Are there any Audio codec packs for android available? I am specifically looking for OPUS codec. I have a lot of opus songs and I am currently using Gonemadmp3 player. That and BS player seem to be the only two players supporting Opus right now. If there are codecs available then media monkey for android will also be able to play..
I think there is not any and no eta of when it will be for Android, or if ever will be, because the opus file are just to heavy.
Thanks for the response

Thanks for the response but is there any place where there is a reference to the work on Audio Codecs. (I know BS Player, Neutron Player and Gonemad Music Players support opus formats). But many players use the codecs that come with Android. There is a k-lote codec pack for video codecs but I do not see any such video packs for Audio. Does anybody know if there are any available.

Does anyone use Flac rather than MP3 on the Xperia? I stay away from all things Apple and think it's a joke how people run to the Iphone for it's Ipod application. I think Flac sized songs and albums are a huge benefit, but I don't want another music player just to support it maybe just a codec.
Have you tried this app: http://wm6.handster.com/software.php?id=1093&for=Wm6?
I don't know if theres a codec available for wmp...but then again i might be wrong.
Yes, I have seen that thanks. I've searched many different ways, but I always come up with a player to buy or codecs for the home version of the media player.
CorePlayer
I use CorePlayer to listen lossless audio on my Xperia.
Hi all,
Just wondering what video player apps (free/paid) that's best for playing ANIME with Subtitle? (similar to PC's Media Player Classic thingy?able to choose audio and subtitle?)
Not sure anyone has hobby like mine, but I do carry some anime with me on my SD Card to watch on the go on my previous PDA (HTC KAISER) and it plays perfectly. (althou some doesn't have subtitle)
Anyone have similar situation and some advise to this android newbie?
17/02/2012 updates: (tested anime with .mkv files)
***Tried MoboPlayer 1.2.200 - great at playing the videos, but no subtitle
***Tried Mobo Video Player Pro v1.0.6 - laggy when playing anime, no subtitle

Try either Dice or mVideo player, both work well with anime.
MX Video Player ( https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mxtech.videoplayer.ad and its codec pack at https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mxtech.ffmpeg.v7_neon ) has worked just peachy for me. It does have support for multiple streams et. al., and it's also plenty fast, too.

MX Player is the best ! I watch only anime & it has never let me down even once. The new HW+ decoder works wonders
Why don't you try my anime player and downloader? (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43351881#post43351881)
It won't let you down
BS Player
BS Player
It's free and has all the codecs you'll ever need built in.
MX Player was my player of choice until they had problems securing MKV codec and others.
If you want something that plays practically all file types, is free and lightweight, then BS Player is the one.
Find it on the Play Store.
(I can't add the link, it is against XDA rules, sorry.)
Im using ARCHOS video Player on my GNOTE

How do you organize pdfs? Pdfs are the bane of the organized people. You need to put them in a site, or a subfolder, with all the files similar, yet you also can't have duplicated pdfs.
Currently owning a vodafone smart II (really sluggish) , and I just found out this marvelous mobile . Well that said my only concern is will it play mkv on its default player ? I double checked their site (Sony) and found none info listed. Tried google and nada nada ... Well seeing this mobile has potential would be nice to know it supports MKV natively... Any one knows something please ????

It plays MKV out of the box, but audio support may be an issues. Either way MX Player plays MKV fine with support for most audio formats.
MKV is just a container so the real question would be it's audio and video codec.
Xperia Z/ZL or any high end android phones only support H.263, H.264, DivX, Xvid, 3GPP, 3GP2 I think that should be all the video codec it support. But as the other poster said... Just download MX Video player I use that over any stock video player 99% of the time.
MKV's work, but there are limitations. You can't select what audio track to play, it just uses whatever default track there is. Secondly there is a somewhat limited codec support. Many higher quality MKV's you find in less legal places of the interwebs use AC3 (Dolby) or DTS (or their HD variants) audio codecs which aren't supported. As far as I know it'll only play files with audio in MP3 or AAC, and I'm not sure about multi-channel AAC. Subtitles won't work either. And then some MKV files just randomly refuse to play, but I haven't identified what causes that problem.
There are two solutions:
Either just play everything with MX Player, with the HW or HW+ decoders you still have full hardware support and the benefits of Bravia Engine combined with full support for pretty much all audio codecs, multiple audio tracks and multiple subtitle tracks.
The other solution is to use software to remove unused audio tracks from your MKV's and if necessary recode your preferred audio track to stereo AAC. By far the best software to do that is Avidemux. It allows you to delete and recode streams without affecting other streams. Basically that means you can remove audio tracks you don't need and recode the one you want without having to recode the video, which is extremely fast and with recent CPU's only limited by the disk read/write speed.

Wow such a huge explanation given , well I think my rips combined with MX player will do the trick then and that Avidemux is a little nice tool.
Thanks all ya for your reply , always appreciated.
So, I have a problem with my Remix Mini (it's the whole reason why I even made an account).
My Mini can play most HEVC files, but there are a few that (depending on the player) either won't play or stutter really bad.
If it's any help, most of the files start with the letter G (which is probably just a coincidence, but still...), at least one of them is 10 bit, and one of them has an Opus audio codec.
Most of them were downloaded from the same site (but possibly different encoders).
I've tried tweaking around with Kodi, MX Player, and VLC Android (both versions, the beta version plays any video too quickly).
Any suggestions?
Anyone?

Will do, thx!
Didn't work! Please help!
For some files I've been able to use MX Player and make it work by switching to HW Decoder... However for these certain videos HW Decoder won't work and you can't even select HW+. When I choose HW Decoder it just says, "HW decoder is not supported".
Just wanting to know which movie player apps everyone is using on their Note 8. I have several movies on my phone and I usually use MX Player Pro or VLC player to play them but some of the movies I have, the audio does not play or sounds real low and squeaky. Maybe I'm missing audio codecs or something?

I've always used BS Player. Excellent for network drives and also you can offset the audio track, which is very useful for out of sync audio, which can sometimes happen with a Bluetooth headset or a bad rip
I didn't play too many movies but I don't remember even one that VLC wasn't able to play yet, so it's my player of choice. I know Samsung doesn't have AC3 sound codec included, so any player relying on internal codecs won't work with AC3, but VLC does. If you load the movie onto computer, you can find out what codecs it uses and maybe you can install those as separate package, but as I said IMO VLC is probably the best.
VLC is all you need. I use it on both my phone and computer. It plays everything you throw at it.
MX player. Recently VLC Player is good

When you hit the screen, while a video is playing, under the BS logo there is an arrow pointing to the right. Expand that and full screen is the last option
