Hey guys, here's a case I recently ordered which looks quite nice. Nothing fancy, but it looks slim enough to do this tablet justice! If anyone has seen anything else out there, please share!

It would be nice if you post a few photos and your opinion once you've received it.

Yep, will do!
So my Krusell Malmö Tablet Case just arrived. I have had several cases for various tablets and phones in the past and this is probably one of the better ones I've had. I always have a case for my phone/tablet because I want to keep my devices in the best condition possible but unfortunately, it also covers up their original appearance. Good thing about this case is that when open, it still exposes the majority of the tablet allowing you to show off how thin the tablet is to your friends without having to take the tablet out
The buttons are all exposed as are the ports except for the MicroSD card port (and I guess also the SIM port for the 4G owners), but then again, I doubt you'd need to remove it that often.
The tablet wedges itself tightly into the two corner brackets on the upper and bottom right side of the case (when portrait). The fit is very tight so you won't need to worry about the tablet falling out.
It also allows two different standing modes. You can either fold the cover backwards similar to the iPad cover:
or you can lay the cover flat on the table:
I prefer the second option because it feels a bit more stable and there are many more angle possibilities. You won't need to worry about the tablet sliding because the inside of the cover will provide enough resistance. Speaking of which, the inside of this cover feels really nice and velvety and will help keep your screen in great condition.
It also wakes/locks the tablet when you open and close it. Overall, I am very satisfied with this case. It's pretty much as thin as they come but still very sturdy and solid at the same time. Highly recommended! By the way, the pictures make it look a little grey but I can assure you that the case is as black as the tablet

I wonder how this compares to the one from Sony, since they are the same price

This one is actually about 9 pounds cheaper But yeah, it would be nice to have a comparison. I think they both perform all the same functions (stand angles, magnetic cover) so it would be a close match.

Looking at the pictures, so only my assumption which can be wrong, it looks like the Krusell case folds a little bit over the front of the screen where the Sony Office does not seem to do that as much.

Do you mean the brackets holding the tablet in place covers up more of the bezel than the Sony Cover? You're probably right about that. The Sony one looks like it's clicked into the four corners whereas the Krusell one is wedged into two corner brackets. It's really minimal though and doesn't cover the screen up at all and I hardly notice it.
EDIT: A friend of mine just bought the official case and it seems that the Krusell one is a tiny bit thinner. The reason for this I think is because the official Sony one basically has an extra inner layer underneath the tablet (which allows it to have 4 corner attachment points compared to Krusell's two). Not sure if I'm making any sense But if you look at my pictures, you'll see that when standing, the bottom of the tablet is resting against nothing whereas the official Sony one is resting against another layer. Wish I took some pictures...we were too busy Shadowgun

After trying several cases for my Nexus 7, knowing there aren't any specifically for the Nexus 7 at any retail stores, this was the best one I've come across. It will hold me over until an official case comes out (I've kept the receipt so I can return it). I just can't have such an awesome piece of tech sitting around without a case and without the ability to use it as a stand for viewing. The leather is genuine and the case is simply gorgeous. I love the way if holds the tablet without the clamps/rubberized holding mechanism actually rubbing or touching the bezel. All ports are accessible while it is in the case and the power/volume buttons are very easily accessible.
Found it at Fry's this morning on the way to work but it will set you back $59.99. One of the best portfolio stand cases I've ever owned for any of my devices. High end.

None, which is hard to say about most cases. I've always had something I've disliked about a case but have dealt with it. I've also always went for the cheaper the better in the past. This case is truly a "you get what you pay for" case. The way it holds the very edges of the tablet is my favorite part. It looks like it is floating in the case and the parts that hold the tablet in place never really become part of the view. The access to all buttons and inputs as well as the quality of the leather are great. The actual stand aspect allows for infinite viewing angles and never feels cheap, like the stand portion is going to collapse at any moment.
This case looks really nice. I personally want a colored case though and not the standard brown/black. Also, I'd rather pay a bit more for a case that I really like and thats going to last me a while then buy a cheap case that I'm not that into, deciding that Im not satisfied with it and having to buy more. So if I see something that I fall in love with then I don't mind pulling the trigger as long as its not 100+

Nice. It fits perfectly? Usually cases with the plastic clips are pretty picky about what they'll work with. If so, I'm thinking about buying one of these gtab 2 7.0 cases and adding a "smart cover" magnet to it.

I just pulled the edges on the 4 rubber ends out slightly, if that makes sense, and when the tablet was in place, they wrapped perfectly around each corner of the tablet. It takes a tiny bit of "fitting", but once it's on, it's all good.

