Ok, before I get "noobed" or told to read, I've read so many threads my head is starting to hurt.
I have an HTC One that I bought from someone on craigslist. I bought a "bring your own phone" kit for Straight Talk that says it's for "4G LTE and HSPA+".
I have rooted the phone, have S-Off, it says it's Unlocked on the bootloader screen, running hboot 1.56, radio 1.00.20.1108.
When I put in the sim card I don't get any message about simlock
Is this going to be able to work or am I beating a dead horse trying to get this thing working? I'll flash whatever or do whatever I need to do.
If it isn't going to work, I'll just throw it on ebay I guess

glad youve read up already... ive read a bit myself. heres what i have for you
http://forums.team-nocturnal.com/in...-super-cid-for-the-htc-one-m7-ul-models-only/
this explains a bit of removing the cid lock on your phone. read the article if you havnt already. it explains all you need for all carriers. ive done a few straight talk change overs before...you def are going to need a rom that has epst built in or find an .apk for the one. you will have to use this to configure the phone to flash. but you must have the cid unlocked first. i hope this helps.

thanks but I'm not sure what that is supposed to do...does it change my phone from being sprint to a different carrier so it's easier to use the sim for straight talk?

there are two diff locks that a carrier may administer to keep a device on there network. one is the sim lock, the other is the cid. in your case, since youve already sim unlocked (if you havnt you need to.) you would need to do the cid unlock to be able to use your phone on straight talk network. whoch was step by step in the link i posted. wrapping this all up, cid unlock allows you to switch from the sprint network to straight talk. without it it wont work. so after you cid unlock...youll be programming your phone onto straight talks network, which us explained in their kit or you can call their cs #
also, calling their cs # is adviseable due to this....all the phones ive flashed over were from spriint. they do not have sim cards. never needed to put a straight talk sim in. only had to program the phone through epst,,,which is what allows you to input ## command codes through yiur dialer. all i think you should have to do is cid unlock and program onto straight talks network through epst.
Ok so I used the Super CID and it changed it to all 1's, now what? Do you have any ideas what the next step should be to getting this working on straight talk? I'm sorry for being "noobish" but I'm just at my wits end and am giving up hope on this working.
guess there's nothing left to do but sell it on craigslist or ebay....because I'm guess the Sprint HTC One on Straight Talk just doesn't work or at least doesn't work with the sim cards available in my area.
I have tried everything and no dice

anymore news on this?
Can someone please confirm that they actually have a SPRINT HTC ONE on STRAIGHT TALK?
i've been reading and reading and cant find a dfinitive answer or guide on how to actually get the SPRINT HTC ONE on straighttalk, all i've read so far are people who say "it cant be done" and other people saying "it can be done"
There is no definitive answer I have done unlock and changed radio and os as well as hboot and still nothing I just don't think it can be done for straight talk

ST has a CDMA option. You cant use this with CDMA but the GSM bands don't match up that well so you'll be left with spotty or no service. Not sure if you'll get LTE but 3G shouldn't be problem

Hello Everyone,
I've done a bit of searching but still can't find out if i'm having an issue or if this is the way it's suppose to work. This is my first experience with an Unlocked phone as well as Android. So here's the story.
I rooted my phone and then used the Unlock Pro to unlock it. I ordered an AT&T Sim card from Ebay, which arrived last week. I put the Sim card in my phone and it boots up, everything seems fine except that it says "No Service". I contacted AT&T and they confirmed that the Sim is active and it should be working.
To make sure that my phone was unlocked. I used the program to lock it again "with the rogers SIM in it" and then put in the AT&T sim and I was asked for an Unlock Code. So I took that to mean that it was properly unlocked. So I unlocked it again, and then put the Sim in but still "No Service".
I tried to put in the APN settings that I found on a site, but not sure if they are correct. and now i'm at a loss. I had purchased this for an upcoming trip to the states, but don't want to put any money on the account if it's not going to work.
I guess my first question is this "Should a new sim work out of the box?" i.e. should I be able to put in and get service even though I would be roaming in Canada?? Or do I have to be in the states first before it will work and allow me to roam in canada?
Any help you guys can provide or explaination on how it "should" work, would be great.
Well....does att provide service in canada? I don't know if rogers is part of att or not. If they don't I would assume the sim would not work because of no att towers?
Thanks for getting back to me. Rogers is not part of AT&T but they use the same GSM Frequency. So anyone travelling up here on AT&T would use the rogers towers (I believe).
That's why I'm thinking I need to be in the states before the SIM will work.
I would call att back and ask them if the case. Makes sense to me, but I'm nobody.
actually Rogers is owned by att. it is AT&T rogers wireless~!
but that does not mean that it should work.
APN settings are for data, you should still be able to make calls...
LOLOL cute
Ya i think I will do that tonight. When I was talking to them last time, the woman didn't really understand why i couldn't connect. but then again i don't think she really understood that I was in canada. LOL
Canada has the internet? Lol

