This is the second time happening. The first time I came from the previously supported Viper One Rom version from sprint, and when I flashed 5.8 I lose my recovery and just get stuck into bootloader. The second time I was coming from the recent Dirty Unicorns Rom, and the same thing happened. I'm currently using the latest Philz Recovery, and I did wipe my phone numerous times before flashing. Am I installing the wrong file? or Am I doing something else wrong? Also the only way it seems to come back from flashing the rom is using an RUU to get me back to stock. Flashing another ROM after ViperOne failing puts me in a bootloop.

... try flashing ViperOne with TWRP 2.6.3.0 at least. i think this is going to solve your problem ...
That's really weird.
I've flashed stock to insertcoin to viper 5.7 to viper 5.8 then to bad seeds sense six. I now go back and fourth between viper and sense six no problems at all.
I've only used twrp though, used 2.6 all the way to the newest 2.7.0.4 I believe it is.
What I do when I switch is:
Nandroid*optional*
Flash superwipe for twrp2*so it wipes clean the Rom*
Restore a previous nandroid*viper, stock, etc*
Clear cache and davlik cache.
Reboot.
That's all I do.
I stopped using cwm a while ago with my DINC, my power button was shot*couldn't press it cause it was damaged* at that time twrp had a touch based recovery*2.3.x I believe*, so been using twrp since then.

Hi, I probably performed a lot of stupid steps on my HTC One but this is what I did so far and could use some help. I have currently used the HTC all in one tool by hasoon2000. I had Android Revolution 6.0 and was working perfectly fine but then decided to install Android Revolution 7.0. Unforunately, I guess Clockwork Recovery doesn't like aroma installer because it froze halfway through the installation. I turned the phone off but it proceeded to freeze 3 more times. Eventually it got stuck into a boot loop. Then because I could not do anything, I cleared the dalvik, cache, system, and data. I have erased the cache through fastboot and flashed a new boot.img of the old ROM. I am currently trying to install TrickDroid 5.1 on my phone but when I try to install TWRP recovery it will blink for a second then load back into bootloader. When I install either CW recovery or CW Touch, It works but the phone shuts down automatically into bootloader when I either attempt to factory reset, install zip from Rom, sideload Rom. Can anyone help me please? When I turn on the phone without going into boot lader it just stays on the htc logo, im assuming because there is not ROM installed right now.
hi mate post this on trickdroid thread someone there will help you out
First step is to make sure you don't use the touch screen while installing the rom. Use the volume keys and the power button to make selections. If that doesn't work, try a few other times. I had the same thing happen to me. If all else fails, try installing the maximus7 rom. That's the rom that installed for me without trouble and it'll at least get you a working phone until the other roms are fixed
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
All right I'll try to sideload the Maximus ROM. Some extra info, the cache won't mount at all.
Does anybody have any previous versions of CW recovery or TWRP i can flash onto my phone? I heard the newer recoverys aren't very compatible with aroma installer or the newer ROMs.

Always do 3 wipe, it should be eisier to pass the weired aroma installer frozen problem.
I have a Sprint HTC One M7WLS, unlocked, S-ON, Clockwork Recovery.
The problems started with me flashing Revolution HD. I wasn't aware Revolution wasn't available for the WLS (Sprint) model, so I installed it as 'International + Non-listed Models'. The phone booted up into the ROM after installation, but with limited connectivity. The phone would reboot about a minute after loading. I wiped Cache, Dalvik, System, SDCard, Data (everything CWM allows me to format). Reinstalled a new ROM, still experienced reboot issue. The new ROM (TrickMod) gave me a 'Process System Not Responding' error, and then a reboot about thirty seconds after error. All ROMs are having wifi issues. In initial setup, if I'm able to get the keyboard to type in the WiFi Password, my device refuses to connect due to 'temporarily avoiding poor connection' error. I believe this may be the root of, or related to my problems. I get no cellular signal, and am unable to launch 'Activate Device' on any ROM. So far all the ROMs I've tried include:
Revolution HD, TrickMod, SuperNexus, and D3rp. Not all give the 'Process System Not Responding' error, but none of them can connect to WiFi, none can activate the device, and all of them reboot about a minute or two after boot.
Any ideas or solutions?
---
PS: Before flashing Revolution HD (my phone was still running on factory stock ROM), I used TWRP to backup all partitions. After Revolution HD, I attempted to restore all partitions, but the phone would boot up, error, and reboot as with all other ROMs that I tried after this. I installed CWM for TrickMod, SuperNexus, and D3rp so I could sideload ROMs (TWRP would hang on sideload, and I can't boot into the system to transfer ROMs to the sdcard).
---
Edit: I also wiped Dalvik and Cache and Fixed Permissions after ROM install. Still erroring out.
CM 10.1
We can add CM 10.1 to the list of ROMs that don't work.
Have you tried the Ruu?

