Clock drags - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
My M7 has been rooted with the latest Google Edition RUU on it.
Ever since I first my rooted the phone, I've always had a problem where the clock drags (by up to +40 minutes if I leave it after 15 minutes).
I've been using ClockSync with works no problem.
But it's getting annoying that I can't rely on my phone's time if I'm somewhere with no data coverage or have to turn off data.
Would anybody know a possible fix or at least cause?
Or is there something I can reset?
I've pushed different recoveries before and it seems to have made no difference..

FRF91 update is buggy

After updating to FRF91, I notice two things.
1) My phone froze at least 3 times since the update when I tried to make a phone call. I had to remove the battery and restart it.
2) My calls are now less clear even with my blue-tooth. When I call someone, they and I will hear static. Sometimes the static is really bad. (no, I am not holding it the wrong way )
Anyone have similar issues?
My Nexus One is NOT rooted.
stock 2.1 to FRF50(manual install)->FRF83(manual install)->FRF91(OTA install)
No issues here. Clean install.
I would agree it seems buggy to me also; it could be the manual update path of updating, but im def getting some wonkyness.
When im on edge at my house, it always seems like WIFI is on demand and not connected (This differs from what my phone used to do and i also have wifi to never sleep); so when i try to access something intially i get a network error then the Wifi connects; then i connect even though im on edge which used to connect albeit slow.
A slight jerkiness when I longpress to remove widgets; don't remember that one previously.
Very erratic battery life; seems to be due to network switching from 3g to edge to wifi; can't really confirm that though; not real rogue apps on my device that are running, but who knows.
Car dock has been giving some force close issues from time to time which didn't really occur previously.
FRF83 more stable
I was thinking of trying to go back to FRF83 as that seems more stable.
I will first try to do a factory reset and see what happens after that.

let me know how that works out; I may do the same. Maybe go back and ota update.
I applied the full FRF85B when I did mine, and wiped cache / format user data from the boot loader. That cleared up issues.
gmail stopped working properly for me.
I have had some issues with my phone freezing up too but my trackball would still flash when i got alerts. I think it might be related to trackball alert because now that I have uninstalled it i haven't gotten any freezes.
I did the factory reset and I no longer have any problems. I am still waiting to see if my dialing still freezes randomly though.

I'm still on frf83 and found that flashing the frf91 gapps has somewhat reduced the freezes/reboots.
My XDA app freezes for a couple of seconds before it responds. Is this app up to date for frf91?

1. Going into Gmail it takes forever to display emails (usually shows the "loading icon" for 10-20 seconds) as if it is only then connecting to the server and downloading new/old emails.
2. Caller ID still does not keep settings when rebooting.
3. Task Managers don't actually seem to kill tasks anymore. Have tried multiple with settings to auto-kill 10 minutes after the screen goes off ... 5 hours later the programs are still running. Obviously just KILLS battery life.

Yeah, obviously, you're using auto-kill, it probably tries over and over and over when they don't actually close.
Stop using auto-kill. Even if it worked you will get less battery life by killing tasks. Read up about it. Only reason to EVER kill something is if it isn't acting nicely and has a bug that keeps using CPU or keeps the phone awake.
Factory Reset works almost all the time
If you got problems after update you should allways wipe (factory reset)

[Q] Galaxy Note not waking up?

