Please help me, I don't have much experience with Android devices and I've run into a problem that I can't get out of. My HTC one just shut off on me and would get stuck on the logo screen every time I tried to turn it back on. I tried getting onto the bootloader, and I did, but I can't go any further than selecting options, every time I select and option, it just sends me back to the bootloader. As you can see in the attachment, I am currently locked with S-On, I honestly don't know what that means. I'm in desperate need of help. I thank you for your time.
P.S. My phone is recognized by my pc.
Just click on reboot

try to ''fastboot erase cache'' and reboot the phone. If that doesn't work, there is a ruu you could use to restore your phone back to stock.

follow this guide to install your phone's drivers on your computer:
originally from @nkk71: [GUIDE] [02-MAR-2014] nkk71's SuperGUIDE to returning 100% back to stock
2) Q: I'm using Windows 7 what should I worry about
A: when you issue the command "fastboot boot CWM.img" (now only in CWM/TWRP restore method) there's a high chance drivers won't correctly install
follow the below instructions to fix
Open "Device Manager" -> select the unknown "One" -> right-click -> "Update Driver Software ..." -> "Browse my computer" -> "Let me pick" -> "Android USB Devices" -> select "My HTC ..." -> install that
just in case, HTC Drivers can be found here: [Drivers] HTC Drivers for Windows - Several Versions (credits to @mdmower)
though you should already have them since you have been using your phone anyways
for those who like a visual guide:
okay so I did a fastboot boot command, and as you can see it didnt install correct driver
Open "Device Manager"
there's the culprit
right click and Update Driver Software
select Browse my computer for driver software
select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
select Android USB Devices
select My HTC ... (if you have more than one version, choose the latest)
warning, select Yes
successful installation
now it looks better
and can confirm:
Code:
C:\ADB3>[B]adb devices[/B]
List of devices attached
HTxxxxxxxxxx recovery
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
follow this guide here to install adb and fastboot tools on your computer.
then open the command prompt ( Minimal ADB and Fastboot) and type:
Code:
fastboot erase cache
and reboot the phone. If it still hangs on the HTC logo, you'll probably need to restore the phone using the ruu like I said. This will wipe all your data including the sdcard.
Just do what mentioned above and I'll guide you how to flash the ruu if it doesnt work.
Or you can unlock the bootloader an install a rom that is near to stock
Is in my point of vue simpler

restoring using a ruu.exe is much simpler then flashing a custom rom IMO. It doesn't require to unlock the bootloader, flash a custom recovery and flash the rom, only clicking the ruu.exe and clicking ''next'' like 2 times
If the OP prefer to stay stock then the RUU should be fine and simple. If he doesn't matter then, yes flashing a custom rom is also a good option if he want to unlock the device again.

Hey, I haven't been able to do much with my phone because I was busy with work. I downloaded the RUU, but before I even got to set it up, my phone shut down and won't turn on, and there are no signs of charging. It does connect to my PC, but it keeps trying to locate the QHSUSB_DLOAD driver. I've searched the web for a fix but can't seem to find one. Is there any way you can help me? Or is my phone just bricked and a paperweight now? I have no warranty on it because I bought it from a guy on Craigslist a few months ago.

QHSUSB_DLOAD means Qualcomm High Speed USB download mode. This is really a bad thing, your phone is hardbricked.
I hope your phone is still under warranty, nothing can be done except send it back for replacement or repair.
Sorry.
Edit: If your warranty is expired, maybe a JTAG service could repair it.

Hello. I have the following problem. I friend of mine that I've sold him my old rooted Htc One tried to make 4.4. kitkat
He tried to install
Android_Revolution_HD-One-53.0zip
BUT I don't know how he managed to stuck his phone. The problem is when I am power on the phone it shows the white HTC screen with the red letters "this build is for development purpose only..." after a while reboots in TWRP v2.5.0.0
And that's it , I cannot do anything because my PC won't recognize it via USB cable.
Any suggestions?
(excuse me for my English, with love from Greece )
As long as it boots into Recovery its not bricked. Do you have the HTC Driver installed on your computer?
Android Revolution HD 53 requires min. TWRP 2.6.3.3. Your version is too old.

It must be recognized.
Then flash boot.img which is in the Revolution.zip.
Then install the rom via recovery.
Remember for unlock and not s-off users the boot.img must be flashed befor flashing a rom.zip.