I downloaded the RUU. Using the All-in-One Toolkit informed me I needed to relock my device and restore stock recovery. I haven't done either of those things yet. I don't know how to reinstall stock recovery.
What exactly does the RUU do though?
Have you tried to flash a stock kernal as suggested above?
I haven't used the toolkit but I read it will relock the bootloader for you. The stock recovery will be flashed during the Ruu process.

Don't many of these ROMs flash their own kernels?
It's my understanding I'll need an unsecure boot.img to flash a stock kernel.
How do I unsecure my boot.img?
Where can I find stock kernel download?
Yes, the roms flash a kernal. Have you tried any of the sprint specific roms since this started happening? I would suggest you try one of viperboys roms.

All ROMs have been found on Sprint HTC One Development forums. Except Revolution HD, which I installed as 'International' since 'Sprint' wasn't an option. That's when everything went foul, including my Nandroid restores. This leads me to believe a botched install of Revolution is the cause of my problems.
I'm downloading Viper for Sprint One right now, give it a go.
Just tried Tranquility, still got reboot issues.
If Viper doesn't work, I'm going to try the RUU. RUU will flash stock kernel, correct?
RUU Worked!

I'm going to install a ROM now and mess it all up again xD
Thanks everyone!
I'm glad you got it figured out.
Hello, since I am a new user i am unable to post into the dev. board, it required 10 messages with at least 5min between each. (pretty retarded imo)
I am trying to flash the kernel Bulletproof 6,2 on my HTC One, i currently have the ARHD 20,2 mod installed, whenever i go into recovery mode, i can access the kernel just fine, i can follow the instruction but 2 things happen:
at the end when i click install bulletproof, either the device just reboot or simply stay at 0.00% for ever..
I read everything i could find about it and i don't know whats wrong with it :|
I also tried to install Elemental X and it did the same thing.
I really don't know whats wrong, also is there an easy way to update roms version ? from ARHD 20,2 to 21.0 ? or do i have to flash it and wipe everything everytime :|
thanks !
Do you have the latest version of twrp or cwm?
As far as updating, you can "dirty flash", or flash without wiping. It will save all your data and settings, but if you have any issues you will need to perform a full wipe.

It's "sort of" a "known" issue happening to some. Look at these threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2423817
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2435499
What does seem to work, is flash the ROM, then immediately flash the kernel (ie without rebooting first).
okay thanks i'll give it a try
Many thanks nkk71 for pointing in the right direction.
I was facing the same issue of being unable to install the Bulletproof kernel on my HTC One having ViperOne 4.2.0 custom rom and TWRP 2.6.3.3 recovery.
I followed the advice in the first link and wiped 'Dalvik cache' and 'cache' and (without rebooting) directly dirty flashed the Bulletproof kernel which did the trick.
Hope this helps someone else too.

Quite right, i've noticed that too recently, even when flashing other stuff (eg Bootloader_Reset, etc), would usually hang, but if you wiped cache and dalvik, Aroma would go straight through.
Many thanks nkk71 for pointing in the right direction.

I've been trying to flash a custom rom to my verizon HTC one, and have been getting stuck in a boot loop on every attempt.
ROMs I've tried:
CyanogenMod (m7 nightly 3/19)
ViperOne (5.8.0 and 5.7.0)
Currently running (and stable):
S-Off and Booloader Unlocked
stock radio
stock firmware
stock ROM (w/ root)
TWRP 2.7.0.0
CyanogenMod would boot, but then randomly reboot shortly afterward and was unable to recognize my SIM. Viper goes into a true boot loop, rebooting at the HTC splash screen (w/ red warning text). I have tried flashing each several times, wiping before each installation. Luckily, I have a backup of the current stable ROM, so I'll always be able to get out of a loop. I'm not new to unlocking and flashing ROMs but I've been using an HTC Thunderbolt until now (not losing my unlimited data, finally gave in and bought a used phone). I never had a problem on my old phone, but I feel like I might be missing something.
Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?
EDIT: Tried Android Revolution HD 53.0, same result as Viper