I can't put my finger on this issue I've been having with my Note.
Don't get me wrong, this device is a godsend!
The problem I've been having is that sometimes when I take my Note out of my pocket and try to press the unlock or menu button it doesn't show anything on the screen. I've read about people having issues with delay before it pops up, but it doesn't pop up even after 10 seconds or a minute, it feels like the device 'hangs' or doesn't want to wake up. The only way I can turn the phone on again is by pressing the unlock button for like 10 seconds and the phone reboots.
I thought it was a problem with Green Power, I thought it maybe had issues turning off the wifi or data when the screen was locked and that the service would cause the OS to crash or 'hang'. When I look at my battery history after the reboot it shows that I lost a significant amount of battery (5-15%, depending on how long it took for me to 'discover' the crash) and there's a 'jump' in the graph.
Things I've tried:
Stock rom - problem persists
Different kernels - tried all the kernels available in the market including stock, problem persists
Add a bit of paper between back-cover and battery (to make sure it doesn't lose contact)
Checked if there was dust between battery connections
Tried different sim card
Tried disabling wifi and data all day (mysteriously persists)
DIfferent governors (ondemand and interactive) (the phone reverts to default governor after the forced reboot, normal? i have my phone set to interactive on boot, but somehow it skips that after the forced reboot)
I've attached a picture of the battery graph. According to the stats there's a 25 minute gap where the phone was 'stuck' and you can see that the screen was on and active for that duration.
There are NO funny apps running in the background, this is is a clean install with some standard Samsung apps frozen.
tl;dr version: phone randomly won't wake up; battery loss after forced reboot;
I might have found the issue myself. Now when I come to think of it, I think it always occurs after I've been in my car for like a 30 min drive... Maybe the phone is having trouble switching networks? Anyone know what might be causing this?
Or better yet, how can I research this issue? Can I enable some logging somewhere to track this?
I had the note for about 10 days and today, about 1 hour ago it happened to me for the first time. I tried the home button to wake the screen but nothing, tried the power , nothing and holding the power but nothing happened. I had to pull the battery.
I had this problem in the beginning, but no more.
It's one of two things, in my case. Restoring apps (with data) from Titaium backup, or SetCPU or both. Do a factory reset, reinstall apps without data. If using setCPU, disable it for a while to see if it happens again. It's been over a week and the problem is gone.

I was using System Tuner instead of SetCPU to freeze apps and change governor, maybe I've just been using the wrong app? I deleted it just in case. Will see if the problem persists, thanks!
The nasty thing about it is that it seems to happen randomly (but it most likely doesn't) and is pretty rare (happens once every 3 days).
Still, I don't like the fact of not being available for X amount of time, even if it's 30 minutes.
I'm on stock room and unrooted. Like I said first time it's happened.
i've had the GNote since 4 days now , and yesterday same thing happened as the device was in my pocket and i couldnt wake it up at all , battery pull solved it.
im on stock , non rooted
I can't believe that we are the only ones with this issue. Anyone else? OR better yet, how did you resolve it?
Dont know if this is the same issue as the streak had, but with the streak if you kept it your pocket with the screen facing your body this would sometimes happen. Flipping it so that it that the screen doesnt face your body in your pocket solved this issue.

Thanks for your reply. I did some research, and apparently it had to do with static being built up in the screen from wearing it towards your body in your pocket.
This issue was that you couldn't swipe the lockscreen cause the touch screen wouldn't respond. The problem we are having is that the screen won't even turn on and that the system locks up.
Same issue here with my 2 days old Galaxy Note, that's how I found this forum. In my case it went from not waking up occasionally to every time WIFI was ON (I did some experimenting with settings to see which one could be the one causing the problem). But then...occasionally it would not wake up even with WIFI OFF: very annoying. And this is my first Android, so I didn't have any custom anything, pretty much same as out of the box when I got it The only solution was to reset the handset. And definitely has nothing to do with having it in my pocket as I don't carry it in my pocket. Rang Samsung, they told me it was faulty, I returned it. Now I'm concern the next one is going to have screen issues? As so many people complain in this forum? we'll see.
My issues have been resolved after flashing AbyssNote 1.4 and when I stopped using System Tuner. I've started using Voltage Control instead and now I'm not even having problem @ 100Mhz undervolted 50mV from stock.
Same problem with my wife's Gnote, totally stock, just a small handful of apps installed. Happened twice, about a week apart.
She does a lot of travelling, maybe you're right about that. But it happens after she gets home when it's still OK.
Had the same same issue twice in two days and had to do a battery pull, just did a master reset and re -installed the applications manually, so far so go.
YOu guys think its a hardware or a software issue?
Hmm.. Happened to me too about three times in the last two weeks. I am on stock rom but rooted, and running Green Power. Hopefully samsung will fix it in the next updates. Seems like a software bug to me. Maybe not enough juice when in deep sleep?