SAME problem (or pretty similar) here, trying to instal ARHD61.1... I don't know how did I screw up this so much...
My bootloader is TAMPERED, UNLOCKED, S-On. Recovery TRWP (2.7) launches but... many things don't work.
First thing I have to mention is that I didn't forget to enable debugging before all this started (and now I can't launch android to do it).
My HTC drivers should be up-to-date, as I installed yesterday HTC sync 3.00.52...
In bootloader, if I type "fastboot devices" I get "FA34HW903605 fastboot", and "fastboot reboot.bootloader" does what it is expected to do...
In recovery, "adb push" tells me "error: device not found".
Can someone help me? If you need more details, just ask. Thanks

-------------------------------------------------- UPDATE --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, I followed your steps (LET ME THANK YOU FOR MAKING THAT GUIDE) and now the device is "My HTC" as you show.
Something has changed:
If I type "adb devices" (in PC) when phone is in fastboot, the listing is void (before I got "FA34HW903605 fastboot"), and if I do the same while phone is in recovery, I get the mentioned "FA34HW903605 recovery".
In Windows7 I don't see "My HTC" as a conventional USB storage or Memory of a Camera (should it be?)
I've managed to ADB PUSH a ROM (ARHD) in recovery, but now I get an error message: "Unable to mount '/data' " and "Unable to mount internal storage " then FAILED. Now I'll try flashing a new recovery...
WOW WOW WOW!! It was enough for me, sir
1st) Solve comunnication issues as shown in FAQ #2 here
2nd) Solve TWRP recovery mount issues by:
2.a) Installing any other (clockwork) in fastboot using One All In One Kit (eaaaasy)
2.b) Formatting cache, system, data partitions
2.c) Installing TWRP again using One All In One Kit (Android Revolution REQUIRES this recovery)
2.d) Sending the ROM ('adb push your_rom.zip /sdcard/wherever_you_want_it')
2.e) Installing it from TWRP recovery.
An that was all. THANKS A LOT nkk71; without your help I still would be here trying to figure out what's broken... Thanks.

no problem, glad to be of help
remember for most 4.4 ROMs, (for m7_u/ul) TWRP 2.6.3.3 (or higher) is recommended at the moment.
though you should be good by downloading it, then checking MD5 to make sure the download isnt corrupt (that site doesnt work with download managers), then:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
-> enter recovery and push the rom

It wont be so easy, I'm afraid. Even if comunication issues are solved, you won't be able to copy your ROM using windows file manager, opening the phone like a conventional drive...
You have to install "ADB" in your PC (search in HTC ONE subforums, there's a lot of info about ADB pusing (=copying) ROMS) and use it to copy your ROM. One advice: while "pushing" the ROM, be patient: it takes a long time. When your ROM is "pushed", just install it in recovery and... that's it!!
I think here you have a good starting point.

Hey, congratulations!! :good::good::good:
Hi xda!
I recently got a HTC One from a friend, as my old phone was worn out. It turned out he had rooted it, tampered with it, the whole nine yards. I was not told he had rooted it, so I accepted a prompt asking me to update the phone to what I believe was 4.4.2, KitKat. I now realize that should not have been done. When the phone restarted it went to the HTC startup logo, into a kind of blue screen (not the BSOD), the Google logo flashed on the screen for 0.5 seconds, and then it got stuck on this weird blue/turqoise screen. Nothing happened.
I called my friend, he told me he rooted it etc., and that I should try a factory reset, and if that didn't work, complete reset (including the system folder wipe). That obviously didn't work, but I didn't know any better as I have never touched a rooted phone in my life, and I'm thus a complete noob when it comes to terminology, what steps to take and so on.
Now I have a phone with no OS, stuck at the HTC logo when I start it normally, and all I can do is boot up into bootloader. I can also access TWRP. I have installed HTC Sync on my laptop, but the phone is not detected properly (meaning, the "device connected" sound is played, and I can find "Android device" in device manager, but the HTC Sync can't find the phone) when connected through a USB. It is not the USB that came with the phone. I also installed Squabbi's HTC One toolkit, which basically is the one-click interface of pushing revone etc. to the phone. Problem is, "error, device not detected".
I've browsed around for a good six hours without any luck, other than that I've started to understand how this is all connected.
Phone is
*TAMPERED*
*UNLOCKED*
M7_UL
S-ON
HBOOT 1.44.0000
RADIO-4A.14.3250.13
OpenDSP-v26.120.274.0202
eMMC-boot
I pray to the mighty tech gods of xda to help me out. I looked for similar threads, couldn't find any that were simple and similar enough for me to understand. I must admit I'm very keen to learn this, so if someone know of any place where basic terminology is explained, I'd really appreciate that. Other than that, a step by step instruction on how to proceed from this cluster**** would also be highly appreciated (what I need installed on my laptop, where I can find ROM's, what flashing means etc.).
Thank you in advance!