Sexy! The case too!
Thanks for sharing, that case looks made to order on the Nexus 7. :good:
How about the speaker in the back, is it covered or are there holes for it?
There are no holes for the speaker. I did a test at max volume and I have no idea why but it sounds louder with it in the case then out of the case. It could be the way it's configured with the speaker near flush but with a decimeter or so gap. I know with my phones and tablets that they tend to sound louder when they are angled near a wall and I seem to get the same effect with this case.

Okay. My point is that it's less than a centimeter. Maybe a millimeter or so. Enough tiny space to actually amplify the sound

People on other threads have been linking to Cases listed on Amazon and Ebay with that very similar look (they probably all use the same stock photos) with prices ranging from $10 to $20. Even cheaper.

I don't know, may be not the same quality but it's hard to judge from photos, or even the prizes.
Only way to judge is hand-on experience like the OP's case, his case looks good also because when the back holds on to four corners only, whereas these ones are a bit 'uneven' (when viewed in portrait mode) : p
I would perfer something that holds on to the edges of Nexus 7 only, like the Official Case or this:

Here's the case:

It has all of the correct cutouts. I also like that the speaker cutout is open, as opposed to a bunch of holes like I've seen in other cases. It does add some bulk due to the fact that it can rotate 360 degrees, but it not enough that I can't slip it in my rear pant pockets. It has a loop for the stylus, as well as the magnet wake/lock. It also doesn't have the flaw that other cases have where it locks the tablet when you fold the cover back against itself. I like the white stitching and the fact that it doesn't cover the bezel, which is a deal breaker for me, since covered bezels tend to hinder you when navigating the UI. It also has deep grooves so that it doesn't slip when you have it propped open. Also, when in Portrait mode, you can only use it on the last groove. Any of the other 2 grooves can't support it. When it is on the last groove, I can use it without feeling like it's going to fall back, so it's supported very well in that aspect.
This is the same case that I have for my Blackberry Playbook, and on that back of the Playbook, it has the Blackberry Logo, which you can see through that open hole in the back so it looks nice. On the Nexus, there's no logo or anything on the back that shows through the hole, so I wish that it was covered for the Nexus version. Another small gripe would be the location of the Stylus loop.....if you have the case open and you have a stylus in it, the tab will be at a slight angle. I tested it and it doesn't take away from the sturdiness of it, just a small observation.
All in all, I'm happy with it so far. The seller refunded me the money since I was supposed to receive it last week and it got lost misplaced somewhere in shipping and ended up getting routed to Cali first before coming here, so I give him props for great customer service.
Nice review! The case looks better than I had imagined.
I got the same case delivered on Saturday. Works well. Feel a lot safer carrying it around to and from work now.
I may get the slim fit version as well at some point so it isn't quite as thick, but it does feel solid in this thing.
I notice you have a skin on the back of your nexus. Does it get in the way with the case at all, and if you pull the tab out of the case, has it mangled the skin at all on any pressure points?
I have a skin as well but am reluctant to put it on for this reason, and being that the back is rubberized i dont feel like it really needs it in the first place.
Thanks for the review. Really wish they had more color choices! I want a case that sits portrait (I read a lot) & landscape (Netflix). I already have a case for now, but I'm looking to replace it with one that does everything I want... like this one! I'll wait it out a bit & see if they come out with more colors.

Yes, I have an XtremeGuard body protector on it and it doesn't get in the way. I've taken it out of the case a few times and the protector's not bunching up. The protector's been on the Nex7 for over a week, so it's cured pretty well. I wouldn't try it on a fresh protector install. I'd give it about a week so that it sets right before putting it in a case like this.

I have a similar one bought off ebay. I'm happy with it. The only downside of that case is the circular bit at the back where it rotates. It can potentially scratch the back of the Nexus 7 so I have put a clear protective plastic on the back of the N7.

Pros:
Very cool, elegant design, and great idea. You'll want to show it off to your friends.
It eliminates wobble problem.
You can talk with the case on.
Volume still controllable through flap.
Adds very little thickness and width.
Very good materials.
Back feels more sturdy.
Issues:
Makes notification light useless when it is closed.
Expensive, at least for the moment.
White case may be more prone to staining.
Other:
I wish the flap, although it sits flush, had some kind of magnetic attachment.

A magnetic closure will screw up the pen functionality big time.
Do you think that making a small clean hole where the notification led is, it's feasible?