Wow I'm still running with my 9800 Baud modem. Saving up for a 14.4.
Bing bong biiiiiiiing.....ahhhh the soothing sounds of dialup....those were the days.
I just tried the SIM again, seeing if maybe after a week it might just work now but ya no luck. you never know it could happen. LOLOL I'm wondering if I need to get a roaming package added to the Go Phone plan that i'm on before it will work. Gonna call customer support and find out
Since this is my first time with anything like this I'm not really sure about anything LOL
Okay so I just called at&t customer support. Didn't start off so well. First the guy told me that don't offer any service nor can any AT&T customer roam in canada. then he placed me on hold when I asked him to confirm, and he came back saying that AT&T doesn't off roaming in canada on their pay as you go phones. So i guess I can believe that one
Looks like i'll have to put some money on the sim and then hope it works when I go down there, Thanks everyone for all your help and suggestions.
Hi, I have an HTC One that I bought on craigslist. The phone can make calls and text fine but no data at all. I've done all the resets and programming with Sprint but I have no data. The 3g icon does appear but thats it. Finally the rep said I'm either rooted or flashed, since I know I'm not rooted I figure maybe I'm flashed. How can I tell? I have several codes from them from working withthem today so any of the menus are accessable to me.
Thank you
Edit: Went to sprint and they put a SIM in temporarily to see if that helped my issue. One has to be sent from SPrint Care. Anyway, without the SIM you'll get all kinds of issues so dont buy or sell without it.
ONce the sim was in the boot animation even had a sprint animation before the One animation, was not like that when I brought it in. Also, under data, all the options reappeared. They did not load any software for me. Simply reset the phone again and placed a provisioned SIM in for me. 3g was still down so I have a faulty phone but its interesting what differences that SIM made.

one way to check is to enter the bootloader
Turn off the phone
Hold down the power button and the volume down button until the screen turns on
at the top you should see the status of the bootloader. if someone flashed it with a custom rom it will say unlocked and tampered.

Would this means that my phone was/is a sprint phone from the start and that there is another issue? Settings also shows the model as a PN072.

That is locked bootloader and S-On. Looks like that phone is stock. If you have the MSL I would try ##DATA# on the dialer and go edit mode, profile, menu and reset profile. That will go through handsfree and set it up correctly. If you don't have the MSL call/chat with Sprint and get them to walk you through doing a profile reset/handsfree activation.

Thanks for the help. I've been through all those steps already. My next step is to have them replace it. I just wanted to be sure this phone wasnt from another carrier and was flashed to the sprint network. But like you said its stock so I think I'm all set. Makes sense that if this came from another carrier they would have to unlock it first which wouldnt give that bootloader status.
You can't really tell if a phones been unlocked before since with revone u can lock the bootloader like u never unlocked it in the offer place. Can't u also edit the hboot to mask it?

I think I remember when I had the Evo LTE that you could do that. I guess as long as the sprint rep can believe its a phone issue and use my insurance I'll be fine. The sprint rep from phone tech support said they could tell if it was flashed from another carrier but wouldnt say how so I came here. Tomorrow I'll take it into a store to swap it.

You will not need insurance (unless you damaged it physically). If the rep does not see it was tampered with they will warranty one out to you free of charge. I have bought a few phones off craigslist and had no issues with this. You need to go to a full service Sprint Store. The one by me does repairs/warranty exchanges in house.

Thats the whole confusion for me. Whether or not this phone is a sprint phone or from another carrier flashed over to sprint since I cant get data. The hboot and model number in settings seem to indicate a sprint phone. Very strange to me. Theres no SU on this or any indication of any tweaks which would defeat the purpose of this being some custom ROM and the HBOOT is locked. Seems stock already. Just weird. I'm pretty confused.
I'm taking it to sprint to try and swap it. If not I will check other methods to get it workign. S-off or dev unlock and put another ROM on it.

