Say what
Are you asking what will happen if you flash M8 firmware on an M7 device (with S-Off).... that's easy: you'll have a very nice paperweight... a complete brick!!!

The OP, but at least he posed the question instead of just blindly flashing that kernel.
this thread makes me want to flash IOS7 on my one mwahahahaha:laugh::good:
You magically turn your phone into an M8 - Let us know how it goes!
*Sarcasm may or may not be in this post*
OK a simple search would have told you what would happen if you flashed a kernel for a different device. It would brick your device beyond repair.

Let me start by saying that I have done this before and am fairly experienced at roming phones! So I have a Sprint HTC One with TWRP 2.5 (Sprint variant but have tried both) and for some reason I cannot get the phone to boot into Android Revolution 7.1 (past releases as well) after a supposed successful installation. Android Rev is just an example, I have tried TrickDroid 5.2.1 (past releases as well again) and Maximus7 4.0... all of which have failed. I have successfully installed ViperRom with no issues. I have gotten the furthest with Android Revolution so I'll stick with it.
After installation says that it is successful and I begin to reboot the phone gets stuck on the white HTC splash screen. I have tried flashing the boot.img and erasing the cache with no avail. I have also tried this combination using Dumlock and without. After doing these steps I do sometimes see the phone get passed the HTC splash screen but it just goes black and boots into nothing.
Thanks for your help and excuse my ignorance!

I'm a little confused on what you're trying to tell me. I am aware that there is a separate Sprint HTC One forum and have been there... but the ROM is for all the carriers.
In the ARHD, TrickDroid (and probably all the others)forum it is written so, and you can clearly see that those roms doesn't support the Sprint edition....
Read the OP on the ROM thread:

There's a specific development thread for Sprint, so you can finding working ROMs for Sprint on the Sprint forum.

Ahh ok, I wasn't aware there were different Sprint HTC One variants. And I did notice that for TrickDroid (I didn't put much time into it, focused on Android Rev). And I'm guessing the same things applies for Android Revolution then..
So just so I'm hearing you correctly.. Android Revolution 7.1 doesn't work for all Sprint variants?

carrier's phone are always a pain in the ass with these kind of things... however in the Sprint thread there are some roms which obviously work with your device... better than nothing
Just be glad you didn't brick your phone by that mistake. I am on Sprint as well and am patiently waiting for the awesome devs to get a port of Android Revolution on our phone.

I've been in the rom flashing world for a while now..but I just recently purchased the HTC ONE.
Going into uni and kinda dont have as much time to mess around as I did.
So can anyone give me a clear answer to as whether the WIND Mobile HTC ONE can flash the roms in the development section? Would I have to change radios or anything after ROM Flash to make my Wind 3G work?(Unlimited data...dont wanna waste that).
To be more specific..i'm just interested in the VIPER and the 4.3 AOSP roms.
Also, would I be able to flash kernels?
My biggest worry is whether I can flash these roms and kernels, and whether I would loose my phone's phone abilities afterwards.
Sorry for the dumb questions..hopefully someone can answer these. thks

I want to know this as well. I found a post but the answer wasn't that great. I used the t-mobile Roms on my Wind Note 2HTC one as used other gsm Roma on it as well. So I'm guessing it T-Mobile roms work on the htc as well. But that forum seems dead and there are not any forums dedicated to unbricking the Wind HTC one so that's why I'm just waiting for a confirm.
P.s do you know where to download the HTC One wind radio from?

I've tried Viper, Android Revolution (Sense / GPe), and CM 10.2 (AOSP 4.3). They all work on the Wind version of the HTC One (which is exactly the same version as the T-Mobile variant except with a different CID).

This forum. The generic HTC one forum. I think the following links will clear up some confusion on the various variants:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2223236
http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.com/2013/04/htc-one-variants-update.html
In case you're TL;DR you can flash any UL Rom (except Sprint).

Hi guys, I'm long time reader first time poster. I usually like to blaze my own trails, but I think it's time I got some help. I have a HTC One (M7), it is or was rooted. running android 4.3. It's an O2 Ireland phone. Any other details you need quiz me!
The problem I am having is that I have wiped the OS off the phone (foolishly) while playing around TWRP. I have been trying to sideload a stock ROM (4.4.2 stock T-Mobile) onto my device in attempt to save the day, alas could not.
I won't try to pretend like I know what I'm doing, infact I know very little about android... So.
Could some kind individual please step me through what I need to do before I do more damage? Thanks in advance!

If you don't care about loosing your data, flash an RUU which will re-install your OS, but wipe everything else. Your title says M8, but your post says M7. If you have an M8, just use an sdcard to put the tmobile rom zip on and flash it using twrp. If you have an M7, that isn't an option.
Just search around for instructions and downloads for the RUU files.

Yes, sorry for the confusion. I have an M7. That is why this is sort of above my skill level. Backups never bother me. As for RUUs? Does it have to be an O2 RUU for my O2 phone or can it just be an RUU of another network? I'm finding it hard to get my hands on the particular one I need. The Kind user who hosts the RUUs, Sirkrushalot... I think, well his site isn't working so well for me. Thank you for your swift reply. At this moment I have no mobile phone now. And in this day and age it feels like a part of me is missing haha.

Yeah you do need to flash the RUU that has the same CID (carrier) as your phone. This works if you're on O2.

Okay so I already searched and I can't find an answer to my question. I am planning to update my One to Lollipop once I get it back from repair. My brother had an AT&T branded one and he have flashed several ROMs from there. Except, that one broke and I am kind of hesitant to flash ROMs on mine. So as what the title says, will I have any problems if I flash a ROM from the international HTC One thread onto my Verizon HTC One?
Thank you!

Yeah. I read it a while ago and I also PM'ed the developer of InsertCoin. Thank you for your answer. I'm just really scared of flashing ROMs on this thing now because my brother's AT&T M7 got bricked (or had a hardware problem or whatever) after I flashed a ROM for him and that really traumatized me lol.

I honestly don't want to be rude, but you really have to do your own research. You're asking questions, that you can find all your answers for in the forum sections or by simply google them. I personally really don't recommend you flashing any custom rom or do anything to your phone until all the basics are clear enough to you to start off. Once you have some ideas what flashing, custom roms, custom kernels... etc are it will be a very simple and SAFE process to move on! Good luck!
