[Q] how to remove smileys in conversations.apk - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

hello all,
i'm trying to remove the (imho) ugly yellow smileys from conversations.apk, however i'm stuck because of this this issue. i really have no idea how to build apktool from source to include the patch, and don't really want to wait for the new version.
all you guys who do customised apps and themes, are you building from source? or is there any other way around this? i tried simply deleting the images from the apk, but that results in a fc (obviously). i really just want to get rid of the graphical smileys. : )
thanks for any info,
bamdad

If you are running a 2.2 rom, it is most likely based on CyanogenMOD source, and you should be able to add the CMParts.apk to it, which will let you change the color through CyanogenMOD Settings.

If not tons of threads has already been posted on this. Look at the android themes section
I think in 2.2 this slightly differs, but here would be a good start - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=549309

[Q] No Email.apk/JP6 libcamera.so - why?

Hello everybody,
beeing new here I first of all want to thank XDA/members for helping me, learned a lot about heimdall/roms/recovery/adb/framework/modem/... by only reading here at XDA. Thank you.
Currently I'm using deodexed Froyo JSD/modem XSJPG, modified theme (GB notification icons, all grey) and have removed a lot of stock apps wich are not needed - slimmed down the base system quite a bit.
To make use of apps like barcode scanner etc. without stock Email.apk (removed) I have learned to use libcamera.so from JP6 to prevent force closes, works fine.
Does anybody know what's the difference with this libcamera.so? Is it patched? If yes - how? If not - does it make sense to try a newer version of libcamera.so?
Any help would be appreciated, searched a lot but always found the hint to use it but not what makes the difference - but I'd like to know

[Q] How to make progress bar default for all apps

I am using an official CM9 Nightly on my Galaxy S, i managed to compile a theme to remove the gingerbread mess that google left in there, however some apps still use the default orange progress bar rather than the newer ICS one, does anyone know how to change this?? I have opened up the Titanium Backup apk to see if the default orange progress bar was there in order to replace it but it wasn't so I am stumped with this one any help is appreciated

[Q] Flashable Icons? :S

Hello everyone, i have a question.
There's a bunch (tons i shall say) of flashable .zips to change UI icons (Flashable icons)
For Ace, For Mini, for S2 and lots of more models.
So ive decided to try flashing it on my phone, to my surprise no packages seem to work.
Really, does Samsung Galaxy S Plus support icon changing? Or do i need to flash a ROM?
I'm asking about stock 2.3.6, TouchWiz 5 interface, any suggestions? Because i would love to change them.
Update 2012.11.30
Found sort of Uot Kitchen program. I'm not getting used to it and it's not a kind of thing i am looking for.
Still hoping for help on icon changing.
I´m interest in that too

[Q] Change stock app icons with custom ones (Xperia Z3c)

Hello,
I have an Xperia Z3 Compact and am looking for a way to change stock system app icons (ideally without using another launcher). I am aware you can use an apk tool to decompile, replace icons and recompile an app, but that doesn't work with system apps like Settings, Camera and Phone. Those cannot be dumped by an apk tool. Do I need root for this? How do I proceed? Please help :crying:

Hi, currently there are bunch of applications on the marketplace (e.g. Desktop VisualizeR) able to create custom shortcuts (i.e. allowing custom icons usage) on home screens.
As far as I know, however, rooted or not, there is no possibility to change icons system-wide, so they will stay the same in app-drawers, app pickers, task managers, etc. EDIT: Oh well, not for free!
If you, like me, find that icons for Sony applications are a bit dated yet you do not want to abandon their super fast launcher, you can always wait for the upcoming Lollipop update, which hopefully will bring us a UI overhaul

If you are root You can use unicon to change icons with stock launcher.

Using unicon, this is the stock launcher