Hello,
I have a couple of questions, that I'm hoping can be fixed so I can finally retire my HTC Dinc.
Upon purchasing the Sprint variant of the HTC ONE I made sure my carrier uses the exact model, so I got a used black colored one.
Anyways, i brought the phone in for activation waited a few hours for the tech person to come into work and a few mintues later they informed me i need an spc code to unlock the phone so he can program it. Ive been reading lots of threads about spc codes/unlocking and stuff but t always mentions msl, is msl and spc the same thing in regards to unlocking something.
My carrier uses cdma for its devices, are these sim unlock tuts what im looking for in order to activate my phone?.
What ive done so far however has been a failure, ive tried calling sprint, no go. Ive also tried the no root, no calling sprint mother that failed also*I was a public PC and its running xp maybe it failed cause of that* .
Right now the device is with a shop that does unlocking phones and I've link him to the methods I've tried, but he says it won't work with the 4.3 ota. He also mentions he would ha e to downgrade to 4.2 in order to unlock.
To sum it all up in a nutshell, does obtaining the spc/msl code in fact enable my carrier to activate the phone?
Also do these methods mention above only work on 4.2 and below?
Its been about a week since I've received the phone and my dinc is really starting to show its age, and would like a breath of fresh air.
Thanks in advance!!

Yes the SPC is the MSL. They use it to input their carrier specific settings. Edit: Here is a link to getting the SPC/MSL http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2254578

But I'm still confused, are the links for sim unlock? It states it'll be using gsm/uxxx stuff.
My carrier will be using CDMA I believe so is sim sorta the same thing or?
I do not want to root now till I get the device activated though, but if root is required then so be it.

Well you dont need root to get the MSL. Yea that link was for SIM unlock. The person who is activating your phone shouldn't need that. I put it there just in case : P Cheers!

In that case I wonder why hes saying about needing to downgrade cause the guide is for before 4.3 or something. I don't think hes doing it right IMO and I also think I can just do it myself.
The sim unlock link is a good read, it has steps to downgrading and all that which has got me wondering, if I do it, will I be able to use lte. I know this is an HTC one thread but this idea got me thinking, ATM there is only one phone on my carrier that does 4g lte which is the LG AS840 and I've checked the specs of it and the One and they match freqs for the lte side of things, what I'm saying is that will my carrier be able to make the lte function like with the LG AS840 device, if so then awesome if not oh well. What would make it NOT work with One, my carrier using phones from various stateside vendors, I wonder what they did to make the lte work on the LG AS840.
Anyways if the person has no luck then i will try and do it myself *save $50 in the process as well*.
Thanks again!!

If they are reprogramming your phone to work with another CDMA carrier then the SIM unlock will probably not help. Also you probably won't be able to do it yourself. I say probably because i've never seen it NOT done but I haven't seen anyone doing it either. It is a global phone so most people are sim unlocking to use it over seas. The thread I linked regarding SIM unlocking has an RUU that will bring you back down to 4.1 which is the initial software release when the phone first came out. That should be sufficient. Send him a direct link to that file and see if he can use it. It's just a simple program that does everything on it's own. Remember though the process will completely wipe your phone and internal sdcard.

your SPC is the same as MSL, It is a security code used by carriers to enable some settings to be changed in the phone, your SPC/MSL is easily obtainable using software, I use CDMA workshop for stuff like that because it is very easy, there is other software that will read it for you but I think root is required, whoever the carrier of the phone is will also be able to provide it to you.

But does he HAVE to downgrade the device to obtain the no root, no calling sprint way to get the msl code? Cause what I'm seeing is that there is no need to downgrade or root to get the msl code*this is what i need to activate the device and possibly save $50* , money aside though if he does it great, but ive been waiting a bit since I received the phone.

Cause what I'm seeing is that there is no need to downgrade or root to get the msl code*this is what i need to activate the device and possibly save $50* , money aside though if he does it great, but ive been waiting a bit since I received the phone.
Again thanks for your time.

Yea you're right. He shouldn't need to downgrade to get the MSL. If all he needs is the MSL then no downgrade needed.
How about the use of 4g lte?
It baffles me that my carrier has it in the as840 device, will I be able to utilize it with the One or my mileage may vary?
So it turns out he was unable to downgrade, he says he tried every method he can. I don't think he has the right info on the table tbh, I will try tkmorrow when I have access to a PC. Makes me laugh a little inside, he's the GO TO guy for stuff, while I'm the GO TO guy at work for stuff like this*sorry for the ranting*.
Thanks again!!
Edit/update.
Through the msl thread someone posted a .apk file of msl utility.
Good news: the app installed and it DID show me the msl code.
Bad news*sorta*: I won't be able to check if the code works, if its even the right code. In other words I don't know the credibility of the app itself.
*crosses fingers* when I go to activate the phone.
Sorry for my bad English.
Does anybody know how to convert a Sprint One to an internation Htc One? My phone has already been s-off and supercid.
Thanks everyone.

