I recently rooted my sprint htc one (not very pleasant since I had to wipe my whole phone). I have installed TWRP and I am running the stock HTC ROM 4.06.651.4 and have root access. I keep getting the alert for an update from sprint about the 4.06.651.9 update. I cannot install since it takes me to TWRP if I try to install it. Is there a way to install this update without completely wiping my phone again? If so how?

You can flash the stock recovery and download on the phone and install, then when all done, flash TWRP and re-root, thats only if you lose it of course.
Stock recovery: https://www.mediafire.com/?3kwe7hiq9qeusdb
Just flash via fastboot flash recovery Stock_recovery.img
Then install OTA
then flash TWRP again, this should work, as I have done it before.
But not if you have a hotspot hack...
We do need a stock/rooted/hotspothacked 4.06.651.9 build that we can flash via fastboot.
Thank you, that worked perfectly! I am now rooted with stock ROM and 4.06.651.9 without losing any content.

You can try flash image GUI, it's free here on the forums or you have to pay in the play store. I use that to flash twrp recoveries, I don't see how it wouldn't work with stock.

HTC Pushed an update to my HTC One Dev Ed tonight..
1.29.1540.16
When it tries to flash the update it just goes into TWRP recovery. No other actions.
I then drilled down to the directory that it downloaded to /data/media/downloads and tried to flash with TWRP.. no dice.
Here is the update.. but honestly I don't know what it does.
any Idea on what is preventing the flash?

You must go back to stock recovery in order for the update to successfully flash on your device.
You don't need the update from HTC, just go and flash the latest revolution 10.2 rom, it is running 4.2.2 and it has some nice performance tweaks. And it isn't modified so it's running sense 5.

How to do you go back to a stock recovery? Been down that road and it still didn't update.

For some of us, going to a different ROM is not a viable choice, and frankly a solution to load a different ROM does not answer the original question.
Hi I have the same problem here.
When I try to install stock 4.2.2, the phone reboot & automatically enter TWRP & thus stock update was unable to run.

None of the HTC direct updates will work while TWRP is installed.
you will have to
Fastboot flash (stock recovery .img)
then the updated from HTC works with no problems. pst if you can't find the img
Hello, i got my One yesterday and promptly rooted it via the HTCDev site. i have gotten supersu installed and cwm installed. however, when i try to install a rom, everything says it works but when i reboot it stays at the HTC screen. the only one ive gotten to do anything is viper rom and it comes up with no signal and no apps installed and then reboots about 2 minutes later. any suggestions? any info i need to give?

boy, i don't know at this point, you may have borked the radio, i would try to ruu, get back to stock and start all over.keep in mind if you run an RUU you have to relock the bootloader to do so. then you can unlock again and go from there.install recovery etc/

Also, I suggest using the revone s-off method from the revolutionary team. It allows you to flash ROMs more easily without flashing the boot.img separately. The link to the thread on how is in my web signature.

ok so here is an update- i went back to stock, re unlocked via htc dev, installed clockwork custom recovery, used viberboys link to put SU on there, got s-off with moonshine, able to boot. i flash the rom on there and it wont boot plus it breaks my custom recovery and i have to reflash it.
Try TWRP

i have tried all of this with both recoveries. I just tried cleanrom and it boots into safemode only with no signal. this is so frustrating...

I ran the ruu over a 10times for in unbricking it but still no difference.
For me the stock phone is almost perfect as is. I'd just like root access to achieve different tasks using Tasker and Secure Settings.
So how can the following be achieved:
1) Root access without CWM Recovery
2) Still receive OTA's
3) Nandroid without CWM Recovery
4) Restore Nandroid without CWM Recovery
The important thing for me is still getting OTA's without having to flash stock recovery etc. Plan on staying stock as long as the OTA's continue.
I'm used to Samsung so the whole HTC rooting process is somewhat alien. Any guidance appreciated.

Use TWRP?
You can fastboot boot CWM, rather than flash it, but you know, it's probably a lot easier to flash the recovery and leave it on there until you need to install the OTA and then just flash stock back recovery.

I'm on mobile so, no, too much hassle.
fastboot boot cwm-recovery.img
Instead of
fastboot flash recovery cwm-recovery.img
But I feel that booting the recovery every time you want to back up or restore is more hassle than flashing stock recovery every OTA.
I just got a notification that there was a system update for my phone. I'm running a rooted, but otherwise stock phone. When it downloads and reboots it goes to the recovery menu instead of updating. Is there something that I need to do to get this to install?

Do you have the stock recovery or is it custom. You have to be on stock ROM and stock Recovery in order to OTA. You may lose root, but being rooted will not affect the OTA installing.
Ah, that may be the problem. I have TWRP installed, so does that mean that I'll have to flash a rom that's been updated?
Thanks!

You have to flash stock recovery at least. Some people were having luck just flashing the stock recovery and some were having to relock the bootloader as well. I tried flashing the stock recovery and running the update but it failed. I don't really want to relock my bootloader and lose all my data when I unlock it again, so I'm holding off for now.

You can still weekly update with TWRP. I've been doing it since I got the phone 2-3 weeks ago. It just launches the updater script in TWRP and installs fine
Ok.. Nice! I've just read that TWRP would break the updates. I'll try when the next one comes. Thanks☺

I stand corrected. This week's update didn't work for me. I checked my downloaded_rom folder and it seemed to be downloading entire ROMs the past two weeks, except this week it was just the patch. With. The entire rom download, it installed but with this week's update only it did not install.
Mine did not update as well.. Just froze at the MI logo.. Tried twice.

TWRP does break the updates and even after restoring stock recovery it still won't do it just download the full rom and dirty flash it through TWRP. If you still need stock recovery here's my backup. https://mega.co.nz/#!KFckQTBR!r3zUx_6OoKiusgPWRSBYhltvHP48RLfhuSnZ59wXF2k
I have made the backup using Flashify so you will need to install Flashify and place the file inside Android/data/com.cgollner.flashify/files/flashify-backup/recovery

Yea I tried that, then realized how much I used TWRP and reverted back after 2 hours.