Hello
its the problem of your kernel. try Abyys 1.4 and use XDA Superpower to adjust the CPU-Frequency automatically

It's very well possible that the stock kernel has faulty settings for the CPU. Haven't had the problem again with AbyssNote 1.4 and Voltage Control (even with custom cpu frequencies)
I just got my note today.

and hasnt since stopped...

at this point we're just guessing, there haven't been any official confirmations of the problem as far as i know.
But if it's so accute that it keeps happening all the time you must have a faulty device.. call samsung ?

[Q] Heavy clock drift even on manual time?

I'm not sure what's slowing it down (though am using a custom GE rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341395)) but sometimes I leave it for 15 minutes and the clock can be out by 40+ minutes!
This wouldn't be a problem if I could just turn off auto date and time zone, and just set the time manually, but even STILL - same problem :S
And that seemed to be the common solution from what ive read with for other HTCs (that and power on and off).
I know there is ClockSync but I really want to see if there is a fix for the problem without having to add another widget just to account for an error.
Anybody else with a similar problem? Any solutions?
Have you been moving in excess of .9c or spent a lot of time in a gravity well (black hole, neutron star, Chris Christie, etc...)?

OK, thanks.. -_-

First unsuspected reboot

Just had my first forced reboot this morning. Cant really believe it happened since im not running a custom rom. Onlything ive done of running the phone for 2 days has been rooted it with PwnMyMoto, installed Xposed\MotoXposed, and froze MyATT and Visual Voicemail apps with Titanium Backup.
I have pretty much The same setup and i had one reboot and im sure it was from zooper widget ...never happend again since i uninstalled it

Also had 1 reboot while checking a very long email chain in Gmail with lots of embedded images. I'm pretty sure Android does this as a safeguard when the system is overloaded in some way. Don't think it's an issue.
Had one while poking at Greenify. No issues since that point and I've poked at Greenify plenty.
Random reboots have been a thing since my first Android phone. Hasn't gone away since.
Just noticed my first random reboot. Phone was sitting on my desk sleeping then it randomly rebooted.
Barely installed any apps, running stock rom unrooted unlocked.
I've had this issue with my Samsung phones in the past, too.
Is this something I'll just need to live with? Is it a software or hardware issue?
Had one while on call yesterday
I get reboots in my vehicle all the time. At first I thought it was Drive assist or whatever so I disabled that. Turns out my Bluetooth is the culprit. I can't really narrow down what specifically makes it happen, but it only reboots when I'm in the car. I expect it now and wait for it. Annoying.
I've had 2 random reboots so far, unfortunately this is a somewhat common issue that should be improved after an update or two.

Marshmallow issues

I have been on Marshmallow since the official release this past Friday. I am no rooted, never was on this phone. Phone is completely OE.
I have noticed a few issues and gripes.
1) No more volume control for just notifications. They are now controlled in with the ringer volume. To me, that sucks.
2) Smartlock is not working properly. I have to enter my password to unlock my phone 80% of the time in locations where it should be unlocked. (Home and work)
3) Where are the Doze settings?? I have looked all over for Doze and do not see it. Did T-Mobile decide not to include it?
4) I will find out for sure tonight, but when my battery got low the last 2 days, I lost LTE, was on 2G, and no wifi calling. Basically I had a phone that worked but was a paperweight. I do know there was an outage last night, I am hoping thats all it was, but I do notice my phone running slower and harder connections at lower battery levels.
4) Apps just stop working. I have to clear out my recent apps, and reboot my phone to get apps to work. Chrome wont load pages, Facebook wont load more than 20 (est) updates, news apps (local and CNN) wont refresh or load.
If anyone has had the same issues or maybe a fix, please help! Thanks in advance.
