The only way to fix a proximity delay problem is to root your phone and then edit the build.prop file by adding these exact two lines (or editing them to these values if they already exist):
mot.proximity.delay=25
ro.lge.proximity.delay=25
If you aren't keen on rooting, I'm not aware of another solution..
here's a thread on how to edit build.prop:

yes, the same on any android. just be very careful cause build prop contains sensitive settings, don't touch anything else, you might get a bootloop.

I think its some kinda flashing error. Try reflashing firmware meant for your phone model no. but first go to recovery and wipe data and cache. After flashing also wipe data and cache. I guess it would be good. But if that also doesn't help then it would be a bug on the firmware. Try changing the firmware to a latest one...

It looks like Sony messed it up again after it was prevalent in arc. The below video shows how the pinch to zoom works jerky and doesn't work properly at times. To better illustrate,
* I have zoomed in using default Album app
* Used QuickPic as well
* Zoomed in a website in Chrome
In all cases, the zoom doesn't work. It simply doesn't record my gestures properly. Many of the users have reported in the issue, I'm hoping myself that it's a firmware issue. But as time passes, it makes me think that my panel is faulty as well. Please report or suggest guys. If you haven't tried this yet, then please do across all apps which this zooming feature.
Steps taken:
* Ran Xperia Diagnostics app.
* Full repair in PCC and also in FT as well.
Note: The video is hefty at 78 megs, sorry in order to show you how clearly it was misbehaving, I couldn't compromise on quality. Please do watch.
Box link: https://app.box.com/s/mas3tj8gvaqctn19dq1n
Update: It's a hardware issue. Gave my device for replacement today.
I to have the problem..and other peoples i asked on xda said that its working perfectly so dnt know is it software based or hardware based..waitng for the software updates other wise will go to the service centre and get it replaced

Hmm have to say not come across this issue, pinching and zooming is fine for me. Things that you can try: Update the phone to the latest firmware to rule that out, if you still have an issue then it is a hardware fault with your panel, i really do hate how people are so quick to bash Sony. Things like this happen, hardware faults do occur from time to time, get a replacement if that is the case, warranty should cover it.

They will and they should. I was told that if Z1 was bought a week back or within a week, they will replace the entire kit (box). As mine's 2 weeks old, I'll get the device only it seems. They've quoted me a max of 3-5 days. They told me that I'll also get a backup phone after 2 days.

Do you know what? When I gave the device, the issues I mentioned were the zoom and yellow hue issue. The rep didn't agree with the hue issue although he agreed with the zoom issue. But after he started using the device, two additional issues were found. SoD and random reboot. My Z1 started rebooting randomly.Phew, I gave it at last. The problem sheet of my Z1 has four issues in total now.

Same, same same!!! I had the same issue too after disabling it. Don't worry. A few reboots should do. Also you can leave as it is for some time then try again. If not, then start the device - Power off using the red colored switch present in the SIM card slot. Reboot again.

My phone's diaplay has turned pink.But when I press the home button to open task manager then the area behind recent apps dialog box becomes as it should be.
So please anyone could tell me if it could be repaired or the screen is to be changed!
Thanks in advance
Hmmm. This is interesting.
Did this just suddenly happen or did something happen to it, eg. Did you flash a rom/kernel or did to get submerged in water etc
If it did get submerged in water, its likely a hardware fault
Try flash in Sempahore GB, that has Voodoo colour, and see if that changes anything - if not, its likely a hardware fault

Follow what @Soryuu said to do. In my opinion, if this is a hardware issue (display to be changed), then you better buy a used phone as it costs equal to the display. Or you may use it as your secondary phone and buy a new quad core phone

Maybe a hardware issue like that:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2529205
but if there's something wrong with the display then why the area behind the recent dialog box ok

Check that the display flex cable is properly seated. Or see if you can tune it out with colour calibration.

Right after I updated my Z1 (via OTA) to latest KitKat 4.4.2 ,, I started to notice a bug with ringing.
at the times the volume will be on the level that I have set and sometimes it will just ring on the lowest possible level of sound (despite the fact that the ringtone volume is set to maximum)
Is there a solution to fix this ?
Thanks
