Hey everybody. If you hate BlinkFeed like I do, here's how you can get it out of your way, this info came straight from HTC.
To turn BlinkFeed off on your HTC One M8, check this out: http://s.htc.com/1lrBnbX. To turn it off on your One M8, slide two fingers together while on the feed and tap BlinkFeed On to toggle it off.

You can also go in to settings/personlize/manage home screen pages and remove it completely or touch and hold to add widgets and turn it off there in the top left corner you will see a little blue square that lets you toggle it on or off. I think this is a NEW feature in KitKat . Because I am running the stock rom ust bootloader unlocked and rooted is all I have done so far.
I use the Google Now Launcher, so no issues for me.

How did you get the Google now launcher to work?
Sent from my 831C using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I followed the instructions on the first link when googling "Google Now Launcher digital trends" Sorry, about not linking. I'm a new user here so I can't post link.
the PrebuiltGmsCore.apk and Velvet.apk seemed to fail install, but the GoogleHome.apk did install and everything seems to work. All in all, I've been enjoying it. I liked the Themer launcher too, but the Google Now Launchers always listening "OK Google" feature has been too nice to give up. I'm not positive but I think the Google Now Launcher is burning through a little more battery life.

You'll have to do a Google search for it, it will be an .apk file.

Thanks! I keep getting parsing errors so I downloaded the apk to my computer and transferred it over. Works great!

I highly recommend Google Now Launcher for which you need to download the apk and side load it, as well as Xposed GELS to completely customize your screen.

I use SPB Shell as my home replacement. My problem is I cant set the stock home app as default. When I hit the home button it always goes to SPB Shell even when I have the stock home app set to default and have cleared SPB Shell as the default. I use the Home switcher app from the market and set the stock app as the default. When I clear the default on SPB Shell and hit the home button the stock home app doesnt even show up as an option. Is anyone else having this issue and does any one know of a fix?
The same thing happened for me with launcherpro to go back to stock i had to uninstall LP. I actually like the stock launcher better for the first time ever than LP.
It may be just me, but my screen looks much more vibrant when using SPB Shell. The colors actually look sharper. I have shown it to others and they think the same also.

First off for what SPB Shell 3D costs of course I'm going to install it, for principal if nothing else. I do however really like it. Secondly I want the option and ability to switch between home replacements if I want to.
has anyone using other launchers like launcher pro go launcher or adw, tried to freeze the stock launcher. i know that most roms come with a market launcher already loaded and therefore there is no stock launcher.
So any ideas if running a market launcher, that freezing the stock launcher would be ok or not
any ideas
There is an app called Homesmack that fixes the issue with the launcher defaults.

Hi guys,
Running ARHD 12.2. I was wondering if there is a way to replace the sense lock screen with AOSP and also use lock screen widgets, like dashclock.
I would like to avoid widget locker as I'm not thrilled with its functionality.
In my searching, I've come across a few posts alluding to doing this but I have my found explicit directions. If anyone could provide a step by step (or a link to one) set of directions, that would be very much appreciated!
Thanks,
J

Navigate to /system/app and rename HTCLockscreen.apk to HTCLockscreen.apk.bak. Reboot. Voila! AOSP Lockscreen. But to keep the widgets I had to dirty flash from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 so I'm not 100% if you'll have working widgets, though I don't see why not.

A word of advice - while this trick will work, you still might be disappointed. The reason being is the fact that with the aosp lockscreen the phone stays locked even when a call comes in! So to take the call you will have to enter PIN first (my phone is PIN locked). Voila...

HTC Flip for Kitkat (Sense 5.5)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.NxIndustries.Flip
Rgocal talks HTC Flip for KK on G+ https://plus.google.com/100201209156317802250/posts/jPk5NSMxCit
HTC Flip is an application of an idea Ive had for Sense users to easily "Flip" or switch from one launcher to another. In another words...Your using Aviate launcher or a custom themed Nova Launcher setup but you wanna check out your Blinkfeed on Sense5 really quick or switch back to Sense4 quickly for something. HTC Flip will allow you todo just that. Simply as it stands, its currently only a home manager for Sense but with a little effort, I could add a few extra tweaks in there without the need of Root priviledges.
Simple use of the app...Install, Launch, Pick a Launcher you want to switch to..., done. Press Home on your device to simply "Flip" back to your default Launcher.
Currently in order to switch back to Blinkfeed, these would be your options...
Create a custom Widget with Buzz Custom Widget linked to the Sense5 Launcher Activity
Create a custom shortcut using an advance launcher (for EX: Xperia Raral Launcher allows custom activity shortcuts)
Clear your defaults
Exposed Framework (Root)
HTC FLIP does not currently support Kitkat, Flip for KK is your substitute and pro version
Thats a marvelous idea because in a third party launcher you can use pop up widget if you had access to the app in question to one click access it. I personally only use Sense because I love the Sense music widget and app because it has the gracenotes connected. It would be awesome to be able to access all of sense's apps from a third party launcher! Everybody would buy that

