HTC one in 2014 - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm interested in getting HTC one M7. I would like to know if it is with buying it in 2014. I have a galaxy s3. Even though, it's works alright. I love the way the one looks. One more question, is htc one good enough on stock? I had horrible time with S3. I had flash custom rom to get decent performance out of it. Can you guys suggests? Thank you!

M7 is still an excellent phone. Build quality, performance, UI and general user experience is just amazing. You will not regret the swap from samsung. The M8 is out but in my opinion it didn't come with huge revolutionary development. If you don't mind not having the newest phone you cannot go wrong with the M7. My device is still stock, on KitKat and am having excellent battery life with fair usage. The phone itself is blazing fast.

go for m7. excelent ONE

Best rom for battery life

Hi guys,
Looking for a bit of end user advice.
Im off to glasronbury festival tomorow and want to take my inc s. As those of you have been might know the ques for the phone charging tent tent are massive so want to try avoid them for as long as possible.
To the people who have used a variety if custom roms, which has the best battery life?
I plan to turn if mobile data etc for the majority of the time and don't mind if its stock android or sense based
Thanks in advance

There aren't many roms to choose from, but android revolution has been quite good on battery life for me. And I'm a pretty heavy user.

Thanks for your input. Was the sense or sense-less version?

I am really satisfied with the battery life in Android Revolution HD
IMO you'll regret the decision to take the phone...
anyway, revolution hd is good, i use it without sense.
I have reason to take my inc, the this years glastonbury app is actually really useful as it has a clash finder and a reminder function. So many years I have missed things due to losing track of time (i may have not been sober to be fair)
To everyone else, thanks for the advice. Looks like i will be going for revolution!

Anyone planning to upgrade?

Is anyone planning to upgrade their device and is looking for a replacement to their current phone? What would it be? And why? I'm planning in a few months so I could use some opinions!!

I've been using IncS for just over a year now. I still think my phone is pretty good and fast for me. Now with ICS, it's even better. I believe it can at least last for another year.
Changed phone to one x. Nice ICS.

Was all in for one s but found the coating chipped problem on the black version, so decide to wait and see.
To me, give my IS duo core, a little better camera (It's already quite good), I will be happily stick with it for another year, it is just so overall nice compare to other phone.

Exactly!!! This phone is good enough! Just dual core and bigger battery!! Camera upgrade is optional!

Duo/Quad core with slightly better GPU and I'll use it for another 3 years.
My phone is currently with HTC service for changing USB port /mainboard. Depending on the condition it comes back,I'm sticking with my current phone.
Edit.
I mean I intend to stick with my IncredibleS. Served me well for a year, still has good value & mileage to last for another year, easily.

I've had this phone for close to a year n still not bored with it. Anyone who sees it always has something good to say bout it. Personally I feel it is a very well manufactured phone n with ics it shud b the best performer in its segment cos I heard ics is freakingly stable!!

I just got my phone back from HTC, I sent it in because my power button was a bit dodgy, and my warranty is running out
Anyway I got it back, more than a month later, and it had a new motherboard, s-on with HBOOT 2.00.000
I had planned to sell it, and buy an Evo 3D, but after I took pictures for ebay, I decided to keep it, and I downgraded and rooted it
As soon as ICS arrives, I will be happy

Like everyone would ask!! If you used your one x as much you use incredible s daily what is the battery life you get??
Sent from my Incredible S using Tapatalk
Nexus Family is one of the best candidates.
My friend moved from InS to Galaxy Nexus for a month, And he told me that he wouldn't buy any other brand but Nexus.
The only current phone I would upgrade to would be the One S, and right now I have no plans to retire my Incredible S for the foreseeable future.

Well my IncS sure had a better battery life.
I would like my onex's battery to last longer, but I can live with it.
And the speed and smoothness is so much greater on this one. And I am running completely stock and not even rooted.
Also I am one of the lucky ones having almost none of the reported issues with the OneX.
So its clearly an upgrade I would recommend

Nexus is a good phone but the money u pay for it is not what u get ...earlier nexus were great and up to the mark but the recent one is just plain odd for a flagship phone!! Hope HTC makes the next nexus! And I recently had a chance to use the xperia s .. must say for the price I was impressed and it has a pretty good battery life!!

Aah... Again... I guess it has something to do with cost control!! Btw whatever happened to the rezound ... Its disappeared suddenly!! Its a one s with 720p screen isn't it!! Would love to buy it for cheap!!
No one's planning for the s3... Just announced recently!! What's the thoughts on that?

The rezound is a Verizon US only phone.
My contract ends this time next year :/
IMO the galaxy s 3 looks ugly, if I wanted something else I would get a one s
It just looks good, fast, and cos the one x is too big

Would you do it again.

So i am an atrix 2 who is within my 30 day period and thinking about returning my phone for the vivid (can't afford a one x). I am wanting to know if any of you regret your choice in getting the vivid and if there are any cons that I should know about before jumping in.
Sent from my MB865 using XDA
The Vivid is way better than the Atrix 2, I have had it before. Plus the vivid is running ICS, big plus. I would advise going to an at&t store and trying it out. But I would make the switch if it was me.

The Vivid is my first Android phone. I did a lot of research about Android phones, before i decided on the Vivid. Since i'm an AT&T customer(long time), the choice was clear.I would definitely get another Vivid, if mine were lost or stolen.

I very well may return the Atrix 2 and continue to use my Inspire until the price of the One X comes down a little bit. Still undecided at this point.
I have both Atrix 2 (work phone) and Vivid (personal phone).
Personally, I prefer Vivid, no questions asked!
I love the clarity of the Atrix 2's screen.
The Vivids screen is really clear, and vivid, lol.