I was thinking the same thing this morning. I think if you know materials, have precision and sharp drill bits you can do a clean job. but I am too committed to the love of OEM and unmodified factory design, I don't think I have the heart do it. Also, the whole point is to remove any opening to the glass from dust particles. having a hole there just works against that goal.

If you check the reviews here on XDA for the Note 1 version, a couple of us had problems with the flap leather/skin coming off of the support cardboard material after a couple of months. It's really nice and elegant, but the lose skin starts getting in the way. Just something to list in the cons section.

Yes. Potential peeling of outside cover on OEM case is a worry. I agree that this was a major flaw of original case. Ps. I think it was way more than a couple of people complaining about it. Lots of bad reviews on several sites. Hope Samsung have learned. From a distance though ...this case looks to be of better quality.

I dunno, I had one on my S3 both a blue and white. Forget the white, the edge peeled and got really dirty in a day. The same happened to the blue but didn't look so bad, but the edge still peeled and the hinge eventually cracked within a couple of weeks.
Am wondering if the front of the cover is waterproof??

some reviews from the samsung site about the s3 flip cover say they deteriorate fairly quickly...can you comment on this with regards to the note2 covers?
I have the orange flip cover and now also the black. I bought the black because of a 50% off coupon that I got from Samsung and also because my orange one got incredibly dirty! I'm going to try and clean it today. Not sure how well that will go. I work in a warehouse so my hands get fairly dirty. There are large "finger prints" on the inside of the case from where my hand holds the cover when it is in the open position.
Will let everyone know how cleaning goes today!
Just purchased and received the Poetic Slimline case for the Nook HD. Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-SLIMLI...804667&sr=8-2&keywords=nook+hd+7"+poetic+case
Currently the case is just $6.95 with free shipping. Current as of 2/13/2013
The case has has a plastic base that clips on over the body of the Nook HD. This helps to make the fit very snug while adding very little to the depth of the device. There are cut outs for the volume rocker, headphone jack and for the power button. The bottom of the case is left mostly open for access to the micro sdcard, proprietary port and the LED light hole. There are also two holes for the speakers on the back.
The plastic case is covered with a faux leather type material. This allows for a relatively tacky area so the device will not slip out of your hand. This material also covers the front of the device protecting the screen of the Nook HD. On the inside of the front cover is a soft velvet like material that is nice and soft preventing scratches on the screen. The front cover can also be tri-folded behind the device to act as a stand for the tablet. This occurs in landscape mode allowing for a decent angle to watch movies or other videos. It does not provide any support in the portrait mode though so it will not help with reading books.
The front cover clicks in to place with the back plastic via magnets. This helps to secure the cover so that it does not flop open. It also provides for a way to turn your Nook HD on and off when opening or closing the case. This is a great feature that will actually bypass the normal lock screen so that when you finish opening the case your device is on and ready to go. However, if you enable the password lock screen then you will still need to unlock and then type in your code.
This case comes with a 3 year warranty from Poetic which is very unusual for cases but is a great feature to have.
One con I found in this device after its arrival was that there were some threads coming out from between the two material types on the front cover of the case. This were easily clipped to make things look better but it does take away from the idea of the case being of top quality. My only other concern is how well the materials will hold up while using the front cover as a stand. If used very frequently it could lead to cracking of the front cover. However, I will only be able to tell that over time and not for the day that I have had the case so far.
So far I am very impressed with the Poetic Slimline case for the Nook HD. I recommend anyone looking for a nice slim case to pick one up.
4.5 out of 5 stars.
Some more pictures in post # 4.

Questions: I had a Poetic portfolio case, had one dumb thing, pen holder on the back surface. Is there one on this? Also, I like to be able to stand it up in portrait mode for reading, but I think this one only stands in landscape, right?
Thanks

There is nothing on the back. So no worries there.
This case is not designed for portrait use. It might stand straight up in portrait but it won't be very stable and there is no way to change the angle.

Far and away the best commercial case I've had for a tablet flavored device. And half the cost of the nearest competitor in the
'decent case' catetory, and that one was for a 5" Samsung media player.
I get the impression that these are from a maker who also makes iPad cases and uses many of the same materials. The front has three
longitudinal strips of material - but the third is narrower than the first two. I'll compare it to a smart cover tomorrow - my memory is
that that cover has three bands of equal-breadth material on the front
The fit in the rear is good as delivered, but may start to loosen up over time, and doesn't have a cutout to match the grommet
in the corner. I may add a cutout (I have a grommet setter for fabric) and then use a shoelace or similar to fasten down the back
on that side. That could also get me a loop for a stylus, which would be useful to me. The fit across the front is a little too
long and a little too wide, which will annoy me over time or I may get used to it.
The cover activates the wake from sleep in CM10. The device sleeps itself after a minute by default, which is fine with me.
All in all, 8 out of 10.

