i like changing roms a lot! and i do prefer to do a full wipe each time to avoid unwanted bugs, but there is one thing that upsets me the most after each new rom and thats rearanging my launcher...
now i whould use nova launcher since it has backupand restore features, but unfortunatly it's not so usfull for stock roms since it can't find the weather, photos or music player widgets which are the ones i mostly use, niether does it show the AOSP version of those widgets.
so i was wondering if someone knows how to backup the stock launcher settings or layout to restore later, or an alternative lanucher with backup abilities that can use the sony widgets i'd love to know.

yeah but this messes up the whole idea of doing a clean flash without previous programs and possible bugs and errors...
so i've found the solution is anyone is intrested.
all you need to do is copy /data/data/com.sonyericsson.home to a safe location (sdcard)
and after you wipe your device restore the folder to it's original location.
this restores homescreen layouts, widgets locations and sizes and apps shortcuts, i've just tried it works greats.

Hmm, good question. Correct me if i'm wrong, but i don't think it's possible.
Edit: What might work is that you copy the TouchWiz launcher APK. If you're rooted then just go to system/app, find the APK and copy it.
I THINK this will do it.

Use Titanium Backup and System data/app (whatever it called again) backup - scroll down to Twlauncher to backup it settings. This should do it.
I usually do it with mine old Desire to backup the HTC Sense launcher settings, email/gmail settings etc and should be the same with TouchWiz.
But u can only restore, if using same ROM and cant restore the settings on another custom ROM.

Can u be more specific?? like if you want backup all apps use titanium backup, or if you want to store all stuff like s memo, wallpapers, messages etc use Kies.
I have this question as well. Specifically, is there a way to back up the folders in the app drawer as well as the arrangement of icons and Widgets on the home screen?

Hi ppl
Is there any way to have all apps installed the way it was before switching to a new rom ? I mean when I try out new roms I have to install all apps again. I've tried my backup pro and titanium but they only restore all apps. Anyone has a faster way of doing this??

I'm using MyBackup root therefor. Here you can restore all apps with the data in batch mode. But I think MyBackup pro should also do it.
Did u backup your apps along with all their data? There is an option in Titanium Backup to do so in the batch option. I still have my high scores of Temple Run
MyBackup Pro seems to be the best bet considering Titanium does create issues for some folks.
But do remember restoring apps can produce errors in the working of the ROM which otherwise wouldn't exist.
Safest best is to clean instal your apps again.
Tx guys but I cannot get all apps installed . It only restores them with their respective data. I don't wanna install all apps again one by one after flashing a new rom

Titanium backup has a batch restore mode where you can restore more than one app at a time. If this is not what you mean, I don't have a clue what you're talking about.
I haven't used titanium but I'll check it out. Just to make sure do the apps get installed or just restored? I mean do I have to hit the install button for every app?

Listen buddy, this is a community here. Respect others to get respect for yourself.
Your posts are quite inconsistent.
In the same thread, at the start of the post you mentioned you have used Titanium & a couple of posts later you state you HAVE NOT yet used titanium.
with incorrect/incomplete info no one would be able to assist you correctly & your frustration levels are going to rise.
@letmedanz I didn't mean to disrespect anyone but the way nonverbose responded wasn't cool.
Anyway what I meant when I said I used titanium was that I installed it and removed it within minutes. But I'm not here to prove anything so am gonna forget it and apologize to whoever I offended.

That's cool buddy..
Anyhow, a couple of options are available...
at most times when you install a fresh rom, android automatically installs the apps you had on earlier.
This happens when you run the new rom for the first time, in the initial setup.
Provided you have synced your phone with your gmail account.
once you provide your wifi and/or apn details android will automatically download and instal all the apps.
your second option is as you mentioned, third party apps like titanium & mybackup pro.
personally, i prefer MBP cos titanium has given me more than one problem.
MBP is a neat app, you can either backup/restore all apps or just select a few.
howevre , i still believe it is best to reinstall all apps after a new rom instal, cos restored apps may force close or have other issues specially if you are changing between GB & ICS etc
+1 for Titanium backup !!!
You can backup personnal applications, but their settings and your system settings too !!!
The retore process is quicker than google process because you haven't to download applications from network.
Settings...Image?

I have titanium backup pro and have not figured out how to restore all the settings. Maybe I'm confused, but I have to spend hours setting all the preferences, screens widgets etc each time I flash a new ROM. I've heard you can "Image" backup. Does Titanium do that?
Go backup and go backup pro is best..It don't prompt to install each and every app every time..batch restore with data..easy than titanium backup..

Make sure you know what you're talking about before you post. Titanium backup pro HAS batch restore mode in which you don't have to INDIVIDUALLY install every app.

You can always do a dirty flash but you run the risk of it failing.
I want to switch to a new launcher. Probably nova or apex. When I install a new launcher I still have the old one running in the background. Is there a way to delete the launcher? The guy that made slim pics somehow managed to. He made zeam instead of stock.
Am I right that you're running Slim ICS with Zeam Launcher?
If so, get a root explorer/browser > go to /system/app find the zeam launcher and delete the apk.
Reboot and clear cache. should do the trick

Or even you can use titanium backup to uninstall that app.
Use App freezer.
You may want to use it later but want to reduce memory consumption so i suggest you to do with titanium backup to freeze or use app freezer to freeze it ^^.
Thanks guys! And, no, I'm not on slim, don't like it. ICSSGS FTW!
Hi,
First, Christmas, New year wishes to all.
I flash ROMs almost every weak, and 50% of the time, wipe data...
Titanium backup is saving my life with it's app management.
But I'm bored to install my favorite apps every time. It takes almost 30mins to install all my apps and data manually using titanium backup.
Option #1:
I'm just wondering whether any app support installing app+data in a batch mode with selectable options?
Option #2
Is it even possible to create a clock work mod flushable zip that install apps and it's data???
Thanks,
Senthur

This is possible with titanium backup, although you do need the pro version. I would also like to find an alternative that is free or not as pricey as TB. Anybody know/use
Anything?

Hey, what you mean is not update.zip to install titanium backup?
If you are talking about app+data installation in recovery, tell me the procedure pls???
Hey
I am currently on Stock Rom (JB) and I love the custom email widget which shows the Combined Inbox and then you just click it for Individual Email boxes.
Now I want to flash a Custom Rom (Slim) but the email widget doesn't work this way on that (I tried it on i9000 and the click to change doesn't work), is there anyway I can make it behave like default in that?
Or if that's a different widget can I backup it with TB and then restore after flashing the custom Rom? or better still does someone happen to have the apk for it?
Don't say that it's not possible please
Thanks
You can try backing it up and restoring. You should check the apps and themes forum for it for an available MOD. Backing up n restore should work as it isn't an app requiring TW framework if I'm right. No harm in trying...
Have you tried the app store? I'm sure it's there

Look, u open a TW based ROM and open the frameworks folder and search for the email apk and copy it to your phone. It should work.