I would never get the Vivid again. It's a good phone but the battery life is just horrible. If you don't care about that, get it.
I have my other line upgrade-ready but still won't get the one x. My Vivid with the 3400 mah extended battery kiks the One's @ss, plus I need my sdcard. If this Vivid gets broken or stolen I will definitely get another one.

If you still have the Vivid and still having issues with the battery life with various ROMs, you could check out WildChild's latest ROM as he somehow has really extended the battery life. I am currently THOROUGHLY impressed as I haven't had the need to reach for my back up batteries.

Thanks for that. I haven't tried that ROM. I will probably take a look today.
i love my vivid i have 2 one as a backup and 1 for personal use i would recommend getting the black one phone is great, i would highly recommend unlocking the bootloader and using Holic's rom Have fun with your vivid!
if I had the opportunity to swap this phone for another, I would, but I don't know what handset I would go for, ultimately this device has everything I want out of a device, physically I hate the battery cover as I am constantly pulling it off whilst getting the phone out of my pocket, and it slips up infront of the camera lense inside cases all the time.
After this device I'm pretty sure that I am done with HTC, I'll probably look at a samsung offering next time, maybe even the next Nexus.

Should i sell my AT&T Galaxy S4 for a HTC ONE?

I have a month old flawless condition Galaxy S4 White. I'm not to impressed with the Development for this phone lately as it hasn't really been out that much less than the HTC one yet has 1/4 of the development. Ive been with HTC Phones my entire life HTC EVO 4G HTC EVO 3D HTC REZOUND HTC AMAZE I even had a HTC TOUCH DIAMOND. And the last 2 phones I had were the GS4 and the Gnex. I love heavily modded and feature packed roms. And the HTC ONE has all of that. And Mikes rom is doing Amazing on this phone so quite frankly im jealous. I absolutely love my S4 and it does everything I need but me being a crack flasher idk what to do right now and im stuck.
You should do what you're heart tells you. If you want to stick with the S4 do it. If you want a HTC One, buy it Most of the people on the One forum will tell you to ditch the S4 and get a premium aluminum boomsound One ( including me ) Fact is that the S4 and the One both are great high-end devices with excellent development here on XDA. Just do what you think is best!

I'm very happy now, I remember them saying that the Snapdragon S4 would have tons of custom roms.. but the octacore version was much better off .
I think after using the note for a couple of months and I got the S4, I saw nothing different. I think it was software and the build of the phone that got me. Also the development .

The HTC One

Hey guys I'm in need of an upgrade and I think the HTC One is the answer!
I was wondering if you could please give me feedback on your experience so far.
All I know about the cons like
Can't change battery
No SD card...
So how is the battery life etc??
Thanks

Read through all the posts in General and you'll get your information. Like I tell everyone, buy the phone because you want it, not because someone else sold it to you.
The storage is just enough for me. It would be nice to have a sd card slot though. Battery life lasts 12 hours for me on a regular day. Matters how much you use it of course. The main thing that sold me on the phone was Sense.
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk 4
Have it and don't recommend. I'd wait for the next nexus. I've been disappointed with the camera on the One. 2nd One with camera issues, purple and/or red tint. Otherwise solid phone.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
Pros: great screen, front speakers are awesome, nice build, fast, great front camera, good size, great reception, awesome in red, I like the notification LED
Cons: back camera sucks compared most other phones (pictures are pixelated), battery life could be better but it's manageable, charges really slow
Noted: You quickly adapt to the lack of a menu button, takes great pics in the dark, Sense is probably the best skin available, the TV app is really useful.
Verdict: Not bad for a "phone", I think i would have personally liked the S4 better. My 14 year old daughter has one too and loves it.I'll be getting the Note 3 once its affordable and selling this one.
Have one, don't recommend. HTC refuses to pay attention to details such as build quality. It refuses to fix the purple tint issue. The camera is overrated. The battery life is only decent. You can't get S-off on certain hboots.
Wait for the Nexus 5. It looks freaking sweet.

Wait it out bro. This phone is 5 months old and hasn't smelled an update. You have to worry about pink camera issue, the build quality gamble, and who knows if 32gb is enough for you. Wait it out instead of jumping so quickly
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk 4
I, personally, love mine. No camera issue, fast as hell, and we haven't seen an update to 4.2.2 because HTC is jumping right to 4.3 within the next couple weeks.
I've not had a better smart phone experience and I owned a RAZR HD and a galaxy s iii
Sent from my HTCONE using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I love my HTC One. Like everyone else said, the battery could be better but I'm running complete stock so maybe a custom ROM would help the battery. As for the camera issue, HTC said that they would fix it with the 4.3 update so I wouldn't worry about that. The only thing is that this phone is I think five months old so if you really want a HTC phone, then go for it. I would take this over the S4 and the next Nexus mainly because of HTC Sense. And the specs are as good as the competitors so it all comes down to preference of UI and features. My One has never frozen on me and I've had it for two months. Great phone and would definitely recommend it. Let us know what you decide!
EDIT: Sorry I got off track and forgot to answer your questions. The battery lasts me about 10-11 hours but that's on stock. The storage is more than enough to have for another two years. And like I said, my One has never frozen on me so no need for a battery pull. And I'm sure that HTC made the charging of the phone take longer to conserve the overall life of the battery but mine charges pretty fast. It's not slow but it's not super fast either.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium
This phone uses the older generation of Gorilla glass, people from the Taiwan forums are reporting that the 4.3 update doesn't fix the camera tint, and I get around 14 hours battery life with moderate use. This phone is already outdated and you would be a fool to pay $600 for it when there are much better phones just around the corner.