well a lot of the work seems to already be done
your unlocked / rooted which means you should have a custom recovery installed.
boot the phone by holding the power + volume down
this will bring up the bootloader. use the volume key to choose recovery aand hit the power button. when you boot into recovery come back and report the name and version of recovery. I.E. Teamwin recovery 2.5.0.0 or clockworkmod 6.0.3.1 ...I'll be here the next couple hrs

Version of TWRP is 2.5.0.0. Currently trying to re-install an OS. Need one that the current version of TWRP can flash to the phone, as flashing a new version of TWRP does not work. I have no preferences when it comes to OS's. A stock OS (is OS and ROM the same thing?) would be fine.
Also, found out that doing stuff on a Windows 7 laptop was easier than on my own Windows 8. The phone is at least detected on the Windows 7, which means I will be able to flash stuff to it through cmd, something I wasn't able to do from the Windows 8.

Well your going to need adb / fastboot on your PC
use mine here >> https://www.dropbox.com/s/0wzwt8843zx27nh/Fastboot.zip
and install the HTC Drivers here >> http://www.mediafire.com/download/j55vk6qbbr6250c/HTCDriver_4.8.0.002.exe
unzip that to c:\ so you have c:\fastboot in windows explorer
now inside the folder you shift + right click / command prompt here
now you have a command prompt window type
fastboot getvar all
and post the result here / minus your serial number and IMEI
then i can find you the correct recovery and rom for your phone

great your about done ...your phone will be android 4.3 when it finishes
don't take any updates to the OS
cmd said it sent the ROM to the phone. I was in the TWRP adb sideload on my phone when it was transferred. Then that was it. 100% on cmd. Phone shut down. Suddenly discovered I had to install on the phone. WAT. I do so, then wait until completion. I anxiously restart the phone. It's alive again!
Really, thanks so much clsA! You made me a very happy person! :victory:

So i was trying to get my at&t htc one back to 100% stock so i could send it in for warranty. I got my replacement htc one, but while in the process of going back to stock something happened the phone wont load into recovery, when it boots into the os it stays at the htc screen but plays the at&t boot animation sound, and to top it off the old phone wont connect properly through usb (the new one will just fine). So i am stuck in bootloader anyone have any ideas?

I don't know what you mean by I pushed the FUU and flashed it. do you mean you flashed firmware?
If you flashed a custom hboot with no red text you will brick the phone when you lock the bootloader.
Don't lock bootloader !!
Use this tool to remove Tampered and set to Locked
Guru_Bootloader_Reset_1.0.zip
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358538585
MD5: fdb8264a8f4741bae22939cd7734f7c2
at this point just flash the AT&T RUU
http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_...13_10.38j.1157.04_release_334235_signed_2.exe
and see where your at.
From the Guide you linked
Before you can proceed with the 2 following threads for removing Tampered and then Locking you need to have Superuser installed. There are links to how to do this in each thread. You can also use this toolkit. Just remember to delete the SuperUser and busybox apk if installed before you return the phone.
2. - First remove the Tampered Flag. Instructions are in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2477792
3. - Second Lock the bootloader. Instructions are in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475914
The older REVONE commands/instructions for Tampered and Locking:
Now since you had to install SuperUser to perform the previous 2 steps make sure you unroot by deleting the Superuser.apk and busybox.apk (If installed) from the /system/app folder and also the su binary from /system/xbin on your phone.
If you ran a RUU your systems firmware and software is all reset back to stock. If you restored via Stock ROM reset or Nandroid you should be running the stock software but it could be on non stock (version mismatch) firmware.
In either case your bootloader should display Locked and no Tampered just like out of the box. Now all that’s left is to S-On. To do that issue this fastboot command:
Code:
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
Done - device should be just like it was out of the box with no indication of any modding.
*******I am not responsible for any problems you encounter. I am simply informing you of what is needed to complete a restoration to Stock. Read all steps and commands carefully and perform them in the correct order.********

Windows 8.1 and hboot 1.44 don't get along
you'll have to use a driver hack to get it working
Both windows 8.1 like i said the weird part is one phone works perfect through usb the old one (the one i need to work) doesn't

yeah .. here's the driver hack to make it work
Download
I repeat this is a REALLY DIRTY solution that may harm your system, personal data, hardware and/or cat.
Here are the steps:
0. Have a Linux or Windows LiveCD just in case something goes wrong
1. Download and extract files from attachment
2. Navigate to the folder corresponding to your system version (x86 = 32-bit, x64 = 64 bit)
3. Right-click franken-usb.bat and click "Run as Administrator"
5. Wait for it to finish and reboot the system. If everything went fine, you will boot your system successfully
6. Install ADB/Fastboot drivers just like on Windows 8
7. Connect your phone in Fastboot mode to your USB 2.0 port and check if it works
8. Enjoy and wait for official fix
How does it work:
It's not any kind of magic - it just replaces Windows 8.1's usbhub.sys and usbport.sys with Windows 8's ones.
Old files don't check for BOS descriptor so Fastboot can work.
Script updated - it should now actually copy the files but please double check if files were copied to C:\Windows\system32\Drivers!
Hope it helps you!
Regards!