Sadly, no. It's not possible since Sprint is CDMA.
You can unlock the SIM card slot which will let you use SIMs from international carriers. See the thread in the main Sprint HTC One forum.

I've already unlocked. Anyway, thanks.I also have a little problem about Data icon, my Sprint HTC One show GSM instead of H or 3G. The internet speed is quite slow.:crying:

Go to default.xml, and find sku_id (which is somewhere near the bottom) change the value 10 to 42, and you should be getting H/3G icons again.
!!
Ive been through hell with this, this past week.
Sprint m7
You would think once you root, rom, s-off, cid unlock, sim unlock and bake a cherry pi for it the damn thing would work with ATT compatible sim cards.
NOPE. well, sure, you can SOMETIMES trick it to get onto the network, but it doesnt stick, its not fast, and theres no data.
WHAT A PAIN.
I want to sell this now, but Im not even confident it will work on international GSM networks, even though the sim is unlocked (and cid unlocked!)
i dont think ill ever buy a non-international phone again. Well, my one X+ att flavor worked out ok, but there are so few roms for it... oh well...

You might have to downgrade to an older version of android though, because when I tried it, it didn't work. I believe I was on viperone at the time of testing.

i am fully vested in bringing this model phone back from whatever hell its been through now. stayed up till 2am last night reverting this thing back to stock after it went through all the OTA updates. I am an HTC one m7-wls master now
i wont be home until tomorrow, but i will be trying the fix in that link. i really hope it works.... i made a crystal clear call yesterday before i lost the network, so i KNOW this phone can talk to the towers near me on H2O plan... i just have to get the stupid software right.
OK, so I am done.
Recap (without getting boring)
I did the sim unlock, and also the "fix". FINALLY got the phone to register on H20. And I do have data too, but its GSM only (very slow). The only way I got any of this to work is be fully 4.1.2 stock.
It is set to WCDMA preferred.
also, even though I did the "fix" it still loses the network after a reboot.
I am so done with this phone. I am updating it fully and throwing it on ebay. F this thing! No more sprint phones for me, thank you.

First find out what your carriers settings are, like the APN settings. See if it's gsm cdma.. You can try going in the phones settings and checking them out open the dialing pad and *#*#4636#*#* and look around.
hi, thank you for your response, that menu was the first thing i tried lol, i put an o2 sim in and i got it to show the H symbol next to the signal bars which still had a cross on them, it also auto installed the apn settings other than that, no change

You cannot unlock the SIM card with a code from anywhere online it doesn't work that way because number one the SIM card in these phones is only to allow the phone to get LTE internet speeds number two the MEID is how the phone gets service not just the SIM card cause you can remove the SIM card and the entire phone will still work just without LTE number three you can't insert another carriers SIM card and then have the phone ask you to enter the unlock code because the phone will never ask for that code when you put another SIM in there it will just say invalid SIM card and nothing else and number four, the phone is unlocked via uicc and has to be done on the carriers side not some unlocking websites code....
Wow I had no idea, what do I do from here then? Is Contacting o2 my only option?

Well you said you sim unlocked it with success in this first post of yours right here and that's why both me and @dip_spit asked how you did that, you didn't say it wasn't legit then.

No. Because many people have gotten the unlock codes and not a single person can find a way for the phone to ask for it. Of course he IS in Europe and their rules are different there so he may have, who knows.
Sorry it takes so long to reply I still have this problem I'm goin to email the site

And you are expecting the "site" to do what exactly?
Why don't you just take your phone to your carrier and have them program it to use their services?!?!

It could be a legitimate unlocking site that he used and expected it to work with his 510 (which they probably don't say that they don't support it), in which case he can probably convince them to refund his money.
Or it could be a scam site, in which case he'll have to do a charge-back or something to get his money back.
Also, he could take it to his current carrier but given the evidence of previous users, they won't unlock and program it for their network because the likelihood of them being able to is slim to none.

It seems like he's screwed then. I unfortunately don't know how or what settings to use to help him with the issue. He did say "should I contact o2?" So I asummed he could contact them I guess.
