Tried saving a file, copy, edit on your so graciously supported external SD card!? I did. Pretty sure it was working fine prior to unlock, but after that, it appears we fall victim of the new KK Google external SD handlings. Something to do with SElinux and what not. May be "less secure," but personally, I'm good with that. So:
1. Using a root-enabled file manager, navigate to /system/etc/permissions
2. Edit platform.xml and find the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission.
3. Add an additional group definition for this permission... <group gid="media_rw" />
4. Save the changes to the file.
5. Restart.
And shaboopy, you can now actually use the external SD card in file manager.
Right click/hold and save

whaaaaa, you're making the recovery and you don't even root!? crazy, never would have seen that coming. Security risks? eh, nothing that serious to me I suppose. Well there in lies the difference bro, wonder if it not working isn't because of unlock, but maybe root then. Swipe over in es, select root, set all to rw still nothing man. Are you unlocked?
I am unlocked so I can work on recovery and roms. I do root aosp roms because they have added protection. Btw selinux seems disabled in this stock rom

Ok, thought I totally evaded the weird write things some people are having, but it definitely does not allow me to write when setting mnt/media_rw/ext_sd to rw. That's what I was trying to say i was doing that didn't do anything for me. Some other mod interfering? have cap's boot.img with init.d and unsecure and something else, and flar2's wp and s2w init scripts, and that's it I believe. But people, including cap, are experiencing some weird write issues that they think they need an RUU to get fixed...
You don't need an ruu. Just need to DD /dev/zero to that partition and then flash a zip. Anyways. Your not writing to /storage/* are you. That won't work..... Has to be the same place you changed permissions to lol

Do you test your device in Linpack before install? Also JIT give more performance in FlashLite and some games and video players. The FLoating point Operations Per Second is rised up.

Yep, reflashing another ROM should get rid of the JIT changes.

I havent got any prob using tapatalk with JIT enabled. When the flashlite enabled, i've the same prob with. Restore my previous backup, then apply JIT again.
So i guess the prob is within the flashupdate not JIT.

Alternate Install Instruction Video thanks to zedomax:
Personal experience speaking here:
It's best to install this script after a fresh, clean install of a ROM.
If you're installing it after you've installed all your programs, you'll need to copy your original internal sdcard files and folders over to your external sdcard first, or the programs you had installed that require data will not work.
I always have a backup of my internal files, and used a new external sdcard when installing the script, so it was no big deal.
Consider yourself forewarned!

I'm on the stock rom Sense 6 OTA. I am unable to receive MMS using the HTC Messages app because the connection settings for MMSC does not have a value in it. I'm using 8sms (Vanilla messaging app) from the Play Store using the correct MMSC value and it works fine. Although it works, I would like to have the integration of the messaging app with Sense to work again.
I can't seem to edit the APN setting because it is grayed out under Settings > Mobile network settings > Access point names.
I have root access but S-On. Is there an Access point configuration file that I can update? Is there a way to be able to get the setting to be editable?

A little update on what i've tried. I tried enabling APN settings as described in
this post but after I reboot the build.prop file reverts to its original file including timestamp of the file.
I then tried editing the APN directly via apns-config.xml file under /system/etc but the file doesn't exist.
Still at a lost.

I then tried editing the APN directly via apns-config.xml file under /system/etc but the file doesn't exist.
Still at a lost.

Have you tried using an app called Tweakker? That fixed an APN problem I had when I was using ViperOne.

Unfortunately the app doesn't have sprint in its list of carriers. Thanks anyway.

Try looking at the 2nd post of that thread, even though it's for Samsung devices.
EDIT:
Check this out as well.

I've tried method 1 from the first link and moving the files works but as soon as i reboot the app disappears.
Method 2 works thats why im using 8sms for now.
I havent tried method 3 yet. I was hoping someone on xda had my problem and solved it first.
The second link does nothing.

Take a look at the posts here and look for the VVM fix. That might help.

Downloaded and had a look. It flashes a kernel and replaces the existing Sprint files with possibly new/unaltered ones. Best to do a nandroid backup before flashing imo.

Good thing for nandroid backup. I flashed the file and all network was lost. Thanks for the suggestion for this file though.

SD Card Write Fix
Just edit etc/permissions/platform.xml (using root explorer) as shown below...and reboot...
add line:
<group gid="media_rw" />
Now all apps will be able to write to external SD Card... This is a temporary manual fix until we have a working custom recovery)

Not rooted.
Think you are going to have to be rooted as you are editing a system file
So the Note4 doesn't write to an SD card?

It's an Android kitkat limitation.

It's a very simple fix but can't really be done without root. It's not the n4 it's kitkat itself on all phones as far as I'm aware
Root and then unroot
I've been reading that rooting the Note 4 has a negative effect on several built-in apps like SoftCard (a.k.a., ISIS). If I root the Note 4, make this change, and then un-root the Note 4, will this fix stick?
TIA,
Rich

If you manage to unroot the Note 4 without flashing the stock rom again then... Yes, it should stick...
In other words... You have to unroot the device and keep the rom in the current "modified" state... Because, remember that if you reflash stock rom in order to unroot... Then you are overwriting the system file that you already modified...
Got it. Thank you!
This worked great on my shiny new rooted note 4. Thank you.
How about lollipop? Is it the same fix that applies?

In lollipop the problem is CORRECTLY fixed by Google however apps needs to have implemented the new way of accessing the SD card

With the update to lollipop for the Sprint note 4, es file Explorer can no longer edit files in the system folder.
Any ideas?

Have you "told" ES to request root and mount the partitions as RW?

Well, I typically have just turned root explorer on in es Explorer 's settings. I granted it superSu permission after rooting. What do you mean "request root and mount the partitions as RW?"

Not really. Some apps like Solid Explorer, Root Explorer, and Titanium backup still giving me grief over this issue. I still have to resort to this fix to get them to work properly.

He's probably thinking of Root Explorer (the app) , not ES Explorer