Ok thank you very much i will try this when i get home from work tomorrow and hopefully its works for me then i can just follow the guide you posted to get back to stock then all will be good
im still getting the same issue with the drivers i made sure to manually install the files but still no luck.
Have you tried a Linux live boot disc? If you have troubles with Windows drivers, always fall back to Linux as it will always work if the device isn't faulty.

Manual system update instructions:
If you are outside of T-Mobile/Wi-Fi coverage, or the update is not found, you may perform a manual system update. This process requires that you download and install HTC Sync Manager first in order to get the proper drivers. If you do not have HTC Sync Manager installed already, you may download the software from http://www.htc.com/www/software/htc-sync-manager/.
WARNING: Performing the system update manually will delete all information from the device. Ensure all information is backed up before proceeding. See the Help & How To section of this website for more information on backing up your device contents.
Performing the ROM Update:
1. Download and save the HTC One™ for T-Mobile ROM update to your PC.
2. Connect your device to your PC via the supplied USB cable.
3. If the device is not recognized by the PC, ensure you have HTC Sync Manager installed and then disconnect and reconnect the device from the USB cable.
4. Once the device is properly recognized on the PC, locate the HTC One™ for T-Mobile ROM Update that you downloaded. Double-click on the file to launch the system update wizard.
5. Follow all of the system update wizard instructions shown on your PC.
6. Once the update is complete, click Finish in the Wizard and the device will reboot.
7. Once the device reboots, the initial setup wizard will appear.
8. Once the initial setup process is complete, the device is ready for use.
Note: If the ROM update wizard fails to recognize the device, close the wizard and then follow the steps below:
· From a powered off state, hold VOLUME DOWN while powering on the device.
· Use the volume buttons to scroll to FASTBOOT and then press the POWER button to select it.
· Connect the device to the PC while in this state and attempt the ROM update again.
To exit FASTBOOT manually, use the volume keys to navigate to REBOOT and press the POWER button to select it.

Hey. I got a problem with my beloved M7. Few days ago I gave a chance to CM12, but I got bored of it and tried to flash InsertCoin 4.0.5. Everything went well but now my phone boots up and locks the screen. If I unlock the screen, a green HTC logo on white background appears. After few seconds of showing the logo the phone reboots and locks the screen again. I can freely access the TWRP, but I have no backup and I lost CM12 installing files. Please can someone help me bring my lovely phone back to life?

Prerequisites:
You need ADB and FASTBOOT on your computer,
either by installing the Android SDK or Minimal ADB and FASTBOOT
You need to know how to start a fastboot/adb command prompt:
To open a command window prompt, in Windows go to Start Menu --> ''Run'' then type cmd. Change the directory to the ADB folder on your machine:
If using the default install location for the SDK:
Code:
cd C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-<DATE>\sdk\platform-tools
If using the default install location of Minimal ADB and FASTBOOT:
Code:
cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
Or hold left shift + right click a blank space inside the folder where adb and fastboot are located and select ''Open command window here'' from the contextual menu.

You need TWRP recovery on your device.
We still recommend to use version 2.6.3.3 for all roms
except if another version is specified in the rom OP.
Use 2.7.1.1+ for roms that require "block:by-name" support (CM11)
Unlock bootloader if not already unlocked:
Thanks to Electroz for the video tutorial
Flash TWRP Recovery:
Make sure the recovery.img file is in the same folder where adb and fastboot are located
(C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-<DATE>\sdk\platform-tools or C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot)
reboot phone in bootloader mode
Flash the recovery:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
You need your HTC drivers correctly installed on your PC:
If not, follow this guide (thanks to nkk71):
originally from @nkk71: [GUIDE] [02-MAR-2014] nkk71's SuperGUIDE to returning 100% back to stock
follow the below instructions to fix
Open "Device Manager" -> select the unknown "One" -> right-click -> "Update Driver Software ..." -> "Browse my computer" -> "Let me pick" -> "Android USB Devices" -> select "My HTC ..." -> install that
just in case, HTC Drivers can be found here: [Drivers] HTC Drivers for Windows - Several Versions (credits to @mdmower)
though you should already have them since you have been using your phone any ways
for those who like a visual guide:
okay so I did a fastboot boot command, and as you can see it didn't install correct driver
Open "Device Manager"
there's the culprit
right click and Update Driver Software
select Browse my computer for driver software
select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
select Android USB Devices
select My HTC ... (if you have more than one version, choose the latest)
warning, select Yes
successful installation
now it looks better
and can confirm:
Code:

