Advice wanted. - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Nexus One and I was looking for a more modern phone to enjoy the best user experience offered by Android.
I found a second-hand Samsung Galaxy S3 for € 100.
My dream would be to wait a few years and buy the Nexus 5, but this offer tempts me a lot, what do you advise?

Check the Motorola Moto G 16gb.
- no micro SD
- I think camera is not as good as the S3
+ Android 4.4
+ no Sense
Google only supports Nexus Devices for 18 Month
What is your price limit?

I can not spend more than that. I was looking for a quite modern smartphone that have features and value similar to the Samsung S3.
An important thing is that it have a AOSP community for support and develop, like a CyanogenMod rom.

As you can see I have a nexus 5 but I had the galaxy nexus before. Cyanogen helps to have the latest android version on my old galaxy nexus with Google now launcher and it works better than with the stock ROM.
If you want a good replacement with pure android I'd wait for a Google phone. A new nexus 5 or an older one with cyanogen. The nexus 5 is 400$ with 32g internal and it's worth it.

Why not go for a nexus 4 its not the latest phone but still very good and has the latest android.

Ok, 32GB with 3G/4G for $299, very good, might get that since I already got a 16GB Nexus 7 (first gen), but wtf, no hardware changes? I was waiting for something new other than more HDD space. I will wait out a month or two to see if the screen lift problem persists.

Where did you read that there's no 4G-LTE? Or did you surmise this from not seeing mention of it being included. You may be right, but I'd be shocked if they omitted LTE from a phone this new.

According to LeeLaa (read up), we get it Nov 13.
Meanwhile, I am skeptically, cynically contemplating the possibility that this is actually true.... Then again, if an N7 with no hardware changes is available Nov. 13 with JB 4.2 onboard, it does makes sense that we'll be able to get JB 4.2 for existing N7's around the same time.

Help me decide my next Android purchase

Hi guys. I have a Nexus S and I already posted this in the NS and N4 forums.
Now... I've been wanting a Nexus 7 ever since it was announced, but only now that I can afford one.
But now I see I've got a chance to buy a 16gb Nexus 4.
I was planning on continuing to use my Nexus S as it totally rocks running CM10.1 and using the Nexus 7 for browsing the web around the house and playing games.
If I would buy the Nexus 4 I would obviously not afford the Nexus 7 for a while. But the Nexus 4 is such a sexy piece of hardware and it has a much better camera than the Nexus S and I've got a baby on the way and I would love to be able to take good pictures and HD videos of my little ones.
Help me decide!
Nexus 7 + Nexus S
Or
Nexus 4 only
I´ll tell you one thing that might sway your opinion a bit...
I am in Iceland... A 16gb Nexus 4 is 99.900 ISK = 775 USD. A 32gb Nexus 7 is 59.900 ISK = 465 USD.
:crying:
Sent from my Nexus S
Well, speaking as a newer parent (22 month old daughter) in the long run you'll value your pictures far more than whatever hardware you get today. So if the phone will be your primary camera, get one with a good camera...and fast. My Evo 3D was so slow from button press to photo actually taken, I kept missing great shots...but I digress.
Those prices really suck though...makes me think there could be money being a technology mule. LOL

Nexus 7 + Nexus S.
Then wait for the next nexus phone or the 'rumoured' X-Phone by Motorola.

Nexus 4. Quality pictures of your baby will be more valuable. Later on you can get the new nexus 7 inch device.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
Sounds like a tough pickle...if it wasn't for the pictures I would say go nexus s and nexus 7 that is about to be my combo when my nexus 7 comes in. I went with that option simply because I was tired of waiting to get a nexus 4 that and I am temporarily computerless.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2
Well if you get them shipped from america and paid american prices you could get both for the price you are paying for the N4.
There are companies you can use to buy them and ship them to you.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I recommend you the 7 & nS combo.
The 7 is a dream.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I would say you should get the Nexus 7 and keep the Nexus S. That is what I did, and I love it.
I would take the Nexus 7 cause i don't care about camera and the nexus s can do almost all things the nexus 4 can. It's just slower.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I'm actually swaying toward the NS+N7 combo.
I'm seeing a lot of threads about issues with the N4. I'm not the type who has to have the newest gadgets so I think I might just wait until most of the issues with it have been resolved and then it might have reduced in price a bit here in Iceland.

