Hey guys, don't know if I should have posted this in Q&A, but does anyone know of a volume booster that works on the X for in call through the earpiece of the phone? I know on my N5 someone made a mod that changes the mediaprofiles.XML and gets a very noticeable increase.
/etc/snd_soc_msm/ snd_soc_msm_2x is the file that needs edited....if my memory serves right that is how it was done on the s3...there is no mediaprofiles.xml on the MX from the searching I've done

Looks like possibly the ear pa gain is what you change. I'll have to mess with it tonight.
Does anyone know if you have to change the 0 or the 2 in "Ear PA Gain" or do you have to change the RX1 Digital volume to something else? Just getting around to looking at this now on OSE rom.
Hey Did any one tried it out?
Did changing any of above parameters worked ? Increased the volume even slightly

I haven't had much of a chance to test it. I'd have to try each line separately to find which value to change from that screenshot and I haven't had time lately to mess with it.
It is not working. EAR PA GAIN changed to 5db gives no sound from earpiece at all

Yeah, there's so many variables to change I wouldn't even know where to start.

As per the user's manual, the headset has a volume control slider, however, I don't think I could find the slider the manual is trying to say. Is this just a typographical error? The headset that came with my unit only has a send/end button, no slider at all.
Mine also doesnt have the slider. Just the button.

Are they talking about the graphical representation of the slider perhaps?
I doubt it!
slider, the volume controller. On my previous pda phones, xda, xda 2, touch thier headsets have the slider, so I find this very strange, especially that its even written on the manual.
I've been using the jj blaster 28004 light rom for a few days now, but have only just plugged in the headset that came with the phone. Apparently it doesn't come with all kaisers so here's the pictures of the one i mean:

I've not been able to reduce the volume while they are plugged in and it's deafening when trying to listen to music. The play/pause, start/end call, forward/back a track buttons all work fine, but the volume one does nothing.
Are there any programs I am missing from the full rom that would help to manage the volume level of the headset please? Or any other program suggestions to manage this? I've seen countless threads talking about the bluetooth headsets being too quiet in volume but can't find any info on the original wired headset.
Are there any schematics that show the DAC and amp inside the G1? I'd like to know how hard it'd be to mod this thing to output a line-out.

don't worry no one gets grid.
*breathes a sight of relief*
back to the topic at hand....
You can try to find the htc repair manual online. Also, R3nrut tried to find the JTAG points on the phone so you can see if he got anywhere with it, but the diagram is not easily found.

this would help for an audio line out
don't know if this is what you are looking for .......
no that's not exactly what I was looking for but thanks anyways. He has showing how to get the audio signal from the usb port to a headphone jack. I'd like to know how the audio signal goes from DAC to the usb-port, and if any internal amplification can me avoided. I'd also like to know if we can get a s/pdif out from the usb...
Is there away to increase the volume on the hero. I want to make my music louder through my headphones. Is there a better music player than the factory default one?
I use MixZing as my music player. I might be imagining it, but it seems louder than the stock HTC player, and has a cool widget as an added bonus.
AutoMOD Verson 1.4.
Works like a beauty. Only, clarity can sometimes become a problem if you turn the volume up too loud, as well as it sounding like it's hammering at your Hero's speakers.

Louder Volume Hack will also achieve this although some people report that it does not work for them...
Latest version is 2.2.1 and can be found here:

Be warned it is a pay for app, but a refund is available if it does not work for you.

Can't find the program on Market.
What's the actual name? Can direct to the .apk file?
AutoMod 1.4 was the name of Louder Volume Hack quite a few versions ago, i am unsure if it was a pay app then or not...
I noticed that with ics the volume of ringer and notifications, cannot be set seperately. I would like to set the notifications volume lower than the ringer but when i set one, the other gets the same value. Anyone knows of a fix or solution.
Thanks
Settings > Sound > Volumes (or something simular, the first thing in the list) > Disable 'Link Volumes'.
May be a little bit different, my phone is not in English.
download quicksettings app from the playstore and try it
Thanks for the answers but doesn't work.
There is no settings in sounds to unlink both.
And the quicksettings app clearly says that they are bound together in android 4.0. I was more thinking about a possible fix, patch or script that could unbound them.
Thanks for any other reply.
I've got the option to set them both at a different volume? Or isn't this what you're looking for?

So this star popped up in my notification bar. Removed any suspect apps, but it hasn't went away. Rebooted, still there. Suggestions?

Yeah I was puzzled by that today as well. Its for priority notifications only. Click your volume key. You'll see the toggle.
Fantastic! Thanks!
Random
Now that we all know what the star is, why does it randomly enable itself? I have turned it off in volume and in the system settings multiple times and every once in a while I will pick up my phone and it will be back on?

You've probably set up a predefined downtime. So it auto-enables itself at that time. Check under Settings > Sound & notification > Interruptions > Downtime
Moto assist. The meeting and sleeping modes enable it.
I have verified no down time is set. I've gone thru all of the settings that I can find that are related. I have turned off all of moto assist.