Here is a list of the HTC M7 roms. Some other roms can be found here.
Connect your phone to computer using usb cable
(if not using the official HTC USB calble, make sure
you are using a USB data cable and not only a charging
cable. Data cables have 4 contacts: 5V, GND, DATA+, DATA-.
Charging cable only have 5V and GND contact and will not work)
Reboot phone in recovery mode (TWRP):
If phone is booted in OS:
Code:
adb reboot recovery
if not booted or bootlooping, hold power button + volume down until phone boot in bootloader mode
then select BOOTLOADER then RECOVERY using volume up/down to navigate and power button to select.
Make sure your phone is booted in TWRP main menu:
transfer the rom to your /sdcard folder:
Code:
adb push name_of_rom.zip /sdcard/
Wait for the zip file to transfer, this can take several minutes (5-15) and there is no progress bar, the command prompt will be unresponsive for that duration. When the command prompt is responsive again and display how much bytes transferred in X seconds, the transfer is completed:
In TWRP main menu, select ''INSTALL''
Browse the installation menu and select your rom zip file inside /sdcard folder:
Swipe to confirm you want to flash the rom

First you should edit you post and remove your imei. You don't want to make that public
If you could post the output of

it would be helpful you should also remove your imei and serial number before posting :good:
but the fact the imei and baseband don't display Unknown in settings is good

Well, I struggled almost 2 hours in order to get "getvar all" logs and nothing happened. When I enter ADB command - "adb devices" it lists my phone below but as an offline device. I tried over and over using guides linked by majmoz and this one -

To get the getvar info your Device should be in the bootloader in fastboot usb mode.
Then send the fastboot getvar all command.
@Danny201281 Yeah, I tried to do this in fastboot mode. Windows pop up says that there is unrecognized device connected, what shouldn't have even happened because I have the latest HTC drivers(2.0.7.27) from HTC Sync.

It's common for Windows drivers to fail like this. You can check in device manager you phone should be listed a "MY HTC"
Other than that try connecting to a different usb port. USB2.0 ports are best. :good:

We need to know your CID, MID and Version Main which is all in the getvar. In any case you will need fastboot working to flash your firmware.
If your Device is s-off that's good you don't want to go back to s-on for any reason. In any case going back to s-on also requires fastboot. Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54272479
This is my guide for setting up Linux on a bootable usb pen drive. It will eliminate any driver issues

I tried to follow your guide on virtual machine because I simply don't know how to boot from pendrive on my laptop. Now Linux can't even see my One After typing "sudo adb devices" command, there is blank list of devices attached, and when I typed "sudo adb reboot bootloader" an error popped up "error: device not found".

Sorry i can't help with adb/fastboot problems when running Linux as a VM. I've never used linux as a virtual machine in windows, and your knowledge of Windows it's self is probably better than mine especially Windows 8. I'm confident there is no problem with your device this is a connectivity issue most probably caused by drivers. Hopefully @majmoz or @clsA can help you get it working on windows 8.
Although booting your laptop from a usb shouldn't be that difficult. You just need to change the boot order in the bios. The bios can be accessed normally by pressing "Delete" or "F2" during the first boot screen on your laptop. Then change the boot settings so that USB is the first boot device. What make is your laptop?

It's Lenovo y50-70; bios is completly hidden from the user - that's why I can't boot it from pendrive. I will try to follow your hints asap as I get access to my PC at home

Ok cool, Sorry man i'm not big on Windows. I use linux as my main OS although my pc dual boot Windows 7 but I use that mainly for gaming. If linux got a little more gamer love I wouldn't use windows at all
As far as I know Windows 8 can bit a bit finicky when it comes to android phones although I know there are plenty that use it without any problems.

Thanks @clsA that's exactly why I tagged you in my post. I know from previous posts that you use Windows 8 without problems :good: I don't know where to start with Windows 8. Never used it and doubt I ever will. If it was in front of me I dare say I could figure it out. But over the forum I'm just poking around in the dark when it comes to windows 8