This looks great. Exactly what i have been looking for on HD+. this is avilable also for HD+ at $8.95.
Poetic likes to throw out introductory prices and then increase it once it gets popular, so i would order now it you want one, even if it is not available for another 1-2 weeks, for the prices may increase by then.

I knew prices would go up. It is now $19 for hd+ and $17 for HD. Those who got in at intro price got themselves a great case (myself included). It is exactly what i have been loking for.

Glad I got it when I did then.
As long as you're OK with black, those are still at 8.95.

i think i got the last 8.95 one as after i ordered, the price jumped to 12.95. maybe it's back down now, haven't checked.
anyway after about a week of use, i like the case for the price but have some minor quibbles. the case is a bit creased/folded on the edges when it shipped, so it doesn't perfectly conform to the shape of the HD+. maybe over time it will smooth out.
the stand notch is not very solid and i've had it slip when i'm moving around, not sure if that's standard for case stands. also the "hand strap" is kind of hard to pull out, but i mostly use it in landscape mode so not a big deal.
like i said not a big deal especially for the price, but not a perfect case.

I think we're talking different covers here. I thnk your cover is the "Poetic slimbook", not the "Slimline". Still good to hear you views on it!

Thanks for the tip. Now $15 for the black HD+ one on Amazon. Still a decent price :cyclops:
Anyone has a hint how to order Poetic to a Europe country other than UK at a low price?
I can order at amazon.co.uk for 20GBP + 6GBP shipping (= 40 USD) which seems a bit high compared to 6 GBP price on UK Ebay (but from where I can't get it shipped to Slovenia).
Have anoyone here tried one of the Noreve leather cases for the Z2 Tablet?
Noreve web site
If so, do you like it?
I am SO tempted to get one of the cases in Patine finish, but they are so fracking expensive... so before I shell out around €150 on a case, any feedback on them?
I like the magnetic flap on the Tradition B version, but at the same time I would like to be able to flip the cover all the way around on the back. From the pictures I'm not sure that is possible.

I just had to put my brand-spanker Xperia Z2 4G LTE into a really good quality case, after all, i had just laid out a fairly good chunk on the tablet itself and i felt it needed to be in something that afforded good protection. My search found that there are not that many choices and the Sony made unit is not (to me) that fantastic. I settled on the standard Noreve Euro70.75 (shipping included) unit which worked out cheaper than the locally priced and supplied Sony unit anyway.
The fact it's made of real leather imparts an instant sense of quality (and smell). Its been in use just over a week and is 'wearing-in' without any problems yet but a few months might be a better time period before making any claims.
I like that all the connects are available and accessible but i did spring for a DeFF microUSB>Xperia magnetic attach charger adapter plug so i don't have to constantly dig open the USB 'door' just to do a charge.
The Noreve case came via DHL to New Zealand in 4 days, they provided all the courier tracking info. It was packed in a bubble bagged, very presentable box inside a classy presentation bright red drawstring bag with the Logo and "Saint Tropez" printed upon it. The whole thing shouts quality at you... or intends to.
I am not sure if you can get a patina finished unit, i don't see that info on their site for the Z2. I sprung for the smooth finish look (and not the tab clip option) so that the whole kit slides into my satchel next the iPad i need to also use for my work...with the tab arrangement i assume would easily become damaged.
The screen switches 'to black' works too upon closing the Noreve case which holds closed via a couple of clips.
So far i am happy with my purchase...

Thanks for the reply! ☺
The "patina" option is available for me at least, it's at the end of the drop-down.
When you turn the front cover all the way around, will the clips stick out or can you lay it flat on a table?

Yes, i missed delving that deeply into the Noreve site. Patina look would certainly give some added class... and maybe a bit of security in that the the Xperia takes on the of some really old valueless writing compendium that an opportunist thief would likely overlook.
The rigid clips (holding tabs) remain vertical so when the top is turned over as you describe they are digging directly in to a table surface. That is going to be the first contact point i expect wear, even damage. So far i have been aware of it but most of my work i hold the device in my left hand cradled up my arm in Landscape mode. I have worked like this with an iPad since the dawn of time so i'm used to it i guess.
I'll accommodate the extended Noreve clips/tabs thing when its not in my hands when at my work at my deskby using the large (company issue) multi-sheet paper blotter we all still have and by careful positioning the tabs will clear the desk, overhanging the blotter... (basically its a workaround)..