I came across this in some of the research I was doing, and I realize that was a problem for Revolution, but Viper is listed as compatible. I would have originally asked on their thread, but I'm not allowed to post in that section yet and I wasn't able to find a similar post because the search isn't functioning right now.
The CM page said that build was compatible for multiple carriers, but I did try the m7vzw build and got an error during the installation that said I was using an m7 device.
EDIT: Problem solved, switched from TWRP to PhilZ CWM recovery, Viper booted successfully.
So, I had to replace my HTC One.
The new one is 1.55 -- I am still S-On.
Today I flashed CWM 6043 using fastboot after unlocking the bootloader through HTC.
I flashed SuperSU.
I attempted to flash two of the newer roms (InsertCoin and Renovate) because I wanted Sense 6.
After successfully going through the flash, the phone reboots and goes straight back to Fastboot. If I go into the Bootloader and try to go into Recovery, it just kicks me back to the bootloader. I can then use fastboot to reflash CWM 6043 again and do it all over.
Same thing.
Every time.
Thoughts?
So.
I flashed 42One through Sideload and it launched fine. The only difference I can see (since this one is 4.4.2 as well) is that it didn't use the fancy rom installation package (can't remember the name) -- is there an incompatibility?
Or, maybe not. After booting I get to the unlock screen but after unlocking, all I see is the HTC splash screen but can still interact with the notification tray and the long press power menu...
Hmm.
Flashed a new kernel that has sense 6 support, still no luck. It has to be the AROMA installer.
Read somewhere that CWM Touch interferes wiht Aroma -- trying TWRP.
No luck, the aroma installer on both of those roms is killing the custom recovery. I don't know what else to do, any other ideas?

What recovery and version are you using
Which Rom are youu currently trying to flash (Sense 6?)? Which Kernel?
@bored_stupid -- I used TWRP 2.7 and 2.7.0.3 as well as CWM 6.0.4.3
@R34LY - I flashed the teaMSeven-sense-4.4.2-6th-v2.3.6 kernel.
For what it's worth, I just used the Guru Reset 3.04 rom to flash back to stock -- it's an Aroma installer as well -- and it worked fine, is booting now, not stuck on the bootloader/didn'e lost custom recovery.
Hmm.
However, I'm having the same issue of just having the HTC splash screen on this rom as well, I'm going to reflash the stock kernel.
Actually, it's just boot looping now. I've got to bounce and pick someone up from the Airport, so I'll pick this up later, I suppose. Arf.
Can I flash a RUU on 1.55 S-On? Maybe I'll just do that and try to go all the way back.

Well at least you now have a working phone, i noticed with ARHD 51 and 52 that the phone would just go to a black screen. A hard reset solved it and it boots fine after that. ARHD 53 does not suffer from the issue.
By the way Kit Kat requires TWRP 2.6.3.3 or newer
I'm using TWRP 2.6.3.3 and Elementalx 13.5.1 and it works perfect for me. Have you tryied this combination? Assuming you are up to a custom kernel.
No, it's not working -- still doing the looping showing the HTC splash, but I can still access the long-hold power button menu. I'll try @r34dy suggestion.
Post your feedback when you tryied it!
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Tried to flash 2.6.3.3 -- when I booted itno recovery, it showed a black screen and restarted.
So i flashed 2.7.0.3. -- it worked fine.
Flashed InsertCoin, didn't reboot, immediately flashedElementalX 13.5.1. Rebooted.
Same thing, straight to fastboot, if I go in bootloader and try to boot recovery, it loops back and I have to re-flash recovery.
I'm at a point now where I am trying CM11/SlimKat/Etc. using ElementalX 13.5.1 kernel.
It seems to work... but as it gets to the 'setup screen' in CM or SK, reboots the phone ~7 seconds in, every time, just looping.
I used factory reset, same thing.
Tried ElementalX 11.7 -- same thing, the rom runs for ~10 seconds or so, it gets the apps upgraded, even boots to the main screen -- I can literally see the home screen on the SlimKat installation with ElementalX 11.7 -- then it restarts itself.
Even in safe mode, it's looping after ~10 seconds post boot. Hmmmm.
