Port past Sense builds to HTC one? - Sprint HTC One (M7)

I thought I would post this just out of curiosity and open up the discussion, has anybody ever tried to build a kernel that would support port development on past sense builds?

As far as i know the kernels and drivers will not allow back porting, especially touchscreen driver, so if someone wants to port a previous sense version, say sense 3.0, the developer would have to edit alot of files in order for the phone to accept the flash and even then there's no guarantee that the phone will be operational after due to touchscreen drivers. That why you wont be seeing any backports on this device and countless others but there are a few devices that have back ports.

I wanna see some cupcake action on this thing.... But I'll settle for a donut!

I seem to remember someone around these forums talking about trying to port old school Windows Mobile 6.5 to the GSM One. Haven't seen anything about the project being finished though.

Windows mobile is closed source and licensed so even if he was able to port it he wouldn't be allowed to upload it for the public

Check out the Development section, count the sub-versions of each ROM found there, and you'll get to several hundreds of them.
Or just consider it one big OS called Android, in its variations. That will also be closer to the truth.
Personally, I run Windows 7 on my Nexus one.
Oh, you were serious?
Bro, every "flavor" of Android is still Android. One Operating system, different versions or "builds" or whatever they're called.

those are the mains ones right now, and of course dont forget to include stock but rooted ROM, like modaco ROM. then there are many variations of cyanogen broken off and customized to make their own ROM.
last year there were many more ROMs, so it has died down a little. but generally its still very strong ROM community for the n1.
no other OS's work except android OS and all its flavors.

Ics sdk port

I'm seeing a lot of devices getting ics sdk ports or atleast starting to(in pre alpha stage) I was wondering if anyone wanted to attempt that on our d3s because it doesn't look like we're getting cm9 soon because were not even officially supported for cm7.

The Nexus will be out before the month's end, and the source code will drop in the following 2-4 weeks. If someone built it from SDK, they'd have to start it all over again after the source drops.
ya but that means source wont drop till xmas and then by the time someone has a working build moto will be releasing there official build so it doesnt really do anything for us

If Motorola ever actually pushes out an ICS update for us, it'll be at the very earliest the end of next spring. They have newer and "better" phones that they'll update first.

It might be a fun exercise, and fun to play around with, but sdk ports are buggy and wont have the framework that really makes up ICS. It would basically GB + some ICS features/apps, since all we have access to is some apps and what they ask for

I hope no one is wasting time working on a port from a Software Development Kit (SDK) emulator "ROM" that is incomplete and lacking. SDK's are for app developers to test, not for ROMs to be be made.
Once the source hits....you'll have a better chance of getting ICS, AND a much better and complete ROM.
I really hope no one is working on an SDK port "ROM" for the D3.

This.
The current devs we have are still working on the roms they first put out. We will not get an SDK port. We'll start to see ICS when the source is released.

Just to be clear, I'm not working on an ICS port from the SDK. Sorry :/
While I applaud jellydroid13's enthusiasm, there is still alot of work to be done getting the D3 to be more AOSP friendly. This includes working on getting the audio drivers working correctly, BT updated, overlays which don't have PBUNDERUN events every 30 seconds, camera routines to iron out, etc.
Fixing these issues in Gingerbread where our kernel matches up with the source, gives us a better chance at then migrating working source to a true ICS port later.
There is also a fairly sizable kernel hurdle to jump as well.
Just my 2-cents.

If you're referring to the anthrax kernel by chad. He is banned because he won't make his kernel source public which is required by gpl.
As for eternity project it may work but if its the 3.4 kernel forward port of his then its not something I'm likely going to do. Would take more than a couple full days of programming and debugging to get a full 3.4 kernel working on our device. Even at that it would probably only work with asop.

While you are correct, requesting things is kind of a douchebag move unless the dev specifically says it's okay. The developers are giving up their free time to give us these ROMs and we should be happy with whatever they're capable/willing to invest time on.

Rom Port Request Thread

Hey, guys! I'm making this thread because I will continue to port roms, but only if it is requested. As you can see I've been on a porting spree but now I want you guys to let me know what rom to port (if any). My ports are solely made to provide the experience of a rom until the owner/dev team of that rom officially supports us. All requests that I post will now be permitted by the owner/s. If I am not allowed, i will let you know here.
So if there is a rom you would like ported, leave a comment and I (and perhaps xcoNjA) will do my best to bring it for you. Thanks guys - Michael
****The rom needs to have the same resolution as the S4 and also an arm7 processor...might be able to do it with an arm6 but yeah (so basically, any rom that works on a different S4 I can almost guarantee it can be ported****

Thanks again for all the ports. I think I'm less interested in new ports and more interested in the stability of the ones we already have, And don't get me wrong. They're running great already. At this point, if we're able to get 3g and 4g, along with mms working like a stock rom, then I will definitely use them as daily drivers.

Josh will never let that one fly.
I know this is asking a TON, but Firefox OS would be absolutely awesome to try on this phone. Mozilla has some documentation on how to build it, but I am not advanced enough quite yet.
Not really expecting data to work, of course. Just a proof of concept and actually trying it on phone software would be awesome.
Then again, I could be completely off base and it could be impossible to flash like you would an android ROM. Who knows.
