot/recovery partitions from recovery? It's really annoying how 1.16 doesn't allow you to do that as I wouldn't have had a reason to downgrade and S-OFF if it unlocked everything properly.
If someone with locked boot 2 could try my downgrade guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373697 and report back if there's any problems it would be very helpful in creating a workaround if it's necessary.

You need to unlock boot loader by using htcdev.com and get a full root access(flash recovery and superuser), then use misc_version to patch partition 17.

The latest version of SuperOneClick v 2.3 has the ZergRush root exploit which has worked on other HTC unlocked HBoots to root the system. You may want to give that a try.

You should flash CWM or 4EXTRecovery to flash superuser binary and the apk file. Then use adb to copy the misc_version to /data/local/tmp and run it.

I just tried doing this, but I am getting an error when I try to flash the stock recovery. It just says "(status 6) Installation aborted." I'm using CWM Recovery, should I maybe try using TWRP instead or should that not matter?

Maybe check if others have flashed it correctly, as I didn't test it and maybe you can't flash a stock recovery in a custom one
Confirmation
Hi,
I've just installed this recovery to my HTC ONE 32GB VODAP001.
My method was to extract the recovery.img from the zip file and flash via fastboot (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img)
worked fine - no issues, boots to the phone picture with a green arrow.
Hope that helps.

EDIT: My previous recovery was TWRP 2.6.0.1

Sorry to bring this thread back...
For anyone still trying to update to 4.2.2 on a rooted phone here are the steps I took to do it.
1.Flash stock recovery (link earlier in thread)
2.Update
3.Reflash your custom recovery (I used TWRP)
4.Reinstall superuser
That should be it

Flashed stock recovery
Thanks! Now hopefully I can get the latest HTC Google Edition OTA update. Clockworkmod rejected the latest one: JWR66Y
Noob question: What does the stock recovery actually do?
I havn't unlocked bootloader yet, and accidentially started stock recovery from the bootloader screen and started to panic when an image with a red triangle was shown for what seemed like ages. Fortunately the phone booted up normally, but I wonder what I actually did?
BTW how does OTA update work, how to get it?

All I know is I flashed the Google Edition ROM on my HTC One in July (was T-Mobile Sense version). 2 days ago I got an OTA notification for an Android 4.3 update (JWR66Y). I couldn't install it because I had Clockworkmod as a custom recovery. My hope is that with this stock recovery I can receive this OTA update fine. I haven't gotten the notification yet, so I don't know if it'll work. If it does work, then I'll be ready for Google Edition Kit Kat in October.

This method works:
Go to Settings > Apps (or Applications) and select show All. Then find Google Services Framework and click the Clear Data button. Then click the Force Stop button. Then go to Settings > About phone > System updates
The stock recovery also worked! I was able to get an OTA update and install it on HTC One which I turned into a Google Edition (originally a T-Mobile with Sense). Now with JWR66Y.H1. Just let the phone do its thing. It takes a while and there are no real status messages. It'll reboot a few times. Don't worry it works. Just be patient.
I think the same method will work when Kit Kat comes out in October.
I am not rooted, I have S-off, and I didn't change model or carrier IDs. I still received the OTA update.

You will backuping the stock recovery for?
Because if you won't root the phone and flash a custom recovery, you never won't lose the stock recovery.
However, yes, you can, but this don't have a lot of sense.
You will lose your warranty for a backup of the stock recovery?

Thanks mate. As a lot of people also access xda via tapatalk on their mobile devices, it makes it so much easier to offer help when specific info about a problem is provided which is not always visible in the app. So, for example in your case:
International One, TWRP 2.6.3.0 S-On/S-Off currently running XXX ROM trying to flash XXX ROM
And right away it is clear that you need to update your recovery.