I have both the Nexus 7 and Nexus 4.
You should definitely get the n4. Why downgrade to a 2 year phone? I bought the n7 first then a month later i got the n4. It's been great so far. My only wish is that my n4 would be more battery efficient like my n7. I love my n7 because of the size, gaming performance is amazing, and did i mention battery life is superb?

I have lived the nexus 7 since launch. if you need a phone as your main camera thenget a Samsung. I bought a nexus 4 sixteengig. sold out right away and bought notetwo. battery life wasn't that Good andno ability to swap batteries. the 3100 mah battery on this bad boy means you will never . miss a photo or video opportunity due to dead battery. internal plus a 64gig external means recording lots of hd video. I would hit eBay.

I was also considering a new phone, but got the 7 instead, and I'm so glad I did. Love it. Quite happy still using my galaxy s(1) for a while longer. The nexus 7 is something different than just another phone, when you already got a phone that you're still happy with.

Get the N7. The Nexus 4 to me, just isn't worth it. Too many things led me to not buying one, and I instead stuck with my Gnex. 90% of users don't even use that Snapdragon CPU. The camera isn't that great. Front and back both glass which is a big no no for me.
Trust me, the N7 is well worth it.
It seems to me that with that difference in price, you could buy the N7 and then get a decent little point and shoot (or maybe even a super zoom) camera. Keep your S for a while and save, then buy the N4 if it's still what you want.

It depends on a screen size (and free funds to spend of course ). If the screen size is 5" or bigger I will consider N4 of HTC One.

My upgrade is in September so I still have some time to go. If Google comes out with a vastly improved nexus without a recycled design from another device. By vastly improved I'm talking about Camera quality, LTE, full HD screen and battery life. Sure I'll go for the nexus 5 but if they don't improve all those than I'm going to contemplate jumping ship.

Hmmmm...Nexus 5. If you'll note, the current nexus lineup are all named according to the display size. For Google to add a 4th nexus device to the lineup is unlikely (to much to manage), so the best guess is a refresh of the nexus 4, possibly by another manufacturer, and probably later in the year. What we can expect for I/O is a refresh on the nexus 7 (with the same name), and possibly a non-nexus device from Motorola that runs stock Android.

I think we could expect a new phone as well. Considering that key lime pie is a major update, there is bound to be new features for phones not just tablets. So they will be probably need another device to show off the new features of the new build. I'm doubting they will use a nexus 4 as a demo device, its already fairly old news.

Nexus 4 vs Google Edition of Samsung Galaxy S4

I saw this article yesterday but didn't know if it was true or not. Would you sell/trade you're current Nexus 4 for the Google Edition Samsung Galaxy S4? Will the Samsung Galaxy S4 be the exact same as the Nexus from a software perspective since it's pure Android?
I'm not a big fan of the Samsung build quality (ie plastic) but know there are a lot of nexus 4 owners that would like 32GB and a removable battery.

It doesn't matter if it's true or not. The Galaxy S4 supports AOSP. Those who want AOSP know what to do. That's just how I see it.
If it's unlocked and reasonably priced (maybe... like $400 for a 16gb model) I would absolutely jump ship for the S4. To me, a changeable battery and microSD card are killer features.
However, I don't anticipate it being much cheaper than a standard unlocked S4, so I probably won't be buying it.

I miss my 32gbs of storage, however, I love the feel of my nexus....don't think I can go back to plastics. My batter lasts me all day even with heavy use believe it or not. I can't lie though sometimes it's close but it always comes through.

Well, not sure what to think of a google s4 version priced at $649 available at the google playstore soon.
If it becomes successful, that would definitely have a negative effect on the cheaper nexus devices.
Google I/O confirms this.
June 26, $649, 16GB only, ATT/TMobile with LTE support.