---------- Post added at 12:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:18 PM ----------
Heres a guide that shows how to get a shortcut on the third party launcher from Sense activities like blinkfeed
Using a third party launcher such as ADW, Nova, or Apex provides much more customization than Sense 5, but since Blinkfeed is part of the Sense 5 launcher, you will immediately lose Blinkfeed.
To get access to Blinkfeed with one of these launchers, follow these steps:
1. Clear the defaults of the current default homescreen launcher. This is done under SETTINGS/APPS. Click on the default launcher. Scroll down and find the clear defaults button. Click it.
2. Press the home key. You should now have a choice of which launcher to use. Select HTC Sense.
Click "One Time Only".
3. Delete all home screens except blink feed. Clear the apps out of the dock. (Optionally you can keep the homescreens and icons in the dock if you wish, deleting them makes a clean Blinkfeed only setup that I prefer).
4. Press Home. This time choose you preferred launcher and tap Always. This should take you to your home screen under the new launcher.
5. Create a custom shortcut. In most launchers you long press the homescreen and choose add or add shortcut. When asked to what you want to create a shortcut you will be choosing an Activity, not an App. In the list of activities, scroll down to HTC Sense. Click it. Choose HTC sense (Launcher) or HTC Sense com.htc.Launcher.Launcher depending on which launcher you are using.
6. You now have a shortcut icon that will take you to Blinkfeed. Clicking the icon will open Blinkfeed. Clicking home again returns you to your preferred launcher homescreen.
That's it!
Variations on above include setting the HTC Sense launcher as the default so that hitting home opens blinkfeed, while another icon is created to your preferred launcher.

I perfer my ONE not rooted myself. I perfer to use it for what it was made for, not to ruin it. "Been drooling over the MIUI rom tho, but not the point"
Il start development for this after I wrap things up over at the Razr forums. Rom developing takes it out of you as well as my toolkit. "Links below in sig"

Yes, on Sprint
Nice another dev for Sprint, theres a few making good roms and theming but we could badly use more
First look at an early build of HTC Flip. Basing it off of a Home Manager like user interface and integrating the Sense SDK into it. Looking into adding more shortcuts for the Sense Launcher and Blinkfeed as Launcher Shortcuts. Basically at the moment, It works by the user clicking on the app and selecting blinkfeed when they want to view it while useing another launcher like Apex or ADW. They can also manage their installed launchers. Nothing complicated, Nothing requiring root, something simple and small.

Has anyone had problems with the lock screen widgets. I apply a widget but my phone won't unlock. When I swipe to unlock it just go right back to the lock screen. It just loops over and over. The only way to unlock the phone is to swipe on one of the shortcuts on the bottom of the screen to go to app from the shortcut but not the home screen.

Looks pretty bad yeah, I used the analog clocks instead, still doesn't look good. But the problem is the widgets are not clickable. I read something about them not being scrollable too, which may explain why they're not clickable. I'm looking for a lock screen replacement that allows for widgets but no dice yet. Only that ugly lockscreen widget app.

To add lockscreen widgets, go to settings > personalize > lock screen and change it to widgets
Any widget I used gets stuck in a loop and I can't unlock the phone. I had "battery widget reborn" and when I try to place it even on the home screen it locks the screen and it gets stuck. Maybe it's a bug in "battery widget reborn"?
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk 4
I noticed to get the widgets to work, you have to drag down on the widget (you'll see a blue box being dragged down,) then you should be able to use it.
I ended up getting widget locker. It's actually pretty awesome. Thanks to HTC's 25 bucks haha. 3 bucks ain't so bad either. Now I have a stock lock screen with better widget support.

I figured out the problem. I had to uninstall "battery reborn" app. It was causing a glitch in the lock screen. My widget now works like it should.

Ah, sorry, I wasn't clear. I'm not trying to remove the launcher apk, I added a home screen to the right when I was playing around with the Google Experience Launcher, I just want to remove that extra home screen so I have the main one and Google Now to the left.
