Ive been struggling with my phone for 4 days since i lost my imei trying to install different roms compatible with galaxy gear. Right now i can only use slimbean 4.3 without any problems, but cant find any gear manager compatible with this rom.
Any tips? Right now i dont care bout notifications and svoice, just want it to pair with my galaxy gear with this rom.

Yesterday i flashed my tab p1000 to gingerbread 2.3.3, because it wouldnt boot anymore, i used a tutorial i found on youtube and some help from people on this forums, everything is now running, exept it sometimes keeps saying i cant install anything from the market, because there is not enough space, but theres almost noting on the device :S
Alsom for another question, the tutorial also explained how to root the tab with 2.3.3, but what are the benefits of doing a root? Is it just to instal other roms ore are there more benefits?
And what are the risks for doing this?
i know these are alot of questions hahaha but im very new at this, im not planning on installing a other rom, cus im very pleased with the samsung gingerbread, but would like to see some other stuf on the tab like galaxy s2 widgets and launcher, and some widgets from the xperia x10 love the galary widget i have on the x10.

Hello, i have my tab for quite a while now and I've been having this issue for months now, at first it didnt bother me but at times it gets frustrating. The thing is whenever I am using my tab, suddenly the tab doesn't respond(particularly the touch screen) and I have to lock the tab and unlock it in order to fix it. I had this issue when i was in stock 2.2 then upgraded to stock 2.3 and still had the issue. I Decided to flash with overcome 4.0 and still the issue is there, I hope someone can help me with this..
Theres a new rom out called icontact its really good and better thsm factory.im on the sprint gt so not much for me to choose from

If you have upgraded and tried some custom ROMs and are still having these issues, I would look into faulty hardware.
But if you want to try another ROM and have a CDMA(VZW) GT check out this custom ROM. Runs smooth and is stable and pre-rooted.

Im a bit of a noob right now as I only got introduced to the other side of android a week ago (Rooting, Roms etc)
But I think im going to buy the samsung galaxy gear for my own use and to use it to learn about rooting, sideloading etc
(im buying the Gear 1st Gen)
1# Do I have to pair it with a phone to sideload apps, root, and get a custom ROM
What i mean by this is when I get it out of the box do I have to pair it to a phone to get into the interface (Home screen, camera etc)
or can I use the watch without a phone?
2# Does anyone have a list of what devices this will support when I get a custom ROM, Im currently using a galaxy Y (Old but its all I need... for now) will the watch support this when I get a custom ROM and will i have to root my phone to get it to work.

you cannot use it without a pair
I am pretty sure you can connect it to whole android phone include almost custom roms
you need to instal manually gear manager by you (it will not install from google play on custom roms)
you will find instructions on forum as well
Out of the box the gear is absolutely worthless. It will play a demo on how to connect over and over again. It needs to pair before you can play with the camera and etc. You can't even sideload apps since usb debugging can't be enabled yet. However I believe you can enter into the stock recovery and install a new recovery, then custom roms.
There's really not a list of supported devices. It says that it requires android 4.3 or higher on a touchwiz framework rom to work properly. It is possible to connect with non touchwiz roms though. But it's going to take some research and work on your part to do that. Check out the following threads to see what others have done to connect to their devices.

I did a quick look at the Galaxy Y and didn't see and 4.3 or higher roms. You might have a huge struggle.
1) Yes to sideload apps - (but limited), not really needed to root/custom rom
2) no unofficial list of phones that support (you get a much smaller list from the official samsung device supported list) - gotta do you research on this one - safe to say a lot of the recent samsung phones can be made to work - i.e. S3, S4 note 2, note 3 etc...

hi, i have gear 1 (tizen) and note 3 N9005 (rooted, custom rom 4.4.2 TW base)
so, previously i have note 2 and since i move to note 3 i noticed that the gear need to be reset and i have to re-install everything ! including face clocks, apps using "galaxy gear app".. one by one... and i have many face clocks...
i found few interesting custom roms but i dont want to keep reinstalling stuffs on my gear, ... any idea?
I have a Note 5 SM-N920C. Rooted and using Arter97 Kernel.
Before rooting Gear VR was breeze but now it doesn't work at all. The headtracking is stuck so I can't select anything. Plz help me solve this issue. Would really appreciate it.
The other forums suggest a different Kernel. I used Sky Kernel earlier but my calls kept dropping so I had to flash Arter97. What kernel will let me use gear vr and not have my calls drop.

try the stock kernel.
But wont my phone go in a bootloop as my phone has been rooted.
All the other posts say not to go with Stock Kernel.
Doesnt it need to be recompiled so that I wont have issues with call drops and bootloop issues.
